Haven't even opened the box yet.

The more I think about it, this could be a real opportunity for PM. Nobody else is doing art and historical figures like this. L*go couldn't even compete, as their figs are too tiny to do properly detailed versions.

Let's hope the Gnomes of Zirndorf take the hint from the Luther success and really go big on this.

There's a funny little text on the side of the Rembrand box:

"Look how busy it is in the Night Watch! The civic guards in Rembrandt's famous painting are off to patrol the city. Leading the way is the captain, dressed in black and brandishing a walking stick. While the lieutenant dressed in white is holding a huge spear known as a partisan. And what is that young girl doing there?"

1. The lieutenant is clearly in pale yellow, not white.

2. What IS that young girl doing there?

Hi everyone!  I've done a bit of research in regards with the girl.....

Here's what I found.....

"The girl to the left of and behind Banning Cocq acts as a sort of pictorial mascot. She carries the guild's costly drinking horn and, at her girdle, a dead fowl, the prominent claw of which is an emblem of the Musketeers. This bird may also be intended as a pun on the Captain's name."

I feel there's got to be more to her, but also that we'll never know. The thing is, she's more brightly lit than almost anyone else in the picture, and oddly so because she's in the second or third rank, whereas the light is falling naturally on the first rank. So she's been specially picked out.

I'd guess she's someone's daughter, someone who probably did a great kindness to Rembrandt's bank account.

The real question though is: When is Zirndorf coming out with a figure of her???

"The Nightstrike"
a somewhat less famous painting (1643), by Hemdinbrandt (Rembrandt´s unknown cousin)...  ;D
wow - amazing that your work is the inspiration for this set! :o Great work.  I just ordered a set.

Thought you'd like to see this version of Nightwatch. Not a patch on Hadoque's but pretty amusing: http://www.mobypicture.com/user/fackeldeyfinds/view/16391059
