I recently developed a very annoying habit (that bothers only me).
When Im watching a movie I keep thinkig if I could reproduce it with playmobil. It is amazing but with a little imagination you can reproduce almost any movie.
But recently I realised there is one simple element that doesn't exist in the Playmo world, or at least I've never heard of, nor seen it and I can't think it can be reproduce or replaced with a similar item. The TYPEWRITER. That anwers my title question. I would love to see one...the old type I mean.
what about you?
-

That reminds me of the time when I was obsessed with d&d ... I used to think "Hmmm what lvl is that guy", everytime I saw someone, either in movies, storiaes, books, or real life
Well, I'd love to see a playmobil space shuttle... it could turn children towards a sensitivity of space travel and exploration!

I want to see ancient Greeks.

I want to see ancient Greeks.
There are customs, but hopefully there will be an ancient Greek theme someday...

Pano I am waiting over 30 years for that day :(
I just hope to be as soon as possible... (lets say...2011) :P
-
That's funny, Gaston; I do that too. All the time.
are you asking for simple items or whole themes we would like to see? For me one item would be an okapi. ;D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okapi
For a whole theme, a state fair theme with ferris wheel, carousel, roller coasters, etc. Which leads to two other simple items I would love to see -- soft pretzels and cotton candy for playmobil vendors. (One of the main reasons I want this theme is so I could reproduce The Notebook!)
-
I want to see ancient Greeks.
yes me too... and ancient Japan! ;D
But beside themes, that we have talked about many times.... what element, thing, item of existing themes you guys would like to see done? :)
Like the scholl bus Wesley Myers asked for in other thread :)

yep, I mean items... not themes :D
-
Ok, well then cotton candy and okapis. ;D
And a better baby sling.
And babies with blonde hair, and black babies, and female gorillas, and male orangutans... I could go forever!

Actually I had a talk about the ancient greek theme with a toy shop owner... Playmobil is having regular seminars with toyshop owners and asks for feedback depending on their sales...
Playmobil has asked toy shop owners what themes they would like to see produced... Toy shop owners replied ''an ancient greek theme'' !!! Playmobil relied ''we have considered that but ancient themes are not very popular (where the @&%$^* did that come from?) look at the egyptian theme, it did not go so well... so this is not our main priority for the time being''!!!
Well, here's to hoping... :prays: :prays: :prays:
-
I too would like a space shuttle and a hot air balloon :)
-

me too.... wall telephones for the western and victorian themes, a victorian fire fighter's truck (with horses), french victorian buildings with curved walls and domes..... a baloons seller would be nice too....

WHAT!?!?!? The vast majority of playmobil collectors specialize in the historic themes. AND parents like them because they are educational. Who else buys playmobil besides parents and collectors? ???
I'm with you on the hot air balloon. ;D
-
Ok, well then cotton candy and okapis. ;D

I'd love all those things too! especially the okapis :) I've been thinking of customizing one myself, and also an oryx or an eland :)
I too want babies with different hair color, like red hair!
-
a Zeppeling! :yippee: :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
is that to much to ask for?
-

Yes, my thoughts exactly...
-
I want clothes (hats,collars...) and items (drumms etc.) to dress kids as drummers or ship-boys for my armies and navy. ;)
-
I would like to see some western/ Mexican style buildings, the white ones with wooden roofs. A spanish mission type building as well.
-
I'd love all those things too! especially the okapis :) I've been thinking of customizing one myself, and also an oryx or an eland :)
Yes! A giant eland. Also a bongo. Unfortunately hoofstock isn't all that interesting to children maybe. :P
-
Vehicles vehicles vehicles!!! :D :D :D
Lots of new ones intead of just repaints!
Damo :)
-
I like all of the ideas that have been proposed by members so far! :) I'm really hoping an El Paso Western theme and a Greek theme will be replacing the outgoing Egyptian and Pirate themes.
-
We can only hope! :crossed: :crossed: :crossed: :crossed: :prays:

I'd be okay with that! ;D
-
Steampunk victorian fantasy. Including Wright Brother's type early airplanes, chiti-chiti-bang-bang flying cars, time machines, steam-powered bicycles (the victorian kind with the really huge wheel and a really tiny wheel), hot air balloons, zepplins, flying pirate ships, Sherlock Holmes styled klickies with goggles and such. Steampunk mad scientist lab with cantankerous doo-hicky styled elaborate contraptions that have conveyor belts, gears, and steam-driven pistons which, after all the clanging and banging churn out a simple thing like an ice cube.
Think of the movie "Wild West" with Will Smith. Or modern Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downy Jr.
-
:yup: Especially the hot air balloon. :yup: :yup:

I used to be like that years ago,.....never mind :-[!
-
Your ideas are very original Atto but the victorian theme I think is one of the only themes that shouldn't be mixed with fantasy nor crazy cience fiction. IMHO...maybe also western. In fact I wouldn't do it....but the rest of you can
I did like movies like the time machine (the original one) or sherlock holmes (not much more modern stuff than the fighting) but "WILD WEST"? That is $/(&$""@@, and by that I mean terrible. It is too crazy.
Back to topic.... other thing I would like to see for the victorian theme is a fan, look at this one...isn't it beautiful?

OMG! that fan is awesome! and chain driven!
Damo :)

So what you're saying, Damo, is that you're a big fan of that fan? ;)
Sorry, i couldn't resist. :-[
-
Yeah,....it blew him away! :giggle: Now see what you've started bb?
-
This is spinning out of control! ;D
We might have to pull the plug on it.

ok ok, well maybe not as crazy as wild west movie, but Steampunk Victorian IS a classic sci-fi theme. I think they can pull it off if they don't go too crazy like those lazer-chain-saws they gave the dragon knights.

Steampunk is not a far-fetched theme, less far-fetched by far than the bloody rainbow-coloured ghost pirates or the lazer-sword-wielding dragon knights with goofy cross-eyed dragons!
PLUS, Steampunk has historical basis. Steampunk is to Victorian days as Space theme is to contemporary living. Steampunk is the sci-fi of victorian times.
AND Steampunk applies to more than one theme: Like Japan during the industrial revolution post-Edo era. Or western theme, during inventions like the steam locomotive and other steam/piston-driven inventions, electricity, etc.... And of course Victorian theme in general.
Wild West movie was fantastical to say the least, but not totally out in left field, save for the giant mechanical spider. Flying contraptions, gears and gizmos on the observation car of the train. Steam-powered vehicles and apparati. Also other movies like the flying diribible in "Stardust." Or "The Last Rocketeer." "The Iron Giant." These ideas are also not uninspired by Jules Vern type lore.
Not to mention the fashion! Imagine Victorian or western crossed with the new technological fashions, like goggles, and mechanical gettups and gear. And the very stylized victorian fashions with tailed coats, monocles, mandarin collars, metalic accents, buttons, clasps, the use of such earthy metalic colours as bronze and copper and steel!
The possibilities are endless!
To help visualize my hope, here is a quick collage of internet images I threw together for you: Tell me this isn't a valid theme! Certainly far less outlandish and bizzar as rainbow pirates and goofy dragon knights! In any case, you will be seeing some customs from me nonetheless, since, most likely this will never happen.

As long as the theme doesn't get too crazy, I think I would actually like it. I think though kids would not be attracted to such theme. It would be just for adult collectors so maybe Pm will never develope it.
I would LOVE to see your customs on this matter, you are good with details!!!!! I can't wait!
-
I think it would be an awesome theme; I know I would buy it! I do wonder though, if there would be an appeal to kids. If a movie comes out that a lot of children see and it is VERY popular that has this kind of thing in it, then maybe the time would be right for playmobil to bring it out.
-
So what is PM waiting to develope a sort of Harry Potter theme? :(
-
Ew. I hope they don't. No offense to Harry Potter fans. But I don't like it.
-
:( I do...
I don't mean exactly harry potter, but a revival of the magic/sorcerer theme maybe?
-
:( I do...

YES, my favorite 3839 Wizard's workshop !

