Great job Emma! All the perfect little details, you must have an incredible 'bits' bin! 

I some times think my whole collection has turned into a bits bin 
I did use to have six mansions, but they got dismantled as I kept rebuilding a bigger and bigger house, and last year every thing got stored away in parts while I built a new table for my shed. I've been dipping into my collection for walls etc thinking well I've used alot but I've still got a house or two left......then last week I went looking for walls to do a small shop to find out I've run out of parts
I've got two extra floors but no house  So this is why I'm looking for a new one that will not be touched for anything!!

Anyway back to my bits and bobs so here's my next Victorian figure - not so much customised but I was thinking of all the people you'd see on a normal street.

You coal men are GREAT Emma!
I really like the sacks of coal, and the dirty klickies add charecter.
How do you get them clean again? Does it just rinse off?

What did you use for the 'cobble stones' in that photo Emma?

Hi the cobbles are polystyrene painted with buttermilk wall paint. Richard might recognise them as they are my fathers "Blood Bowl" pitch - a wargames game.

Did you use a shiny paint or a spray for them??

The constable was spray painted with gloss enamel and the dirt on the other figures is matt enamel paint brushed on. I didn't want the dirty coming off hence the paint!

For those interested in learning more about London during the reign of Queen Victoria, I can highly recommend "Victorian London" by Antonia Fraser, a fantastic look at many facets of London during that era, that might suggest some new street life scenes such as a watercress seller, the fish market at Billingsgate, or the Great Exhibition at the Crystal Palace.   

Daniela had trouble finding this book, because it's by Liza Picard, not Antonia Fraser, who has written many other magnificent historical books.    Sorry for the mistake!
