Ludicrus: Sequor comitatus, this clivus saxosum leads to the Pacificus Oceanus.
Ludicrus: Follow me men, this rocky slope leads to the Pacific Ocean.

Tedius (mumbling): Easy for you to say Cent, you don't have to carry a scutum and pilum gravissimus.
Tedius (mumbling): Easy for you to say Cent(urion), you don't have to carry a shield and heavy spear.

Tortuous: Advenire adhuc?
Tortuous: Are we there yet?

Ludicrus: Watch your pedii! I've got pulvis in my crepidarii...
Ludicrus: Watch your feet! I've got sand in my sandals...

Ludicrus: Admodum ventosa, by Jupiter!
Ludicrus: It's very windy, by Jupiter!

Tedius: Dictitavi ista! Hey, ubi vadere qu?
Tedius: You can say that again! Hey, where did everyone go?

Tortuous: Hic castellum antiquiis comparare an umbraclum.
Tortuous: This ancient castle provides some shelter.

Tedius: Uh-oh, vicis falsus.
Tedius: Uh-oh, wrong turn.

Ludicrus: Denique, oceanus!
Ludicrus: At Last, the ocean!

Tortuous: Obscurissimus!
Tortuous: It's gone dark!

With apologies for my butchery of Latin!

Great story and photos, Martin, but (like Bill) footnotes would be helpful to get the most from the story.

OK Bill and Gordon, I relented and added the original English.

Now Gus can tell me that that wasn't what I wrote! My Latin studies stopped around age 16, and I got these words using an online translator, so the grammer is non-existant! There also appear to be several Latin words for the same thing (e.g. Sandals), so I just picked the ones I thought sounded best.

These three guys went with me everywhere in Oregon and California the last 3 weeks, so I'm keeping them apart from the mass of troops to retain their personalities. Most of the shots were taken on a beach near the Devil's Punch Bowl, but the whipping wind and the presence of a dead sealion limited my time there. The mountain shot was taken at the top of the "Trees of Mystery" Skytrain ride, and the last two were on the waterfront in Eureka.
