Odysseus Sets
« on: June 21, 2026, 07:01:04 »
Some new Ancient Greek sets coming, spotted them on Facebook;

https://www.facebook.com/Aesclick

72178 – Odysseus and the Sirens
72179 – The Adventures of Odysseus
72180 – Greek Gods Set 4

Nothing very new in terms of moulds, but the colours/sail on the boat are nice, and the 'Sirens' might be new? I wonder if the Argo boat is being discontinued?

The Greek Gods are just a re-package - hopefully they aren't retiring the individual ones.

The Scylla is just a re-colour of Hercules Hydra (even though technically it should have 6 heads...)

These are branded as 'Adventure' rather than 'History' - I'm sure this is part of Playmobil's on-going mission to make sets as difficult to find as possible on the web-site.

Love how they adopt a darker tone with the historical theme. I will try to remove the paint of the two female characters' eyes back to the classical klicky version though.

Thanks for sharing these. They look great!

I think that's a new colour for the leather helm as well. :)

I will try to remove the paint of the two female characters' eyes back to the classical klicky version though.

These look like the fully printed ones (not the ones with printing over the moulded eyes), so I think removing them would mean removing the eyes entirely. If you want to change them, it'd probably be better to replace the heads with other heads. ;)

Golden cow!  :D  I hope they are generally available this time from the start.  Boxes seem normal and not Greek market specific.

Lovely sets. That new Hydra is a must

A shame about the gods.. it's almost like they don't want to sell it.. oh.. wait!  ::)

Horrible choice to have some figures with the creepy non playmobil like eyes. It looks especially terrible together like this with the classics.

While the ship itself looks nice in colours, it's really pathetic that Odysseus has no crew. Just one dude on a ship way too big for him to sail on his own, and two.. harpies? Sirens? Not sure what they are meant to be. This is one of the worst cases of sets coming with not enough figures I have seen so far.
There used to be sets with eight figures. This one should at least have two more.

Is the ship really a fullsize ship? I have a bad feeling it's a system why truncated version...Hope I'm wrong!

In some stories, the sirens are more bird-like, similar to harpies. In this case, I believe these are meant to be sirens as Oliver noted.

It looks like the same ship design from the Roman sets (Set 4276, Set 5390, and Set 7512) and the Argo and the Argonauts set that Oliver mentioned (Set 70466).

I think technically they should be more 'bird like' (basically a bird with a human head) but they have gone for the easier option of a winged woman. But I think sirens as 'sexy mermaids' is a more modern imagining.
