And after using a straight hedge for years, I wanted to introduce a little sophistication with a green hedge topped with a black wrought iron style railing framed by brick posts which will have cascading geraniums on top  ;) :

Here are two ideas of "black wrought irons" plastic railing styles :

One piece measuring 4.20 cm x 15.30 cm costs 1.90 Euros

One piece measuring 9 cm x 16 cm costs 2.30 Euros

All about Scenery !

Good afternoon dear Friends

Ever since I worked on my first model railway on a HO scale when I was a kid, I have always had a passion for creating décors such as miniature mountains, fields, villages, waterfalls and so on.

Working on a scale which can match the size of our Klickies ( 7.5cm or 3 inches ) is the same approach only bigger of course.

The most important thing is to always keep in mind that any item you will consider for the your decor whether Inside or outside will have to not only match the size of a 7.5cm figure but most importantly blend well with the other accessories.

I cannot stress out enough that as far as Playmocompatibility goes, one may only consider the 1/12th scale which is the most common sclae for dollshouse items and means that one inch in miniature size equal to 12 inches in real life size. Never go for other scales such as the 1/24th which will be too small or the Playscale size or 1/6th which will be too big ( Barbie figures scale ). But considering the 1/12th scale is only the beginning as not all items of this scale wil be Playmocompatible.

A little tip when researching online for a certain item is to look for "miniatures on a 1/12th scale" and remember that "dollhouse" in the USA and beyond and "dollshouse" in the UK so look accordingly since EBay.co.uk will not come up with as many results if you put dollhouse in the keyword search instead of "dollshouse".

I will share with you in this topic a few tricks and ideas I have tried and tested over the years when it comes to creating an outside decor which will be Playmocompatible  ;) :

Fountains

Mural Fountain with a Lion

Costs approximately 2.00 Euros and measures 6cm high

Freestanding Fountain with a Lion ( my signature fountain present in all my previous dioramas )

Costs approximately 15.00 Euros and measures 12 cm high

Large Freestanding Fountain with a Lion ( like the one that will feature in the background of my exotic garden )

Cost approximately 20.00 Euros and measures 14 cm high

A Matter of Trees !

Those who have followed this thread since the beginning may remember that I customized Playmobil trees with model tuft and tiny paper flowers which turned out to be quite nice but a Mansion that big & tall, I really needed substantial trees measuring at least 25cm up to 35cm. Needless to say that I have hunted high and low for weeks and could not find anything but trees under 20cm high or the custom made trees by specialized miniaturist which can cost anything between 90 and 200 Euros ! Until I came accross this French website called Diorama.fr which specializes in miniature décors for all kind of model projects including architect projects and which features the only large trees available on the net at a reasonable price and other interesting items such as vine rows or lavender rows :

Birch Tree

Costs 18.00 Euros and measures 35 cm high

Oak Tree

Costs 23.30 Euros and measures 30 cm high

Beech Tree

Costs 18.80 Euros and measures 27 cm high

Italian Cypress

Costs 14.40 Euros for a pair which measures 18 cm high each

Smaller decorative trees which could possibly look good isolated on a lawn or in the foreground of a larger tree maybe :

Olive Tree

Costs 12.10 Euros and measures 15 cm high

Mimosa Tree

Costs 12.00 Euros and measures 14 cm high

Lavender Rows

Costs 15.00 Euros for 3 pièces which measure 4 cm high each

Vine Rows

Costs 29.20 for 3 pièces which measure 4 cm high each

A Matter of Hedges !

Hedge materials have evolved considerably since I first used them and are now made of a soft foam base coated with different option of "foliage" mix which can be permanently bendable to one's use.

Lush Green Hedge

Costs 11.50 Euro each and measures 4 cm high x 30 cm long

Spring Green Hedge ( my option for the hedge running in front of the Mansion onto Regent St )

Costs 11.50 Euro each and measures 4 cm high x 30 cm long

And finally one of my all time favorite product which works beautifully for creating a box like hedge effect around the lawn areas for a perfect manicured English garden effect and is perfectly flexible at leisure  ;) :

Small Box Hedge

Costs 1.25 Euros and measures 1 cm high x 30 cm long
