Broke: Hahahaha! You are very funny!
So are you in the furniture business or what? You must be buying in developing countries?
It always is difficult knowing what to take the natives, especially the first time in a unique Third World country.
Before we go to China to visit daughter in laws family, I spend about 20 hours over two months shopping the nearby TJ Maxx stores for luxury clothing in womens Extra Small sizes. You see, most of the clothing sold in the US comes from China, but it is not sold there. Their clothing is mostly junk, so they really appreciate the nicer Chinese stuff that is sold in the US.
We carry huge rolling bags loaded with clothing for their extended family because most Chinese own about 10 pieces of clothing. And they go wild trying on everything in the rolling bags and trade until they get what they want. It is one of the most entertaining things we have done in China. Lots and lots of fun!
And we have empty bags for bringing things back if we find anything to bring. Normally it is artwork, so this works out quite well. Once it was a L house set that we could not find in the US, but DIL bought in China for us wtihout knowing we were looking for that exact set! If you need gifts for Chinese hosts, take nice clothing, and they will love you. Not sure they would like a Masai warrior special!
Any other gifts folks like taking abroad? Tried to give PM to anyone? Cheers, Pgal
