The firefighters are from the 1995 to early 2000 range and the gold helmets, if they are not customs, are from still earlier sets, posibbly even earlier than the one playmo1989 has linked to.  (I can't check the sets as playmDB isn't available - the message Account Suspended cpmes up.)

Yes, way earlier, me thinks... from those all red firemen, no?

the gold helmatappers for the first time in set  3234 (1976) and then appears againi in a number of sets as opposed o the regular red helmet. It was used to signify the chief of the firemen group.

Quite right, Panos.

The gold colour to me looks a little 'fresher' than the colour of the old gold helmets :-\ But who knows :P Damo :)

Very , very weel spotted , i think the old original gold helmets are of a different shade of gold, more shiny . i have one stored in one of the boxes i havent opened since the early 90s..... somwhere it is .. hidden away for nearly 20 years..... :( :(

I had it from this set

We're considering making two small old firemen groups in the rescue, since we have 2 of those tiny ancient truckys (it's a word. now.)

One in blue and one in red, and include women too! ;)   Not sure if we have that old fire chief car..