Well, I'll hope so for your sake then. :)9 I don't have to like every theme they produce.
-
Steampunk would be great, there's a ton you can do with it in a variety of themes.
-
I thought no one liked the magic theme and now I hear some would like that theme to be revived? :hmm:
I definately would like more kinds of dogs - if it wasn't for the dalmatian and the German shepherd the variety of Playmobil dogs would be poorer...
I want an English shepherd, a golden retriever, a doberman and a chihuahua!! ;D (if there's small animals like birds and mice, why not a chihuahua? :))
-

sure... I don't like them all either ;)

There are golden retrivers Luis.... or at least I think they look like....

I have said this somewhere else .. But lets go again! #always! :yup:
(The day you stop dreaming is the day you die :P )
smallest stuff :
1. copper coins (all right, they'~ done it already, but it isn't available in any common pirate set yet ...)
2. Roman coins (Roman numerals I, II, V, and at the backs, things like an eagle or an owl, a galley, and a figure of an emperor! ), (dull) gold, silver & copper
.. There was something else, that escapes me now ... :-[
Gus
:blackhair:

nah, those aren't golden retrievers - plus playmobil has used that dog mold many times and has only changed the color ::)
I want new dog models :)
-
I'm for that. A long-haired cat would be nice too.
-
This reminds me of cats ... I'd like all kinds (positions) of cats, every colour ... Like, there's isn't a sitting orange cat, nor a sleeping one ... There should be three positions in all colours.
Also (I remembered this one), I'd like white rabbit-people :bunny:
-
Maybe there should be one in the classic licking itself clean pose, while we're at it!
Or stretching. Stretching would be cool.
-
speaking of playmobil cats, it surprises me that with the amount of details they haven't yet made cats with spots or stripes...i'm not a big fan of (real) cats but I want a grey cat with dark stripes on his back :)
more positions too er....cat positions!
-
Maybe there should be one in the classic licking itself clean pose, while we're at it!
wait a minute.... WHAT pose is this? o_O umm..... lol. Maybe that would be a little TOO realistic!
-
 I was wondering if anyone would catch that!
-
wait a minute.... WHAT pose is this? o_O umm..... lol. Maybe that would be a little TOO realistic!
Why not? The cow pasture has dung heaps, next there should be cat litter boxes with nuggetts, & after that we need a cat licking its,....:hehe:!
-
Now who wouldn't buy that set!
-
OMG I'm so LMAO in my chair right now! Lol! You crack me up BonnieBeth! And then juxtaposed with Bill chiming with comical banter disguised as short but sensible comments, lol. We should start are own morning radio talk show lol.
-
  We do sound like a radio talk show, don't we?
-
Then the little children could use a kitchen spatula from utensil set 30511600 to remove the litter box nuggets! The 30628332 grain sacks could be used for the bags of kitty litter. :giggle:
-
While we are at it how about a realistic dog set. Squatting pose, pooper scooper, little baggies...
-
(http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/8143/pict75.jpg) (http://img839.imageshack.us/i/pict75.jpg/)
Got the robotic poop scooper covered! :)9
-
Yes, that's right! I had forgotten!   Too bad they don't have these in real life.
-
Too much champagne last night guys?
What time do you get together? this sounds like so much fun.!

[edit]
You should open such a thread "radio talk show" in the PFZ ... But I am afraid it might end up like the Playmofriends Pub I opened, then, on second thought, maybe not .. :-\

I didn't see the edit until just now... That would be a cool thread! Basically the same idea as the pub one, but less alcohol. ;D

TRYing to kidnap the thread back ::) :P
I'd like to see versions of old klickys in new klickys, just like the ones attached look like old & new versions of a same concept ...
-
We should start a thread tonight as suggested named; WPFZ Radio Talk Show! bb & BB & Playmofriends as your hosts ;D! Yes caller WoT, you say you want more historical knights? Well, don't we all want more historical nights ;)? I say, wasted days & wasted knights! Oh please,.....just stop me,.....   ! See ya later gator!

Just to make it spund like a radio station, i think. They usually start with W.

you are right... this one and this one:

maybe mods should put them together?

(What's the "W" for? ??? ..)
Here in the USA, all radio & TV stations on the eastern coast to middle of the country start with a W---, & all radio & TV stations on the western coast to the middle, start with a K---.
-
I didn't know that was how it worked, Bill! I was thinking some also start with K. That explains it.

Got your back! :)9
-
There are two threads ...
You guys are really funny together :P
Hey ... This guy's legs should be blue ... But they went nice as red, all right ::) (attachment copied from PlaymoDB .. Er .. can we do that, btw? 8} )
-
They got used to do knights with coloured torso and silver/golden arms & legs, but I like the opposite: silver/golden torso, and coloured arms & legs as it were with the old style '70s knights playmo ...
-
(enjoying your banter bb and BB, I have suggested this in the past we could easily open up a IRC chatroom, to complement this forum!!)
I would really enjoy seeing a Red Panda , or a Wombat. Those two animals really are in the fluffy and cute realm that I think will score highly with several groups.
Also I would love to see the Gnu's make a comback.
-
Yes, I'm with you on all three. I don't know why they discontinued the gnus; they were really cute, and I think everyone knows what they are from Lion King.
-
Back to the original question and discussion as the topic has derailed a bit , i agree with Wolf on space and ancient greeks. I dont see the greeks happening , clearly the romans were not a big success and there are no roman movies in the pipeline as far as i know to re spartk interest . A ancient greek themes could possibly differentiate that much from the romans, still fairly similar soldiers, horsed chariots perhaps a temple instead of an arena. i would love to see these but i dont see them happening
As far as space is concerned, the latest attempt by plamobil on space with the earth and alien series was again not a sucess and i have to say the system x space station did luck character and style and features , comparing to for example the 10+ years of 3666 clearly it was a bit of a flop. I am pretty certain that the old playmo space series was more sucessful and i have to say more educational . i had it all with over 80 astronauts and all vehicles ground and space but all lost in a flood. :'( :'( :'(
I think a NASA based theme, perhams in some loose collaboration with NASA for spacecraft desings etc plus some clever marketing strategy ( discount tokens for nasa museum visits with large sets etc ) would gain more followers and enjoy a better commercial success . A lunar base, deep space spaceships and probes, mars buggies etc these woudl be easy to make ( have a look at the spy series ) and would be highly educational also toy line . My wish is for this. with our population on the increase we need to get kids more space travel concious and orienetd as inevitably we will have to go out htere for resopurces and living space.....   .... playmoibl lead the way I say !!!!

I wholeheartedly agree... wonderful idea! I think children, especially young boys would love a set like this.
-
Yes a great idea, but royalty's are always a draw back!
-
Let's keep dreaming small.....
I would like to see a Limusine done!
-
Ooh, that would be cool!! They should have done that as part of the wedding theme.
-
Ooh, that would be cool!! They should have done that as part of the wedding theme.
Yeah.... and it is a good idea I think. I limo can be used in all the modern themes. (zoo, police, dollhouse, hospital, etc....even the NASA theme propoussed by Giorginetto!)
-
Zoo? i wouldn't have thought of a way to put a limo in a zoo theme. How do you mean?
-
Well....a very rich family can take the kids to the zoo ...right?
-
Very true!
-
or maybe the Mayor is going to cut the ribbons for the inauguration of the zoo... stuff like that
-
lol you have lots of imagination Gaston ;D I too would never have come up with the use of a limo for the zoo theme until you mentioned those concrete examples :P
how could we use a limo at a hospital setting though? :hmm: ;D
-
Hmmm... maybe the mayor's wife is in the hospital and he's coming to visit her?
-

Sir Wolf brought the idea up of a NASA space shuttle. I am looking right now at a large poster of Buzz Auldrin as an astronaut on the moon , while on the apollo 11 mision which i have framed in my home office room..... For me this is the greatest moment of mankind and i have written a published article on the significance of this mission for human evolution when at university. did you guys now that apollo 11 had a golden olive tree branch attached to the eagle landing module and they delivered it to the moon, that was 'part of the apollo 11 mission goals ' and the apollo 11 patch had a eagle carrying that golden olive branch . What a glorious moment for all mankind that watched unified that landing. Epic. i would love to see a Apollo 11 theme .... how educational and great would that be ....
-
Hmmm... maybe the mayor's wife is in the hospital and he's coming to visit her?
yep
or on the way to his office the mayor helps a woman to give birth.... in the limo... and then drive her to the hospital
-
we're kind of putting together a photo story here lol
-
I've been thinking of making a whole playmobil island city and calling it Plombylia (playmobil rearranged) so this mayor who has a woman giving birth in his car can be the mayor of plombylia. It's gonna be an island resort type area, so I need to build hotels. Ok, I'm off topic again. :-[

-
Right, to bring rich customers to the hotels in my resort city. :yup:
-
I'm in the middle of making a limo. will post when im done 8-)
-
there's actually a playmobil hotel in one of those online games on the official website (i think it's the one about catching the thieves...)
they customized a building using parts mostly from the large fire station
EDIT/update: wait a minute a just double checked and it's actually a MOTEL
cool i want a motel for my klickies
-
What is the difference between a hotel and a motel anyway? I've never understood that.

