Do you mean 'pin vise' (http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=41753&cat=1,180,42337&ap=1) or actually just holding the bits in your fingers themselves?
holding and twirling the bit itself....very sore for the forefinger (i might be ambidextrous but still prefer using my right hand for precision work

)
and leaves a permanently rough patch on my forefinger...unless I do drill for the next 12 months

....and thanks for the link WM! if I see this in our DIY shops, I'll definitely get one

(I do have a similar holder but its claws are over-sized for thicker screw-driver 'bits' and wont grip a tiny drill bit properly even if wrapped in a collar/tube)
