The search for the Endeavour
« on: October 28, 2011, 14:10:46 »

Its a cool morning and Grand Admiral Nok has just came up to the sterncastle. It been three days since they sailed off port to reach for his old ship, the Endeavour. Report came that the ship is marooned close to an enemy lighthouse. Since its his old ship, and he is as always eager to engage personally in battle, he commands his small fleet... Lieutenant Paran, the Grand Amiral's adjutant gives orders for a drill...

First Mate O'Brien shapes up his men, as does Captain Hawkins with his Marines....

The two men exchanged words briefly,

and then orders are shout... gunmen at their position...

..and Marines on the masts...

The Admiral gives his next orders to his adjutant ...

...and then turns to observe the manoeuvres of the escort ships.

His plan is to always set sail with two more light destoyer ships, that will break formation, flank the enemy by both port and starboard, bring it in crossfire, and let the flagship finish it off...  Drills seem to work well on both the escort ships...

And Admiral Nok as always on the flagship's bow observes the manoeuvres....

The drill is swift and succesful, but for him there is always room to improve... He gives the command for the small fleet to sail forth....

...not the end...  ;)

I love the ships!  and the custom clickies!  And your story, including battle formation references!

btw I'm lazy:  can you tell me what sets/parts you need to make your officers and gunners/sailors?  I wish pm just sold some actual british crew members (not just redcoats or admirals).

Interesting choice in ship names!  Star Trek fan?  (actually, Startrek's USS Defiant was named after the fictitious HMS Defiant).  And interestingly the Lady Washington tallship (as you probably know) portrayed both the USS Enterprise AND the HMS Interceptor!  (I bet you already knew that of course).  I love the crossover ties to the other famous ships/movies, both real and fictitious!  (and interestingly the HMS Endeavor name is shared of course as James Cook's legendary exploration ship as well as the flag ship in Pirates of the Caribbean II/III).  I love all your crossover ties!  You picked the names of the best ships in this genre!  Well done!

oh, and I just noticed the other StarTrek refences:  first mate "O'Brian" (from DS9, my favourite ST series), and the name "Tiyerta Nok" is the Cardassian term meaning "lifeflow of iron" used to describe passageways and jeffrey's tubes within a ship/station; and if I'm not mistaken, isn't the name "Paran" Vulcan? (or hindi on earth).  And is the name "Captain Hawkins" a reference to "Stephen Hawkins," genius of quantum theory/mechanics and guru to all sci-nonfiction geeks in all the universe? :D