-
yeah motels have pretty bad reputation down here lol
-
what set number is the playmo motel??? ???
-
Aha! Thanks, I've wondered this for a long time. I usually hate motels! I don't feel safe with my window facing outside instead of to an indoor corridor. I guess it's safer in case of fire though. Wow, I'm off topic. Sorry!

HI
Dont you think the space shuttle would be a bit dated? It would take Playmobil a few years to get it to market and it is being phased out right now. I really do not see the educational value in thinking we someday can abandon our planet. I mean really as if humans have not created enough trouble on this planet now we need to do it again elsewhere. It is amazing how much garbage we have already dumped in space :'(
How about a theme that is more green like solar stations, wind turbines, electric cars, cold fusion things of this nature. Or just more natural elements that not only teach our kids but help them learn to respect and care for what we have/had and the amazing planet we are on.
Mr B loves to toot his own horn how he is so ahead of his time so why not make toy building with grass and plants on them, or cars with solar panels on top.
Rasputin "The Mad Monk"
-
L#$% had a wind turbine type theme recently. Might look like they are copying them.

HI
Its way too late for that. These two companies are always copying each other. Sometimes when I want an idea as to what one or the other is going to do I look to the other. I often wonder how many spies each has. I know that Pixar (my old child hood friend works there) has a very elaborate system in place to protect new ideas so I wonder what Playmobil and Lego does for theirs ?
I see this as not a valid reason to teach about modern renewable resources . Or Playmobil could just keep cranking out strip mining toys for the future generations if there are many. :help:
I know how to step it up on Lego. How about making some green sets out of polylactic acid PLA (commonly known as corn resin) Then if you find yourself in Damo's situation you can just eat your Playmobil. No more chocking hazards either

i would like to see the ancient greek theme and greek art like real life statues (not like the playmofigure-like in the roman arena ) and greek temples like the parthenon for ex. it would be nice to see some famous stateus made by playmobil ..

I would like to see rollers.... but those that had two lines of wheels.... like in the 70's
-
this idea came up some weeks ago and the more i think of it the more i like it:
the 1950s
like in the film "american grafitti" with "mels drive in" and a lot of cool cars , hod rods , muscle cars , 50s figurs , could be elvis also. , a jukebox playing rock´n roll , neon signs, 50s surfer + car , just think of a police and fire brigade 50s style !
here are some pics:

.........that would be a dream and it would be something new.....
i just saw that the topic is DS...so if there is a better place for this idea please mod team move this to the right spot - thx
-
Took me a while to move this; I couldn't seem to find the topic I was looking for!
Skywalker, I think this is a fantastic idea! Poodle skirts and juke boxes and vinyl records and muscle cars, 50s style diner, it would be fantastic!
-
Awesome suggestions Skywalker!!!
-
yeah!!!! the 50's my other favorite era next to Victorian!!
-
bb: thx for moving ! let´s hope the right people see it...
-
:o :o :o :o :o YES! :wow: :wow: :wow:
-
i know the car is from the 60s but you get the idea ;)

-
...i see thousands of dads storming TRUS....
-
Buddy Holly Glasses would be a must have @ DS
(http://i32.tinypic.com/4v32v9.jpg)
-
The retro 50's era theme would be great, Skywalker! Playmobil wouldn't be able to say,...it's limited to just the USA market, look at how tried & true the western cowboy & Indian, along with the Confederate vs. Union themes have been over the years. They have been there in the beginning and reintroduced over & over. There are still people collecting them.
-

I am one of them ;D I'd love to see these 50's sedans with the long wings produced in playmobil style!
-
I don't collect modern themes. I do have a few modern sets but I would buy everything in American Graffetti style theme!
-
...the 5 year old daughter of my best friend has a model of a chevrolet corvette 50s in mint green ( playmo scale ) - she has some playmos and her best ones are allowed to drive in that car - she really loves it - my friend said it´s the toy she plays the most with
Elric : same here - i would go in the store and buy the hole theme at once.
-
and as a special :

:omg: Most definitely! :)9
-
I love this theme already!!!
Please Playmobil! PLEASE!!!!!! :woohoo:
-
Could you imagine a bunch of rat-rods in playmobil. Geobra could even advertise (if they ever get around to it in the US that is) this theme at classic car shows
-
wow - what a feedback. i think the idea has potential...
and like Bill said i also do not see a problem with an authentic US theme. people will love it in the US and outside because it is authentic. also it might be a great way to make playmobil more known in the US which is not the baddest thing...
the egypt theme was nice but i think this is better !
...and i see a lot of custom stickers for the rods...
-
Sorry but i dont see that selling much ... 50s is too far back for people to get interested , though i might be wrong as the ' golden era' for US may have appeal to some , but for today's kids ?????? :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
-
It may be a good way to get more adult collectors! A little advertising,.....and tah dah! ;)
-
show kids a model of a new car and one of a 50s car - i bet at least 50% will like the 50s car more
adult collectors will like the theme for sure.

Speaking for mine, yes. He's as fond of 50s and 60s American cars as he is of modern cars, he likes hot rods and the idea of a drive in movie fascinates him.
I think it's a fabulous idea for a theme, and love it or loathe it, the music of the late 50s and early 60s (Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochrane etc) is known worldwide, as is the "scene" which went with it.

what do you mean 50s is too far back :uhoh: :omg: :o :'(
I was born in the 50s 8-)

I would like to see an Elvis, James Dean, & other specials from that era, however there would probably be a royalty problem.
-
50s theme is an awesome idea Skywalker. I would love some hooligans in leather jackets with slicked back hair, switchblades, and tire irons. Rumble in Brighton. It would be awesome to recreate those races where the chick stands in between the two cars and drops her hanky to signal the start. Dead Man's Curve or some such.
-
hmm... 50's it's intresting but what will this theme's name be? and what it will have? :hmm: :hmm:
-
I think kids would love the theme, not because they remember the 50s, but just because the colors and all would look really appealing. Pink and blue diners lit with "neon lights" (maybe glow in the dark, or something) muscle cars in mint green, cherry red, etc, pink poodle skirts, all very appealing, I would think.
-
The 50s would be a fantastic theme :D I would I love to see a Playmobil jukebox! It would be fun if they released decade specials. I can only imagine what the 70s would be like 8-)
-

Seriously , playmobil wont even go near this . I think the 50s is somethign that Playmobil will never produce , i cant see the appeal for it , very limited for a global market
-
mayne a pink 5300 would fit finally in here :p

a pink 5300 ? ??? why?
-
I remember it being suggested elsewhere but I will bring it up again.
How about a big Halloween theme, not just some specials.
A haunted 5300 house. Boarded up windows, bats, spider webs, ghosts and the house with a distressed paint job (similar to the custom of ? ? ? sorry forgot the name) Then a whole line of Klickes to fit
-

yep a whole halloween theme would be cool too. but how much is halloween celebrated in europe? is it the same as USA?

mmmm i don't really like this idea it kind of reminds me the ghost pirate theme :loco: :loco: :loco:
-
Haloween theme will be a flop i reckon just like th eghost pirates as alex said. i would love to see one but i dont see this happening . I am sure its impossible due to lego licence but only if playmobil could get into star wars.... an army , a vast army of playmo imperial stormtroopers and x- wings and tie fighters can you imagine what massive sales would that bring to geobra nad probably justify a costly licence....
as i am a huge fan of star wars care to guess how may stormtroopers i would end up buying ??? i dont want to even think about it !!!!!
Back from dremland, time to bring some proper western town houses and revised western theme. :P :P :P :P :P :P
-
There's got to be something left for us to customize. A haunted house is a lot more fun to create than to buy, IMO.

