WOW!!!!   this is an incredible collection, and so nice of you to let us take a peek at it.  when did you start collecting?  as a child, as an adult?  congratulations on gathering so many wonderful things in one space, and for being able to care for them as well.  which do you feel is your most "rare" piece?  or is that a secret.  i also think it is neat that you have emma j's clue house.  that was beautiful.

Hi Kaethe,

I never stopped being a child and being a child from the seventies (1970 to be exact) Playmobil was the only toy I wanted. I even remember getting the first blisterpacks in 1974 and now 36 years later I got them again  :D. MIB collectors are a rare breed, a lot of people don't understand that I won't open my boxes (although I have some loose Playmobil as well), but to me the old boxes (with the beautiful dioramas on the backside of the boxes) are 'sacred'. You can call me a 'nostalgist', time is flying, so if I can relive my childhood a bit through collecting than that gives me a pretty good feeling

Greetings,

Eddy

Hi Luis,

Mariano (Gassy) is a great guy, he has visited me twice for a little Playmobil Collector's meeting at my house. I am Dutch, but I live in Germany since 3 years. To tell you the truth, very little of my collection comes from Germany, old toystores have disappeared and the ones that still had old Playmobil have been plundered by dealers. I have been lucky a couple of times in Spain and The Netherlands, but most of my collection comes from auction sites. Like you I also collect promotional items like giveaways, keychains, calendars etc. etc. I also have an extensive collection of rare dealer catalogs.

so cool! 8-)
Enjoy the elegance and fun of 1900 with The Victorians photo story! :gent: ;D :sherlock:

I think we are all of the same mind, except that my children were born in the 70s and I can remember getting their first happy meal toys.  We never let them eat fast food, as there is zero nutrition in it, but I remember making an exception for those first Playmobil sets.  I saved all of them, the silver is almost gone on my son's favorite knight, and that early firetruck (I saw it in your calendar photos) that was so fragile has survived.  I remember spending hours and hours in the one toy store that carried the line, but we were a young family with what seemed like a huge mortgage payment and we were not able to buy many of the sets.  Now, I am slowly collecting the sets we wanted back then, and of course much more.  Thank you again for taking the time to post the photos of your incredible collection.
