The wheels definitly look like rubber to me.

As a side-note; I think this looks more like a Quarry theme to me - but definitly awesome !!!  :-*
Thanks for the pics !!!

The wheels look plastic, Ras.

Maybe I should say "plastique" since that sounds more high class.

I do like the egg sets, though.  Man, that's a lot of stuff to cram into an egg!  But the crusader with barded horse will be a good deal at $5 or $6.  The vet egg and the panda egg don't look so bad either.

And, who knows, with the quality of production going down, maybe the eggs will be easy to crack open for once.

That would be more realistic, anyway, if a few taps against the desktop would shatter the egg.

I'd also like to get one of those knight eggs to keep up my collection of tournament knights, but they don't release the eggs in the UK. Not sure of the reason, maybe it's because we don't celebrate Easter?  ???

I think the Germans know you Brits too well for that.  They're probably afraid a British boy will try to snarf an egg while partying down at whatever European island wins the lad crown for spring break.

I think i can reply now, seeing as i have just picked myself up off the floor :o 8}. It looks as though its going to be an expensive time for me when these come out. I have had quite a few of these on my customs list for a long time but various limitations on the current playmobil parts have prevented me making them or at least making them 'big' enough. I can see quite a few of the parts are going to come in usefull, especially the wheels off the dumper truck.
My only concern is there seems to be a slight drop in the build quality or is that just me ? Its something i saw on the recent US special fire truck. They have that 'made in china' look about them. Prehaps its just the pictures but i fear this may not be the case. It seems to be a sad fact that since Hans Beck retired the build quality of Playmobil vehicles has dropped. Maybe the last batch of relases (construction theme and hospital theme) including the new helicopter and road sweeper were the last remenants of the Beck era because they looked spot on. Something about the new stuff sets alarm bells ringing, is this the end of an era. I wonder if we are going see a drop in price to go with the drop in quality ? I doubt it very much.

We will have to wait and see. At the moment i am both happy and slightly dubious.

The prices aren't what I would call low:

Prices in Euro (€):
4037 - Mega-Muldenkipper: 39,99
4036 - Mobilkran: 62,99
4039 - Kettenbaggerlader: 41,99
4038 - Großradlader: 32,99
4041 - Förderanlage mit Kompaktlader: 41,99

Ouch, thats going to hurt when they are brought out over here. We allways seem to end up paying a bit more when the sets are converted into £'s. What i really want to know is how on earth they can justify a 62.99 euro price tag on that crane. I know for a fact that when it reaches one of my local Playmobil suppliers it will be close to the £70 mark :'(. I never thought i would agree with Richard when it came to this subject, but i am really noticing changes since Hans Beck retired :(.

Does anyone have any more pictures please ? I am not a member of Klickywelt and cant see theirs :(

I do not know if i entirely agree with the theory that the quality faded as soon as Hans left. The one fact that led to Playmobil's creation was the Oil crisis of the 70's . It was a few years ago that once again we had an oil price spike

If you look at the scale you will notice two significant changes which coincide with where Playmobil has also made adjustments in products . This scale stops short of where oil rose to nearly $150 and the release of the US fire truck that followed.

In my opinion Playmobil is in a market which has a price cap. People are not going to pay for a supper high quality toy fire truck @ $100 or a single klickie @ $10. Playmobil's prices have not risen in the same fashion as a loaf of bread . Our bread here has risen 30% ( $2.99 to $3.89 ) Playmobil makes toys which are dictated directly by oil prices . Hi Tim!     Nice to see you - how's Derick?   ;)

Does anyone have any more pictures please ? I am not a member of Klickywelt and cant see theirs :(

I used to have this problem, too, but I discovered that it is really easy to register at Klickywelt and it is well worth it in order to see all the pix there.  Just follow this link to their registration page and click on the first pale blue line below the section of text (I think it says that you agree to the terms and are more than 12 years old.)  This will bring you to a form to fill in - it is pretty universal so it's easy to figure out what to put in the required fields.  I would also suggest scrolling down to near the bottom of the page where there is a little pull-down menu pre-set to "German."  Change it to "English" - this will not translate posts but it does put the website's prompts, etc. into English.

Each time you log in to Klickywelt you will be brought to the main forum page where you can scratch your head and wonder how to find the pix you were looking for.  Here's what I do:  after logging in at Klickywelt, I go back to Playmofriends (or wherever the initial link was posted) and click on the link again - this will bring you to the correct place.

Hope this works for you.  :crossed:
