Am I the only person who can't get the "Spanish method" to work? :(

No, I have tried several times.
I just cant seem to get the head to pop off using rubber bands/elstics

I was hoping to find a way to "crack" open the original females.
They are very difficult, and I usually destroy their tops, which makes it useless for me.

Well the rubber bands can't do the job by themselves - they are just a help to increase the pressure and make it easier to pull the head off using another tool. Gordon, have you tried using it in combination with your pincers? I think it makes it easier.

I agree with others that combination of parts works well together.

A nice looking figure. :)

Regardless what method you use - this nobleman looks good anyway. I tried the Spanish method with decent success before I got to know the "Hands-on" method. Good job.  :)

Wow! That is a very nice looking nobleman. Excellent use of color to maintain a theme - I love it!

BTW, did you ever tell us if the cape was painted, or if it is original PM?

The cape is original but it came out of a parts play package so I am not sure what set it is from.
Thanks for the kind comments, Hopefully I will get to working on something else again soon.
