I've never posted pictures of my actual collection, only artwork and some customs. If I ever did it was probably back in the playmoboard years.
I will use this thread for updates throught the year.
To get started, I must say that I cannot always showcase my collection due to lack of space, hence most of my collection remains boxed and I only use certain sets when I'm going to take card-like pictures or to customize.
These are the shelves I use for the boxed sets (i still need to unpack ghost pirate and egyptian sets!)
-
The shelves on the right actually have two piles, one behind the other. ;D 8}
Anyway, this was the only picture I took last night when I thought it was a good idea to start sharing images on the forum.
Tonight I'll tke pictures of promotional items (stickers, fun cards, books, pins, cups, birthday ornaments, etc) and old catalogs. :) and I will post them tomorrow.

:)
Looking forward to more pics! I love this sort of stuff (as everyone can figure out from my ongoing neverending ramblings :-[ )
-
:o :o :o
Amazing collection Luis!
-
Wow! Awesome collection, it looks like a fantastic toy store in there!
-
Cool, very nice storing-space!
Am I correctly understanding; you mostly collect MI(S)B and only open up some sets? Or do you buy double the ones you intend to open and use?
-
thank you ;D

Tahra, actually THE PROCESS was an inspiration for me to organize my playmoroom...I had a mess before (loose klickies for incomplete projects, etc) but it's all finally sorted out. ;D
Am I correctly understanding; you mostly collect MI(S)B and only open up some sets? Or do you buy double the ones you intend to open and use?
Erwin, I'm not precisely a MIB collector - I try to buy all my sets brand new in sealed box, but I do open most of them (except for the rarest ones) when I have to use the pieces or figures for a photo shoot set up. There's still a few sets that remain unopened but I do plan to take out some time. I do not buy the same set twice with the intention of opening one and letting the other one sealed forever (I tried that once with the eskimo sets but I ended up selling the repeated ones). The ones I never keep in boxes (or with box) are the Specials. I do display those.
I also have plastic containers where I keep the add-ons and stuff I got without box. Some of the things in there are steck walls for victorian/medieval buildings, train tracks, train cars, vehicles, planes, animals, plants, fences, loose body parts, etc. See pics of that below ;D

I really like how you have used the corner space. You can get a lot into a much smaller space that way.
I am like you, I have not opened my Egyptian nor Ghost Pirate sets either. I'd like to set up the Egyptian stuff this summer.
-

Wow what impressive collections I gave up on aying I really like this and that and what have you, you've got a really awesome collection of promotional items my favourites have got to be the ones with the more vintage artwork I think generally. Love the catalogues as well always loved them asa kid and the 94/95 and 95/96 ones draw me in amongst thoswe with their familiaar covers I think you're right the old ones did have much better dioramas they were far more creative whereas now they can jsut insert any background they want the old ones were true works of art, did you ever collect any of the big posters? they were stunning as well I've got some of the old Pirate one :)s

so it is a pin..... something you tick to Styrofoam.
-
Wow, what an awesome collection Luis. I had no idea playmo made so much non-toy stuff. Those old catalogue dios are stunning. Love em.
-
thank you, Jefe! :)
Gastón, what kind of pin would they be?
they seem to hazardous to be wearable pins...even for adults. The needle is very long.
-
for Styrofoam or cork walls... or something like that. Not sure.... just thinking out loud. :-\

I think they are pin badges. They come up on eBay occassionally:

-
I can't imagine what you do use them for.... :hmm:
You're missing the point....
it says PLAYMOBIL. AND they have klickys.
:P
-
Were they actually sold to people or were they part of some larger promotional display?
-
Awesome thread
I absolutely adore the old catalogues you have! There's a lot of stuff I never knew existed.
You've got your collection neatly stacked and easily accessible, that's a real plus. I just managed to squeeze everything back in the (low) attick of our apartment, and if I need anything in the near future, I'll have to get everything out again.
Luis, I strongly encourage you to make a zoo diorama, looking forward to it 8-)
-
(have a lot of those promos too - but I also stopped back then)
Tahra, you should post pics of your promotional merchandise. I'd love to see it! :glasses:

yes it's those!!! I find them useless really, and they're dangerous! :o
But as Tahra says, they have klickies on them, which is what counts.
Were they actually sold to people or were they part of some larger promotional display?
Good question but I have no idea. I too got mine on Dutch ebay in 2005.

so nice.. i wish i had that much playmobil aswell.. but its soooooooo expensive these days..
-
yes it's those!!! I find them useless really, and they're dangerous! :o
That's why I'm wondering if they were for displays. Toys companies generally don't sell things that are too pointy, at least not in the last couple decades.

I have serious doubts that those things are official. We thought them of poor quality at the time..

It is possible. Some of them are roughly cut. Which brings us back to - what are they for?
