Thanks Sir Tim and all for your encouraging words. A 'deviation' from my medieval collection wasnt as an easy decisions as most people would think.....

That drill infact was something i looked for many years when i was a kiddo and haunted me since then as couldnt find anywhere !!!! Hopefully this weekend when i go to the den i will find out exactly how much of my old collection was saved from the flood and what spare parts i have as i need a few ....

I am still waiting for another 3534 adn another 3509 plus the antex set with the blck astronaut and robot...

I totally love the playmospace theme as its NASA and exploring oriented and non violent space whioch is rare as in movies and stuff it seems the whole universe if full of nasty aliens who want to eat us or use our resources

Playmospace i should add has a superb plastic quality  and stickers, the short of quality one finds in teh old train sets etc , very good

  Great collection!  I love the more recent Space series - before this Future planet theme -  especially the Dark Scorpions  , but these ancient ones have a special charm :)

(I REALLY do envy your space...)

It is interesting to see how people/designers conceived of space vehicles back then, in the 60's, 70's, 80's, and how much different they concieve and design them today  ;D

A good and valid point. Back in the very early 80s these spaceships were based on the new and hip space shuttle back then.... Today's sets are based on the AVATAR movie ..

However , excluding sci fi and looking at the international space station and the near future space vehicles, playmospace spacecraft are  far closer to these that those futuristic sci fi ones of ' Future Planet ' ( which i admit is growing to me by the day ....  :P :P  :-[ :-[)

I still believe the Playmospace series carry a certain stature than non of all the other playmobil space sets have.....

are these models from real space vehicles?  :o :o

I meant in sci-fi terms. The playmosapce station colourfull ''bridge'' resembles the 1960's Kirk's Enterprise bridge

However, the playmobil new space vehicles on wheels do look like actual lunar vehicles, but far more advanced.
The design could also resemble a Mars Rover vehicle (whose design keeps evolving and can be seen as a future truck on the design boards)

Sir Wolf is right. And what a great hommage this space station  was to the very best of Sci-fi  : Star Trek

As we now embark on one of my favoyrite discussions space exploration, i will refere to alex's question with reference also to sir wolf's excellent  post and pictures  above .

The playmospace vehicles are in design and concept very close to what space vehicles were in the late 70s and the early 80s which was the early years for the space shuttle. i think i mentioned that above also too. As far as the playmospace astronauts i think the white/red/yellow ones are almost a carbon copy of the spacesuits in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. Perhaps someone back then in  the design department was paying homage to the Startrek and the 2001 movie. In addition, looking closely to the space vehicles and also the sci fi movies of the era  and one should remember that in the  late 70s 'all  the hip' was about  Sci Fi ( Star Wars, Star Trek: The movie, Space 1999, Galactica, Alien)  they have ' dna strands ' from many of those movies and their spacecraft designs.

Dr. Gargarian's name based loosely on the name of a  Dr. Gibarian character of the movie Solaris ( the 2002 version not the  Soviet  1972 original which btw is superb ).

That's a great collection George.
I'd love some more of the Playmospace sets.
We only have a few, we have more of the modern sets which are OK for the likes of Junior who likes to mix the parts and make his own designs, but the old classic sets have a charm of their own.

Awesome collection, George! Playmospace has got to be one of my favourite Playmobil series - as DrDalek said before, it has a retro feel to it. Thanks for sharing us those photos! :)

Thank you Sir. I am still amazed how good this plastic quality is. Actually i cleaned one of the spaceships, carefully with alcohol and it looks as good as new . Amazing quality this playmospace series. totally different to today's quality actually.

More to follow soon from planet Krun where all this space exploration will be  (  ;D ;D ;D)