I do think a colorfull whole new 50's theme would be a smash hit!! For kids and collectors! Come on, kids weren't there when mammoths were around and we still think they will love that theme! so why not the 50's??- It is as prehistoric as the mammoths
PLEASE GEOBRA READ US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I think it they wanted to reach kids interest today they would have to make some poke-me-man themed sets :P
-
poke-me-man
:giggle:
-
50s: Yes, Pok-e-mon: No. And by the way, the crazy neon colors are not working either!!!
-
50s: Yes, Pok-e-mon: No. And by the way, the crazy neon colors are not working either!!!
ooooooh neon light would be sooooo cool Jenna! why not?
-
Like I said earlier, I think you could have "neon" signs that glow in the dark. :yup: It would look really cool!
-
Like I said earlier, I think you could have "neon" signs that glow in the dark. :yup: It would look really cool!
oh you said it first! sorry!.... I need to sleep
yes it would be very cool!
-
Neon lights would be amazing!!! But the strange neon colors Geobra is choosing for the princess products are absolutely horrid!
-
oh now I get it. yeah those colors are horrible!
-
For the fifties it could be quite authentic, though! Picture a silver diner with pepto pink and turquoise stripes, very 50s! And of course you would have to have neon signs, and waitresses on roller skates with pink aprons, platters with cheeseburgers and malts, and customers with poodle skirts, white socks, scarves around their necks... Oh, and a malt shop with an old-fashioned soda fountain with soda jerk would be cool, and an old-fashioned gas station... I could go on and on! This could be such a cool theme!!!
-
That would be so amazing! A 50s theme would look so cool! In my hometown, they still have a genuine fountain soda at the "Old Owl Drug" (because it was the drugstore and giftshop that had the classic malts and the juke box) I would LOVE to have something like that on display in Playmobil ...
-
I just LOVE jukeboxes! They're soooo cool!   I would be so happy if playmobil made one! I would hope it would be really cool though, and maybe have liquid and glitter in the multi-color tubes to simulate the bubble effect, and play a few vintage tunes. :yup: Not just a hunk of plastic with a sticker on it. :hmm:
-
Oh yes, they would have to do something creative to simulate the real thing. Even if that entails glitter in plastic :P I think they would do something really neat, though. One of the things I like best about Playmobil is the attention to detail and the ingenuity. What about saddle-shoes? ;D
-
Definitely a must! And we'd need some new hair-dos, too! We already have ponytails for the girls, but we'd need greaser dos for the guys. And like someone else already mentioned, cateye glasses. ;D
-
Ew. I hope they don't. No offense to Harry Potter fans. But I don't like it.
good to know i'm not the only one
neither do i want to see a PM version of star wars...0)
-
Well they could re-release the steam train and it would fit in
-
I like Star Wars, but I wouldn't want to see a playmobil version. I like how pm stays away from licensed stuff like that.
-
Well they could re-release the steam train and it would fit in
That would work, especially the electric original version!
-
You mean for the 50s theme?
An old style telephone would be neccessary and old rabbit-ear TVs with black and white western stickers.
-
old rabbit-ear TVs with black and white western stickers.
No way,...American Band Stand!
-
Even better! :D
-
I just want to see the old hot-rods and sedans and at least one in RC
-
I'm dreaming about some Playmobil "HMS Victory"-style trimasters and a few (more then 187 ::)) Geobra/Lockheed "F-22A Raptor" jets...
-
If they'd do a jukebox that has a USB slot so you can choose yourself which tunes it plays...now that would be The AWESOME!
-
I like Star Wars, but I wouldn't want to see a playmobil version. I like how pm stays away from licensed stuff like that.
let's hope it'll stay like that forever :prays:

Yeah, that would be great!

I just want to own 1 of those...
(I am talking playmo version and real life.)
-
Come on Playmobil : the Diner and 4 Cars would be a great start !!!!
1. Hod Rod
2. Muscle Car ( i know those are more 60s / /70s ) but who cares
3. Cadillac
4. Transport Vehicle Custom / Hod Rod Style
--------
Diner with jukebox and great other parts , milk shake machine etc.
---------------
and as there are still a lot of these cars around and even these diners still exist it could be a part of the modern city theme. just think of car shows - very popular today....
-
That's quite true, all this could be easily incorporated in a modern theme. A lot of places still have juke boxes, too. Ooh, you know what else would be cool? A pool hall! A playmobil pool table would be awesome!
-
Ooh I like that idea :yup:
-
bonniebeth : yeah...i saw one in a western diorama it looked great !
Gis: great idea with the usb stick ! they should make one with playmobil logo - you carry it with you - this is a great promotion item and just think of the faces when you sit outside with friends doing a BBQ and pull out your little playmojukebox playing music...so cool
-
 That would be fun!
-
More then fun, that would be great!
The only problem with adding these to the modern theme is you still wouldn't get the klickies.
-
mp3 jukebox with a playmobil logo!!! I want one!!!
-
Yes, I would want it to be an actual 50s theme with klickys in appropriate clothing and hairdos, but the pieces from it could be used for modern themes, too.
-
A playmobil pool table would be awesome!
Klickies with elbows would be good!
-
 Good point!
-
Klickies with elbows would be good!
:o :o :o would that be playmobil? its too radical!!
-
The footballers had knees, didn't they? Or did they? I haven't got any. Did they just have independently moving legs?
-
the victorian arms are not straight. that counts for an elbow IMO.
that is as far as I would go
-

no knees on the footballers... as you said, Alison, only indipendently moving legs.
-

Only the female klickies had slightly bended arms, the male klickies had straight ones. Not sure about t********** ones.

piccies to explain coming ;)
-
come on people! don't make me say it!
-
It's okay, you don't have to explain it, bb explained it to me.
-
Jukebox with a USB port is an amazing idea. That would be so cool.
How popular would a 50's theme be outside of the states I wonder? The image that comes to mind when I here the 50's is more of a stylized version (think Grease, Leave it to Beaver) than actual reality. Sure they're were diners and waitresses on roller skates and hot rods, but the 1950s was also a time of grinding poverty for alot of Americans, crumbling inner cities, racial segregation. My point is that most people (inside the US and out) picture the stylized version which would make pretty cool looking Playmobil. The playmo smile would be so perfect on a 50s June Cleaver looking housewife with an apron over her immaculate dress holding a tray of milk and cookies.

That would make for a pretty neat custom in the meantime :toot:
-

Unfortunetly I suck at making customs. :-[
Also, the lack of a playmo dress that isn't ankle length is a problem. :-\
-
I think Elaine did one that was knee length, or you could do a poodle skirt. Just throwing some suggestions out there :P
-
Yes, I've been thinking, to do a poodle skirt will call for a new design.... one reason it would be so cool!
-
Sorry to get back to an old topic,
But I think 45* arm bends would be awesome!
They would look great for knights, they could "bend" their arm back while jousting.
Doing so would make them look like they are leaning forward.
And they would be good for fighting with a shield and sword because the objects will be closer to their body,
meaning it will look more realistic.
I am sure the bends would be good for other themes,
But I really focus on the medieval so I haven't looked into the other scenarios.
-
I know the arm bend is blashpemy in some circles but it sure would enhance the posing of alot of figures. What comes to mind is western figures and the repeater rifle. There is almost no way now to get them to look like they're actually shooting or aiming that thing.
-
Hadoque, that pirate fellow of yours lives round here somewhere. I've seen him in town several times but still have to pluck up the courage to tell him to lose the beard

I live in Cornwall (the pointy bit bottom left of Britain!). It is said of Cornwall that it is "like a Christmas stocking where all the nuts have collected in the toe!" Life round here makes League of Gentlemen look like a documentary ;)

