At a small outpost located near the border between the kingdom of Falco and the land of the Vikings, life goes on as usual. The soldiers keep watch while the farmers tend to their crops. But, the soldiers are also prepared as they have heard rumors about Viking raids along the border.

The kingdom's jousting champion, Lord Hadrian, on the king's orders has been inspecting the frontier forts. This outpost is his last stop. He is accompanied by his brother Robin and his page, Althalos.

The Templar and Teutonic knights, Richard and Edward were set to join the Crusades but had decided to stay at the fort for a while longer. They welcomed Hadrian and Robin.

Suddenly, shouting war cries, a band of Vikings, armed to the teeth, burst out of hiding from a nearby forest. The villagers close to the outpost ran away, but the soldiers and knights in the fort stood firm.

One knight, Sir Ronald, was surrounded and knocked to the ground. He slashed and parried each blow but was cut down later as more Vikings arrived.

Lord Hadrian's page, Althalos could not reach the wall in time and was fatally wounded before he could climb into the fort.
Soon, the Vikings had the front wall of the outpost surrounded and ladders were brought forth.
