...

caution all boys & girls: dont even ask mom/dad to do this unless they have been doing this for years...

Always better to do it yourself, unless they are professionals.
Cause other people won't want it to succeed like you do.

...
thanks WoT and I'm visualising an army of those new samurai(s) and very keen to seen how you have personalized them!!  ;)

They won't look much like my Samurai general. :-[
He is special. ;D

I think he meant kids, don't try this at home, and maybe your parents shouldn't even try it at home. :P

...I'm using finger-powered drill bits  :-[
(I cant find any cheap power drills here, and a jeweler's drill bed would have to be specially ordered and cost a bomb...just to drill once in a few months  :P

Do you mean 'pin vise' (http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=41753&cat=1,180,42337&ap=1) or actually just holding the bits in your fingers themselves?

thanks bonniebeth! even us experts sometimes get careless and we know how inconvenient when we get a bad cut on our finger tips..(not to mention the pain :P)

holding and twirling the bit itself....very sore for the forefinger (i might be ambidextrous but still prefer using my right hand for precision work ;) )
and leaves a permanently rough patch on my forefinger...unless I do drill for the next 12 months
....and thanks for the link WM! if I see this in our DIY shops, I'll definitely get one  ;) (I do have a similar holder but its claws are over-sized for thicker screw-driver 'bits' and wont grip a tiny drill bit properly even if wrapped in a collar/tube)

What id you wrapped the end of the bit in tape until you had the right thickness?

WOW! All by hand! I could never be that patient. ;D

They look really fearsome, cheng, even at 1:24!

thanks dear Gordon & BB!

What id you wrapped the end of the bit in tape until you had the right thickness?
that wont work, WoT, the soft tapes will allow the drill bit to 'wobble'/bend out of its axis...imagine the tip of your drill bit tracing a planet's path  :P

WOW! All by hand! I could never be that patient. ;D
that's because you're making an army of them...I did say "dont ask your parents to help you cut..." but I didnt say you cant ask them to help you drill  ;D
