Title: seaport
Post by: hauden_lukas on August 02, 2010, 03:26:57
In order to feed people's hunger for pictures...

I am planning a seaport - the lack of time and room always is in my way. Four years ago, I made a first draft of the city.

I wasn't satisfied with the castle that should be the residence of the governor of the region. So I tried to enlarge it slightly and added some more housing for the soldiers.
Now, I am thinking about how I can integrate the city and the harbor - but that's something for the future. So, here's the latest version in Steck.

Based upon what you have shown us of your city and castle, your seaport should be fabulous.

Thanks for the photos and really looking forward to seeing more in the future. Especially the seaport!

Suuper!  :D
Looking forward to see the next phases!

I've been having the same idea for years. (and I purchase / collect) Playmobil for that purpose. But I can't imagine my portcity will grow soo big and nice as yours. Though the fleet might turn into an Armada... ;D

WOW Hauden_Lukas!

Your collection is amazing and your design skills OMG!!

Very impressive work, the city is great but the desing of the castle is truly amazing. It must have taken Ages to work it all out beforehand.

How did you take care of the flooring?

Thank you very much for sharing the pictures!

Thank you for your responses! It is nice if my work can actually inspire others (I was inspired by many many architects in various forums...)

I first had the city surrounded by a wall also at the harbor-facing side (see first pic, front side). Now I decided to have the city more open (using quite a few double arches and having more houses/storage facing the harbor) - so people can actually bring their goods and merchandise into the city without the hassle of passing a gate. This might result in a less protected city - but the outer walls are more a defense against troops coming from land.

The Licorne is welcome to let go anchor at the harbor (that's why it must be so long...)

Do you refer to Gioginetto's question?

This is in fact a problem BUT if you are using the floors shown in the image, you will not have these issues.

Alternatively, you could use these:

and use in between 2 of those:

Yes, good idea about having the portside more open, I too considered building it that way. For protection, most portcities used to have a fortress on f.e. a high cliff or rockisland nearby the harbour.

The Licorne is welcome to let go anchor at the harbor (that's why it must be so long...)

Thanks... but...humm..(*slick*, now it gets difficult)...not sure how to say this...The Licorne...well....something happened when I was moving house, about a year ago now  ::) ....Let's say it still needs a lot of work in drydock  :'(
