The stairs keep the door from being operable which is just as well, that first step would be a killer and I wouldn't want the Trolley's falling down the stairs.    You could put it on the other side of the house and avoid the stairs all together.

AH! Now I get it.  The roof it just open under there.  I thought maybe there was a floor/ceiling between the first floor and the roof area, but I guess not?

No, wait.  I see what you mean - falling down the stairs.  I was thinking of going to the new addition, not coming from it.  I looked at the pics again and I see there is a floor area.

You could put one of these on either side then.  A large balcony for the second floor and use the roof and make a small balcony for the third on the other side.
