awesome!  Got my eyes glued to this thread!  Any pics of the actual ship by chance?  all I could find was this:



Looks like ideally you'd have to go MacGuyver style and splice two ships lengths together, add a midcastle at the ship's halfway point, and add another mast as well.  But if you're going for a simplified homage to the ship then of course you don't have to go that elaborate. Sorry, you got me all excited, lol.

And kudos to the homage to your Grandfather and the personal connection to it.  I have the same pride whenever I mention my Grandpa being on the cover of Time Life magazine with two other soldiers from his battalion during the Korean War.  Hmmm, perhaps I should re-create the cover scene ala playmobil as you are doing!

EDIT: ok, the embedded link to your ship wasn't working, so I just uploaded it directly (1st pic below).  And my grandpa (not to hijack your thread, sorry) is in the 2nd pic, the Filipino soldier (fighting in the U.S. army)  on the left.)

Thanks guys, I have some new photos of my ship with a few more modified parts.
It is still in the thinking stage, but there are a few small things that are complete. :)
(Ill post pictures later today)

Sorry BP, but as far as I know, that is the only picture I could find. :-\
Unless my dad has a picture my grandpa took. ???