I want a whole new theme
old china/japan
with a house with a pagoda roof, these nice sliding doors and women in kimonos
a tea ceremony room
pink cherry trees
a rickshaw
a chinese drangon
three klickies in a dragon costume
a chinese pond with kois and a real cool chinese bridge
wouldn't that be a cool new world?
-
Yes it would!
-
Lots of people would like to see that. A Pagoda would be cool too
-
Bring back Nuremberg guards !!!!!!
:loco:
-
Asian theme would be a must have!
-
A bend arm is outrageous!!! i hope playmobil never brings out such a horrid idea :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
-
yeah, and for some reason i have the feeling we're not far from seeing an Asian theme released - i hope next year?
-
yeah, and for some reason i have the feeling we're not far from seeing an Asian theme released - i hope next year?
me too... it seems natural Pm is heading to the Asian theme
-
I think an Asian them is on the horizon. I say that because if you look at the specials PM has produced over the years, there were vikings and egyptian specials years before a theme.
-
I was thinking about small items I would like to see in the playmo world. You know, the great thing about playmobil has always been all the little details, the things they replicate that are totally unexpected. So I was thinking, they need to carry that over into things kids relate to now. We need touchscreen phones. Not the ancient-looking ones we have now, but a totally flat one with a sticker for the screen, showing the home page with lots of apps. We also need mp3 players with earbuds for the teenagers. And a charging station for these electronics would be cool, too. Handheld video games, and game systems with game controllers would also be things today's kids would better relate to. Those things are all a part of real everyday life for most kids, like it or not, and playmobil modern themes have always been all about replicating real life.
Also, my mom was saying that the western sets really should have tumble weeds. It would be especially cool if they were bouncy!
-
I would love to see some urns and things like that for the stone-age theme. Would be great to make a burial site.
Bogro
-
I am guessing that the stone age will not see new batches released in the future aside from DS stuff and maybe a few sets next year or so.
It's a great theme of course but I doubt it will be one to stick around.
An asian theme would definatly be great, it is something Lego never managed to do properly so it would be great to see Playmobil pull it off.
They still need to work a bit on their samurai armor though, more appropriate footwear and an improved helmet seem to be needed still. And shorter katana models.
-
this is my wish list till now:
1. Scottish with kilt and bagpipes
2. Fire man with rescue cut off Saws
3. Husky dog
4. Of road fire engine
5. Canadair fire plane
6. lifting air bag for fireman
7. usa style fire engine Tiller ladder
8. usa style Rescue engine/pumper
9. usa fire hydraulic platform
10. usa style heavy rescue truck
ryan :blackhair:
-

And a lot more, like a woolly rhinoceros, a glyptodon and megalithic tombs, maybe a fishing caveman in a primitive boat. However, I agree with Rhalius it will probably not happen. :( :'(
-
They did a Husky type dog in the past

but it would be nice to see it in the new dogs series they are coming out with. Woolly Rhino would be great to see too.

Thanks for the pic, Tim!
I'd love to see, like many people, a Feudal Japan theme - but, not only Japan. Perhaps China and, oooh, India! :)
-
Bloodhounds!!!! We need bloodhounds as search dogs in the police or rescue theme! They could be posed with their noses down to the ground. Wouldn't that be cool?

I would like to see a tandem bicycle to carry two klickies :)

Didn't you guys ever play Age Of Empires 2?
-
LOVE that game :)

trEbuchet of course... :)
the small little catapult is just for kids. i want a huuuuuuuge one !
would be really great

Thx Elaine ! Great pic !
i love these documentarys were they rebuild these weapons and test them. would be great to have one in the garden. if your neighbour gets on your nerves.....kawummmmmmmm

Should have played computergames more often probably. Anyhow, a big one PM-style for throwing big rocks would be nice!!! 8-)

Can't throw big rocks. Some moronic kid could murder another with those.. Like the cannonballs...
-
Hmm, I thought the small canonballs were not made anymore as an "antiswallowing" policy. The big rocks like these (30 21 5952 (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30 21 5952)) could be fine
without to much power in the trebuchet. :prays:
-
If they're too concerned about it, they could always make them out of a different material, something really soft and totally harmless.
-
They have time to think about it, cause they have to finish my woolly rhinoceros first :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:
-
And my bouncy tumble weeds! ;D
-
It's really odd that the trebuchet has always been overlooked by playmobil and lego, yet they make many fantasy siege weapons.
And primitive catapults which would not be used much in the high middle ages that they both seem to prefer, with detailed plate armors.
Trebuchets seem to be the most sensible choice, probably a bit harder to make due to the sling, but much more interesting as well, it has far more reach.
-

Please Geobra, copy this! You guys have almost all the molds.
-
... However, I agree with Rhalius it will probably not happen. :( :'( ...
I doubt it very much, too. :'( But one can dream ;)
It's really odd that the trebuchet has always been overlooked by playmobil and lego, yet they make many fantasy siege weapons. ...
I think because they're quite large and would be rather expensive Anf they aren't that well known. Except for some AoE-players and such ...
Would be cool though!
Bogro

They also appear on Lord Of The Rings
-
I believe in some other movies too, and considering that fantasy siege weapons are used it might be better to use a real one instead.
Could be about twice the height of the catapult and with a full crew of maybe four soldiers including a captain with no horse, otherwise it might get too expensive.
Or it could be part of a larger set, including a small tower to hurl bricks at. Then they could add a breakable wall in a round tower.
-
An American pilgrim? Has the idea ever been bandied about? It would go well with the current witch.
-
A large round tower might also be nice for a medieval castle.. or just as a single tower.
The size could be 2x2 like a steckhouse, but round and three floors high with rounded battlements and the possibility to put a ballista on top of the tower, or another siege machine.
-
How come of all the years PM has been alive, they've only come out with TWO decent multi-masted ships, and then a short-lived anomaly (the 4290) and a severly cherubic and inaccurate cog (the ghost ship). And then now we get a dumbed-down version of the 3940 remould.....
When will we have a brand new 2-masted brig design? Or better yet: a TRI-MASTER!
(sorry I know this is a repeat, but the question begs itself until PM GIVES US AN ANSWER (in the form of a new ship!)
-
Steck, steck , steck !!! The only worthy construction system , I agree with prev suggestion , Steck round towers where tower parts are a wider angel and therefore much larger diameter steck round towers. revised Lowering bridges with improved battlements and a new roof tile colour !!!! Bring back steck !!! i wil never stop saying this until it happens !!! and not just bakeries and all these small houses that dont even have toasts for some reason BUT proper larger steck castles !!!!
and where on earth is the much anticipated and waited for steck 4 way connector ???????????? :hmm: :hmm:
-
Was there ever a promise of the four way connector? That would be excellent.
-
Was there ever a promise of the four way connector? That would be excellent.
Will post separately... there was a massive request and response to playmobil about this ..
-
And my bouncy tumble weeds! ;D
I back this. That would do so much for atmosphere in dioramas.
-
This medieval Lady's hat! (attached)
-
I would like a big covered ox-wagon, preferably with four oxen.It could be used in medieval dioramas AND as a western "pioneer" wagon!
-
some sort of gypsy caravan pulled by oxes or horses would be nice too.
-

I like this idea and would really like to see a large medieval tower, either like a Norman keep with four small towers at the corners of a single large tower or a later round design. Castles always sell well and Playmobil hasn't really done Norman knights, so this would be a good opportunity to do so.
A 50s theme would be fun but I don't know how well it would sell.
I mentioned the Greek theme at the beginning of this thread and still would love to see it. I see the large set being a Greek temple, the medium sets being a Greek ship and a Trojan horse, and the smaller sets being a two-person two-horse Greek chariot, a group of Athenian warriors, and a group of Spartan warriors. If not, I'd settle for a single Hoplite Special.
-
they started with a 70's theme so a 50's theme doesnt seem too much of a stretch. ;)
Although it might be better to make a few sets like that as some sort of anniversery or such instead of as a theme. A 50's diner would be nice for that.
-
This medieval Lady's hat! (attached)
this would be AWESOME!!!!
-
I want clothes (hats,collars...) and items (drumms etc.) to dress kids as drummers or ship-boys for my armies and navy. ;)
I would love to see a drummer character from the Napoleonic era. As well as a bagpipe player in full Highland outfit.
-
Some ancient greek warriors would be nice ... ;)
-
yes, maybe a 'Troy' based theme with a wooden horse, city walls, heroes like archilles, and even the Gods (imagine a Zeus, Hera, Hercules etc). Could be a good set.
-
Well they could have a theme in which each set is based on a mythological story, although a focus on just ancient greece without mythology could also work.
I believe I made a topic about it here somewhere.
-

group of Spartan warriors. If not, I'd settle for a single Hoplite Special.
Good idea - what about some Norman and Saxon soldiers. How good would it be to recreate Hastings! Shield walls, Norman Cavalry. A few of the older Viking sets would do for Stamford Bridge.
As for the Spartans - yes, along with some Persian soldiers for a recreation of Themopylae.
-

