Is there a way for the wall to be opened so you can get into the roofed in area?

The stairs keep the door from being operable which is just as well, that first step would be a killer and I wouldn't want the Trolley's falling down the stairs.  :o  You could put it on the other side of the house and avoid the stairs all together.

AH! Now I get it.  The roof it just open under there.  I thought maybe there was a floor/ceiling between the first floor and the roof area, but I guess not?

No, wait.  I see what you mean - falling down the stairs.  I was thinking of going to the new addition, not coming from it.  I looked at the pics again and I see there is a floor area.

You could put one of these on either side then.  A large balcony for the second floor and use the roof and make a small balcony for the third on the other side.
