They are made of solid brass (Cu Zn). Sleepers are made from a high quality plastic, that serves many years outdoors.
LGB rails can be soldered, but you need an soldering iron from at least 100W.

Older LGB rails, ending with a "W" after the partnumber are made from white metal with a thin layer of brass, and are not intended to use outdoors.

Generally speaking brass is between 60% Cu — 40% Zn and 70% Cu — 30% Zn, sometimes added with 1,2% Tin or up to 4% Lead. In California no more than 0,25% Lead is allowed.

There are other special mixtures, but then you have to think about coins, guns and marine use. Not the type of brass we are speaking about.

@ Giorginetto, why do you want to know this?

If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

;D ;D ;D
But if you make your own tracks (if!!), I hope, you don't make them of brass.
I think, stainless steel would be better, you don't have to clean them so much.