The 5150 Turbojet (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5150) has been one of my favorite sets from Future Planet . Why not, in the grain of the collectible horses and motorcycles, make a series of 3 or 4 collectible turbojets? The expensive edge could be taken off by removing some of the technological aspects, like some of the flashing lights. The turbojets could be a limo with a couple of well-dressed Klickys, a yellow taxi with a glowing sign and a driver, a hippee style turbojet with flower prints and maybe a 'regular' vehicle with a somewhat-futuristic family of Klickys.
Ace :brownhair:
-
a yellow taxi with a glowing sign and a driver
This reminds me of the film The Fifth Element.
-
Yes it does, and it's a great idea. Somebody's bound to do it and put it into one of the shows in Europe.
-
All they would need is a Leeloo figure to ensure sales. And it wouldn't surprise me after some of the Fi?ures series people... Though I would rather Playmobil not move into franchised or media-centred products (like a lot of others here it seems). But I could realistically see a futuristic theme that is more "normal" and less adventurous as Future Planet, like you mention, Ace.
-
I read some of the ideas and there are some interesting ones.
The one thing that stood out though is that people lump china and Japan in one theme like the entirely different culture are identical. I thought they were totally different and would each require a theme of there own ::)
-
I, for one, would love a carnival/fair theme...ferris wheel, junior roller coaster, carousel. Could be awesome, albeit expensive.
-
That is my fondest wish. Gotta have bumper cars, too. And maybe a dunking booth. And consession stands with cotton candy.
-

Not to mention a Ferris wheel! It's be an awesome theme; and fit well with the circus sets.
-
Yes, I want a ferris wheel really bad!
-
I do not know if it would be a great seller amongst kids or parents buying for kids but I have a feeling collectors would gobble up a carnival theme
Oh I would love to see members custom "carnies" ;D If you do not know what that is, it is the strung out, drugged out workers at such events  You could use the switching face, one side all happy ready to take your $1 and the other all red, baggied eyed messy looking ;)
Do they have such things in Germany, the traveling truck carnival ?
one big vote for a Carnival theme :confetti: :yippee: :prays:
-

I'd have to disagree. Kids would love toy carnival attractions, in my opinion.
-
I think so too, especially if it focuses on the more kid-oriented and "glittery" aspects of a carnival. Like a ferris wheel, with an add-on kit to make it light up. That could be the main, most expensive set in the theme. Then bumper cars and carousel for the other fairly big sets, a kids' roller coaster, duck shooter booth, a cotton candy seller as a small set to go with it, maybe even a dunking booth and pony rides.
-
well since one has really never been done Geobra thinks so also.
There is really only one way to find out and that is for Geobra to make one. Come on Geobra lets see a playmobil carnival theme , you know I will buy many of every set and so will so many other collectors with expendable income
-
That would be another consideration.... there need to be some sets versatile enough to buy multiples of (really, how many ferris wheels does one person need?). Like maybe a set with three bumper cars in it, and most of us would want to buy a lot more. ;D Also if the concession stands or booths were made so as to be rather versatile and affordable, we could buy multiples for customizing.
-
what would you like to see done?
what about a 1800's city , buildings: houses-school-shops-palace?
or a 60's theme?
well just a thought, i don't think geobra has any plans for these themes!!!
The best they could do is improve the standard and safe themes... pirates-knights-dollhouse ;)
-
Its been mentioned before but i would love to see a Playmobil Porsche 911 car
-

On that theme, I'd rather see a BMW E30. 8-) A pre-1990s 911 would be great too, but I doubt either would happen.
-
no 911, to common. How about some Group B's like Porsce 959, Audi super Quattro S1, Ford RS200, Lancia Delta S4  a mans man car :cham:
-
I remember seeing pictures of a Playmobil junior roller coaster set. Anybody have pics? It was Japan-only, IIRC. Looked so cool.

I can't remember who originally posted these photos here at PF, but here they are:
-
That looks like a cool set. It's strange that they moulded those unique parts only for one set though.
-
I remember i had the woman from the roller coaster as a kid :o :o :o definatly i didn't have this set though, was it included in any other set?? ???
-
Aw yes the exceptionally rare and mysterious Playmobil Roller Coaster 3980.
I have been looking for one for many years now .... never seen one on ebay ... ever !!!! ... ( and i am on ebay since 2001...)
The set was made by EPOCH , only certain parts as the klickies are playmobil.
http://epoch.jp/ (http://epoch.jp/)
Thanks for the pictures, i think it can easily be concluded that this is the rarest (??) and most difficult to find playmobil set ?? has anyone seen any on ebay/elsewhere and if so how much does a MISB / MIB go for ??? ??? ???
-
Yeah, I've never seen one for sale on ebay, or anywhere. And I believe hardly anyone here has one. I believe playmoed has one, if I'm not mistaken. Anyone else have one? I'd be interested to know how many on klickywelt have one.
-
i have seen this set on ebay once, about 2 or 3 years ago (maybe longer)
the equivalent in euros was close to fifteen hundred usd, that i remember
wouldn't pay that much if we think it's been a long time (more than 2 decades?) since this set was available in japan...geobra might consider re-realising eventually, and much cooler (i hope)
-
:o :o :o It sold for that, you mean? I'm not surprised, really. It's that rare.
-
:o :o :o It sold for that, you mean? I'm not surprised, really. It's that rare.
yeah, 1,500 or so - i think it was German or Swedish ebay? don't remember well i need to read again a thread about it on Playclicks
-
I believe playmoed if i remember correctly has two one MISB and one MIB but i am not 100% sure .... :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
-
I remember i had the woman from the roller coaster as a kid :o :o :o definatly i didn't have this set though, was it included in any other set?? ???
The woman is the lighter blue one? Or common blue?
-
The woman is the lighter blue one? Or common blue?
the lighter blue!! now that i think of it mine was from the old gas station ;)
-
playmoed does have 2 roller coasters...
and those klickies would come repeated in almost every early set, Alex
-
and those klickies would come repeated in almost every early set, Alex
the light blue lady with the hat? :o :o :o :o really from which ones?
-
i don't know, she just looks familiar lol
btw that roller coaster is cool and rare indeed but it doesn't look as thrilling and scary as the christmas carousel
-
I'll agee with that! When I was a kid I used to spin my kid klickys around on the old carousel at neck-breaking speeds, making them fly straight out sideways. I loved that thing!
-
the old carousel was one of my first sets too and i used to do that as well! ;D
-
In fact, when most of my playmobil went to the attic, that was the one thing I kept down.
-

If that's how your carnivals operate, what are your zoos like? :o
But on the carnival idea, I reckon there should be a house of mirrors sort of attraction in the theme!
-

