Maybe I should get mine insured; i haven't done it yet. But I think I would keep a copy of the list of sets and pictures showing what I have in a bank lockbox or something like that, because they say there is no such thing as a fire proof safe. If the fire gets hot enough, what's inside will be damaged or destroyed.

Maybe we have all been thingking about this because 2012 is closer and closer!!!

Seriously?  :hmm:

I actually have an aztec calendar on my keychain.  my sister-in-law is from mexico, and when my brother went with her to visit her family, he brought back aztec calendar keychains and temple of the sun keychains for everyone.

what part of Mexico is she from? :) oops we're going off topic here :-[
PS I think the mayans were not just from Mexico, they were spread all over Central America (like Guatemala and further down)

I wonder if insurance companies will cover disasters provoked by 2012

A very small town close to Mexico City. In the mountains. I can't remember the name. It's not spanish, but aztec and is very long.

  • Greetings from USA :) Pirates, Ahoy!
I remember when Y2k approached, I made emergency kits for each of my family members with enough provisions, clothes, food, and walkie-talkies/batteries to last 3 days.  I had the emergency kits stored in my trunk of my car which I also equipped with CB radio (in case satelite cell phone communication went down) and made sure I always had a full tank of gas.

On Jan1, 2000 I remember everyone scrambling for gas at the gas station and was glad I had already kept mine full.  I spent about $500 on Y2K preventative emergency measures just in case, and had worked out a plan of escape/survival with my family.

But....nothing happened.

My emergency kits are now useless because my daughter has outgrown the clothes I put in it, as have I (lol, gained weight) and am no longer married to her mother (whom the other kit was for).  And the food is old.  So, I should probably make a new set of kits just in case 2012 histeria causes an emergency just from people panicking alone.

The way I look at is, you never know WHEN the end will be, whether it is your personal end, or the world's.  You should always be prepared, but not live your life in fear in the meantime.  Just enjoy the time you have now whilst you have it, and make sure emergency measures are in place to protect the ones you love (and the things you want to pass on to them) when/if you go.

Like putting on a seatbelt:  you don't put it on because you're planning on getting in a car wreck;  you put it on just IN CASE you do.  But for the most part, just enjoy the ride :)
Ahoy, Pirates, Hoist the Colours!