Yes, a house of mirrors would be awesome!
-
But on the carnival idea, I reckon there should be a house of mirrors sort of attraction in the theme!
That is an idea I really like. the metal-ish stickers are already around and if they were on a wavy background it would be those silly distortion mirrors
-
It could be a great custom actually!
-
and very fun to play with! ;D
-
Yes, a house of mirrors would be awesome!
was this a movie or something? ??? or just a house with mirrors?
-
It's a thing they have at fairs and carnivals. You walk into the building, and there are mirrors and panels of clear glass everywhere, forming sort if a maze. Once you get in there, all you see reflections is everywhere and it's hard to tell where you're going, so you find yourself walking into mirrors and panels of glass. It's a lot of fun.
-
Not sure if this had been mentioned before, but I'd love to see a small ocean liner. Preferably styled in a early 1900's fashion - that way, it would go well with the Belle Epoque theme.
-
This thread hasn't been used for a while, but I was thinking this morning about another simple item I don't think playmobil has ever done... a wrist watch. Have they ever? I haven't seen one.
-
This thread hasn't been used for a while, but I was thinking this morning about another simple item I don't think playmobil has ever done... a wrist watch. Have they ever? I haven't seen one.
I think only the scuba ones (not even sure it's a watch).. then again, it would probably be too big, no?
-
You may be right, there may have been some in the scuba sets, I need to find my diving klickys and take a look. I need one because I have a custom I made that has a thick wrist and a thin one; they don't match. So if he were wearing a watch it would make it less noticable.
-
yes there is a watch or a pressure gauge that is used in diving, its debatable but for your purpose it should work the same and do the job of hiding the wrist
-
one watch is 30 60 5330 but it looks bigger than the one I remember. I also thought is was light gray?
-
Yep, I found it. Had several of them, I just hadn't thought about the diving sets. The one I used is silverish/light gray, and I think it's from the shark cage set. I also had some yellow ones. Now the custom looks great. I may show him when I have time, he's a reality TV klicky.
-
we need more food items. We have a good selection of raw food but what about prepared foods like the new pizza platter. I really like the full wine glasses but there is no full food bowls or dishes
so I would like to see Geobra make lots and lots of food
-
Yep, I totally agree! It's really hard to set a table with anything but ice cream. Either that or a steak and two sausages. I'd like to see something like a chicken drumstick, peas and potatoes, or a plate of spaghetti, a hamburger with buns, sushi... there's so many possibilities when it comes to food! Seriously the sky is the limit here, surely they could show a little imagination and give us something else for our klickys to eat! They could do a series of klickys from around the world with a plate of prepared food traditional to that area. Or a restaurant theme with several sets that include a table and chairs, klickys, and plates of various kinds of food.
-
Yeah, food would be nice. I have fruits, veges, fish... and that's it. I need to get some bakery items.
-
The bakery items are very nice, but they always come in pairs (bread) or heaps (buns, croissants...).
They're probably trying to keep tiny items to a minimum because those are easily lost. I can't count all the little pieces that were eaten by the vacuum cleaner when I was a kid.
But a full plate of food could solve that, indeed. Barbie, Ken and friends have been able to munch on those for decades :)
-
that is one place I do not mind, buying croissants by the dozen....mmmmmmmm
-
How about an ice cream on a stick, you know, the usual ones....

Playmobil will probably never do this because they've gotten rid of our beloved Victorian theme, though some of this would work for (rich) western people. However... I would LOVE a Victorian "technology" add-on in realistic colors. The 19th and early 20th century saw some amazing technological advances. They should be immortalized in Playmo. [A few of these have already been mentioned in this thread.]
This would include:
- a treadle sewing machine with matching cabinet table (a Playmo item I have wanted since I was little; I even bought a non-Playmo mini sewing machine as a kid so that the klickies could sew.)
- a gramophone
- a typewriter
- a Penny Farthing bicycle (the Victorian theme had tricycles, but I don't recall any actual bicycles)
- a telephone
Other possibilities for Victorian add-ons (hey, while I'm dreaming, I might as well continue.):
- an early post box (The first post boxes came about in the 19th century. As a kid, I also ended up buying a non-Playmo post box.)
- a horse-drawn fire engine
- an enclosed carriage (I know some of you have awesome customs using stagecoaches, but it would be cool if Playmobil released one in colors that match the Victorian houses better.)
- the lamppost redone in black
-
Other suggestions already mentioned in this thread that I would love (provided the colors are not garish and go well with the Victorian collection):
- a proper carousel with horses or even ponies
- a ferris wheel
- a hat/umbrella stand
I had the old "carousel" too as a kid. It was one my first Playmo sets. Actually, it might have been the very first. I'm planning to get the Christmas one on my next order. It looks cute, though still not quite a carousel.
Oh, and I'd like a re-release of the klickies and accessories in 4239 (Take Along Puppet Theater) without the actual theater or with a proper (outdoors?) theater stage instead. The klickies are cool, but the take-along theater doesn't fit in a proper Playmo set up. I just can't justify buying a set where the bulk is something I'd never use.
-
- a hat/umbrella stand
A different one?
-
It'd be awesome to see one of those bicycles released. Nice suggestions, Ismene! ;)
-
A different one?
Is there a hat stand?
-
Is there a hat stand?
Yes it was 5345 Hat Stand
and there were also these lovely sets
5341 Produce Stand
5342 Fish Stand
5343 Flower Stand
5344 Pet Shop
5346 Jewelers Stand
You could make your own by getting the current weapons stand and just adding hats
-
No, not a hat stand for selling. A hat & umbrella stand like one you would put near the front door, like the one someone in this thread did a custom for (I forgot who).
I have all of those sets, naturally. ;)
-
I was just thinking about something they have never done that I would love to see... a bulldog! Like an English bulldog, the short stocky ones. They're so cute!
-

Oh , sorry for my misunderstanding. You are talking about the self standing pole with hooks on it. that would be nice and easy enough to make. it could also be used in modern sets as well.
-
I'd like to see a REALISTIC covered battering ram (with a roof), and a Trebuchet.
Mind you, not "fantasy-thingies" :hmm:, but a bit historically correct ones. :)
-
Do you really think so? :hmm:
Yes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQzUsTFqtW0 Tell me that isn't adorable!
-
It's alright, I suppose. ;D

Those would be great, but they would probably cost a lot (especially the trébuchet). It probably wouldn't work either unless there was some heavy, non-plastic weight included.
-
Yes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQzUsTFqtW0 Tell me that isn't adorable!
Aww, that is so cuute!! My clumsy retriever wouldn't be able to stay on that skateboard for even a fraction of the time that the bulldog did!
-
Talking about dog breeds... they should have some boxers (http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r624/PlaymoZoo/boxer_zps535334a5.jpg)
I mean who can say no to THAT?
And maybe some poodles.
Also, a fair with a rollercoaster, stands and other attractions would be cute and fun :D
-
Also, a fair with a rollercoaster, stands and other attractions would be cute and fun :D
Yeah, that would be cool although I imagine that some of rides such as a ferris wheel or a rollercoaster would be on the expensive side. I'd love to see cotton candy, though!!
-
I've been saying that about a fair theme for years! I'm sure it's somewhere in the 37 pages of this thread. :P I want a ferris wheel, cotton candy, funnel cakes, dunking booth, roller coaster, house of mirrors... it would be so awesome!
-
A lot of the circus parts could probably be reused in a fair theme. I don't think the circus theme did very well though, so maybe they would be reluctant to release fair-type sets because of that.
-
That is true, but I think the circus probably did poorly because of modern concerns about animal cruelty associated with the circus. Perhaps a completely non-animal circus would have done better. That wouldn't be an issue with the fair, the only animals there would be the ones in livestock competitions, which it would be cool to have with prize ribbons on them from the new pony ranch sets. Speaking of the fair, I'm looking forward to the one coming to my area at the end of this month! I think I'll go and look around with an eye for playmobil customs. ;D

That is so strange as most of the animals at the fair get eaten  our fair even had sheep racing where kids aged 4-6 would climb on and race on the track 8} then they get eaten as well. There are a lot of kids in 4H so it could also have that aspect to it, but again the livestock is sold to the highest bidder, bred and not only are the offspring eaten so are the parents.
I would love to see a Fair theme with all the rides and carnie booths. Then they could make actual carnie's to go with it
One thing I do not get is why playmobil never made a court room set. They have bad guys, police to round them up, jails to house them but then a piece of the puzzle is missing, the judgement day. A room with the judge, a jury box, defendant and plantiff table, court recorder and bailiff, that type of stuff. Give those klickies their day in court.
-
Yeah, they're doing "mutton bustin'" at our fair these days, too, and I don't like it. Poor little sheep, they don't want kids jumping on their backs!
The courtroom is a great idea! It could be a medium to large set to go with a police theme. I think that might be more appealing to kids than you'd think... my brother and I always had stuffed animals, playmobil, whatever we were playing with, going to trial for various crimes. It seems rather adult but there are so many court shows on TV, I think a lot of kids would relate to it, especially the slightly older crowd.
-
I think the court is a good idea, but I could see it being harder for them to do. German courts look different from US courts that look different from UK courts etc. Police and fire are pretty uniform worldwide, but how a courtroom looks isn't so much.
-
Feudal Japan would be a great theme and could give us awesome new buildings and figures.
I'd like to see even more fantasy items for the knights like various creatures. Maybe elves with pointy ears and such.
-

historic 1700's courtroom would be the best!!! with long powdered wigs ;D

even better, it would teach kids and adults how diffrent judicial systems work. Geobra makes police with specific colors for specific regions so they could adapt this with these

I think you're forgetting a very important snag. Klickys don't have ears! :o

And let's PLEASE keep it that way-no noses either, the new faces are bad enough!!! :( >:(

Yes, it would be weird...

I agree. :-\
I'm not really a fan of pointy-eared elves, but if they ever did release those, I think the best way would be to have the ears as part of the hair pieces. That would probably still look bad though, and I think that's why even the figures with shaved heads have bandanas or something because without ears, they'd look strange.
I think it's easy to just imagine your elves to have pointy ears underneath their hair if you want, just like I suppose we all assume they have ears at all under their hair.

I want a bright red British phone booth.

I want a bright red British phone booth.
Oooooh, that would be awesome!
-
I want a bright red British phone booth.
Put a bobby policeman with the so rare british policeman hat and you got a set that will sell millions i reckon .... ;)
-
Probably. But I'm mostly interested in the phone booth. Love British phone booths.
-
Oooooooo I would love to have a Fair/Carnival/amusement park theme!
A few different types of cows would be welcome for the fair.
More modern style cars would be good.
A Monorail type train!
I love the idea of foods such as burgers or drumsticks... A fast food restaurant would actually be pretty cool.
A new playground, kids sports...
New animals to add to the zoo or an aquarium.
There are tons of possibilities!
-
New animals to add to the zoo or an aquarium.
That sounds great! I wish they would make a big aquarium where you can put sharks or other fish in, because right now the fish and other sea animals have no place to stay at the zoo...
And new animals are always great :)
-
There are 3 or 4 new types of cows coming for the Alpine theme next year it looks like.
I have been collecting parts for an Aquarium custom for a couple of years, maybe after Halloween I can get to that project.
I love the idea of a monorail.
They really need to do a British Bobby for the Fi?ures series, or a Special Plus with a Bobby and the phone booth - or better yet a Police Box. I wonder if the Police Box is copyrighted? A Playmo one would be a huge seller to Dr Who fans.
-
There's a sylvanian police booth - got it this summer...
Not sure if pics are in the PROCESS yet. I'm behind on that :(
-
Ooh, can't wait to see your aquarium, Tim! That's a project I've had in the back of my mind, but I haven't ever really thought it through. My terrarium and restaurant both take priority right now. And after that I want to work on a complex for my polar bear, seal, and penguin exhibits that allows overhead and underwater viewing, but that will be a huge project!

but what's a police box? :-[
I know what a fire call box is and I have a friend who has some from San Fransisco. The fire call box was just a metal box in neighborhoods that had a phone in them for calling the station.
Are the police boxes the same thing?
-
This is a preserved police box in Scarobough where I live:

Here is further information on them:

The ones in S.F. were a bit different but the same concept. They were installed in 1910 and some claim they are still in and around the city. I did not know but they were double sided, Police on one side and Fire on the other.

oh wow, I never heard of those before.
Love them though!
Thanks guys! Indeed it would be an awesome accesory for the police theme!
-

A generic police box can't be copyrighted because it pre-exists the show. I prefer the red phone booths though.
-
I would like to see some western/ Mexican style buildings, the white ones with wooden roofs. A spanish mission type building as well.
I love that idea 8} I want a Spanish mission now. It could look like the Alamo. Hmmm, dare I say Mexican army?
-
Here's the Sylvanian police box (from the PROCESS) - finally got there..

that's very cute!
does all Sylvanian articules matches the scale with Playmobil?
-

No... You can see this is a bit too tall... still.. I think it's not too out of place.
But most little things are useable, especially if you don't need klickys to hold them (had a lot of food items pictured in The PROCESS).. the buidings are ok (got the Bakery there too)...
-
I agree it would be great if Geobra would make a playmobil version of that booth. I also think it is a bit big. It has a very nice looking phone, color and emblem
-
Why doesn't PM make reins for horses that pull wagons. For all the obscure items PM has created, I can't believe they can't do reins. The Roman chariots had them, but NONE of the western wagons do. I mean, how would you drive a stagecoach without reins? Speed up=whip the horse, Slow down=whip the horse. I just don't get it. 8}
Any thoughts?
-
YES!!!! That has driven me nuts ever since I was a kid, why on earth don't they have reins? 8} At least they have them now for riding horses, but the wagons need them desperately.
-
has it been mentioned about a motorcycle side car? I am pretty sure Goebra does not make a playmobil one. Also a motor bike for two klickies one one seat. Where 2 klickies are riding one normal bike with a seat between their legs. not like on the trike or the yellow news bike.
-
Just to note - the PCC has a thread started to give suggestions for new items, so if you are a member you can go there with your suggestions now.
I will be doing a post specifically on animals based on previous threads here.
-
I am not going to go read all 41 pages to see if it has already been mentioned but I had an idea after reading PlaymoMans airport idea.
I would like to see a working escalator. It could have a knob on the side that would allow a child to put klickies on it and once you rotated the know the klicky would be propelled upwards. The steps could be made of rubber so it would bend at the top to go back down on the underside, similar to the construction conveyour belt but it would have steps instead of tabs. A lot of young children are quite aftraid of these contraptions and if they had one to play with it could desensitize them to the experience, oh yes I also want one for my shopping centers :P
-
Well, I'm still afraid of those things, so maybe I need one to play with! They would definitely be a great addition to the playmo world.
-
Kids are afraid of escalators? Never saw that..
I used to LOVE them when I was little - only "in the big city", very rarely..
Actually. I still LOVE them
-
I'm always afraid of stepping onto them when I'm going down. I'm afraid I'm going to lose my balance and fall down them. Probably because I am a little clumsy sometimes. :-[ Oddly enough, my best friend is afraid of the exact same thing, stepping on to the down escalator.
-
all 3 of our kids were very reluctant to get on them, they are quite unnatural after all. We are talking about young kids 1-4 so not really in the target age group. They were not really afraid of them its just they could not figure them out at that age. A lot of parents who experience this just pick up the kid to avoid the whole mess in public.
-
Luckily for the Maltese people, the first escalators to hit the country did so c. 1989 - 90. I still remember kids my age going to the capital, Valletta, to get their share of the experience. Up and down, up and down, till it was time to go home.
-
I've seen other folks mention that they would like a fair and I agree. An carnival would help wonders in getting my novel written ;D
What should be included in the theme:
A carousel (a proper one with horses or animals to ride on). I do have both the swing carousel and the Christmas sleigh carousel, but a carousel/merry-go-round would be fabulous - even better if organ music can also be played.
Other rides too. That giant slide, perhaps?
Booths for food and midway games. (The Christmas Market is a step in the right direction).
Reissue the Japanese roller coaster set ;D
Re-release the horse tent from the Romani series - would be useful as a tent for an animal menagerie.
And while we are at it, re-release the Romani trailers - especially the strongman/weight-lifters one.
Trying to think of what rides would work/be compact enough to fit in a medium-sized set...
The jazz quartet from the Romani circus set would work in this theme as well (as well as several themes, now I think of it).
-
Klickies love giant slides.
-
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but the western theme really needs a gatling gun.
-
I'd like to see a simple bit of steck wall with a square tower released at DS. You know, the kind of set you could get 10 of to build a huge castle with, containing all the most basic parts.
Mostly wall pieces, a good number of three way and corner connectors, some windows, a door, several floorboards and battlements, some windows and also maybe two or such "wooden" frames and a ladder or two. Preferably no round pieces since they have can't really be used for anything else than building towers.
-
Right now, I would wish for for white curly baroque hair pieces. Similar to the new ones from, e.g. the newer soldiers fortress BUT with more curls and looonger. Like the ones judges are still wearing nowadays in the UK (hope I am right...).
Lego already has it:

That's a part I wish for too :yup: (of course Geobra should first give us a trimaster to capture pirates, and have these convicted by a judge wearing such a wig ;D )
-
I too would really like a hairpiece like that!
-
I'd rather have the trimaster. ;) but the wig is neat too. :)
Would be pretty neat to have a trimaster.. they could have a small carpenter's workshop in the front of the ship, an open gun deck with walkways above, and maybe even a captain's cabin and a room under the captain's cabin. ;D
