Title: Is the small victorian house (5305?) generally the same as 5300 re. directions?
Post by: Theresse on December 01, 2011, 00:06:27
Just got the house used today with no directions and downloaded the 5300 directions off playmobil.  Should this work just fine only we leave out the second floor and jump straight to the attic?

Regardless, does anyone have any suggestions/things to look out for when putting together one of these houses?

Thanks!

I don't know - I don't have either the 5300 5305. Taking a quick glance at the picture, though, both houses look quite similar. So, to make a long story short, yes, I think it is possible to jump to the attic.

5305 first floor is technically 5300 second floor ,you build it the same way ,  you have to make sure you have the parts to connect the ground floor parts so it won't be moving ,the wall fillers ,  and the curtains (which would be on as you say it's used  )  :)

I think the 5305 is a little gem.   Congrats on your buy, Theresse!

Yes and thank you everyone for your help!  We downloaded the main mansion's directions and figured it out from there.  Actually a 9 and 10 year-old did it in about 10 minutes.  Only issues were that one front window is broken in a place that doesn't allow it to snap on which means now flower box there either (though we have it), and the attic wallpaper's a bit wrinkly which is no big deal, and one of the little decorative gold finial pieces that goes in the whole above one of the dormer windows can't go in cause something broke off in the past and is shoved in there (easy enough fix - just get another dormer roof).  I left them to it and came back later to find a bunch of little plastic parts (wall clips and floor something-r-others?) that they didn't use so I don't know what that means but I have them saved in case the house falls apart or something like that!  The house also came with the victorian lady in the pink dress and an invisible man with just his brown hat.  Also 5 extra white attic dormer window trim pieces for some reason (?).

My 3 boys are having waaaay too much fun with it - heheh.  At one point I accidentally said "dollhouse" and my eldest firmly corrected me saying "NO it's NOT - it's a playmobil house."  Oh - oops!!!  Of course he was right!  ;)  The only thing is it is indeed a bit small.  I've started looking at the extension floors which of course aren't cheap.  Waaaa.  We have a pathetic hodgepodge of playmobil furniture from the take-along (?) house, some medieval accessories (e.g. a royal tent's rug and a battle tower's table and benches, etc.) along with some Calico Critters furniture that's about the right size if not a hair too big (e.g. piano, fireplace, TV, bunk beds) - and of course a playmobil lit xmas tree and presents and some related furniture and stuff from one of those new xmas sets as well.  But who cares that it doesn't all "go," right?  Ok the collector in me cares but they don't care which is all that matters!

One of my boys decided to take the take-along doll house (if that's what it's called) that had come apart anyway, and he added the two main parts like walls out the back of the house (on left and right sides) so he could add more furniture...and this happened to give the appearance of the house having been remodeled in the back - like they added a large family room with more rooms above, sort of!  Then he used the bunny tree house's base as a back yard. :)

one of the little decorative gold finial pieces that goes in the whole above one of the dormer windows can't go in cause something broke off in the past and is shoved in

That is a common problem, Theresse, if you unbend a paper clip you have the perfect tool to pop out the broken piece from underneath the hole in the dormer roof.
If this is the part of the window that is broken, I can give you an extra one that I have to replace it.

Thank you Joe!  That is indeed the piece I need.  So kind of you to offer!

Shoot - not sure I ever took pics as I intended to!  One of my boys took it all apart then last night I put it all together again cause I thought it would be nice to try to decorate it for xmas if I could find some battery-operated small xmas lights (any suggestions on how to get the lights to hang on the house??!).  Also cause I bought a PM snowman and a couple of other xmas accessories we didn't have before.  Thought I'd scatter some fake snow on the roof as well - and thought they could find their house like this xmas morning next to the LGB G-scale train set (fits playmobil klickies) that goes around the tree. :)  If I get my act together, I'll take a pic of that anyway!

Theresse!
Wow! This sounds great with your sons building it and playing with it, too. It is so much fun when the whole family does it together. We have built several large sets that way, and it has been a blast.
The extension out the back is a great idea because it seems that PM houses never have enough room for the all the furniture you want to add. Luckily they have extension floors, balconies, roofs, and garages to add more stuff.
Glad you are enjoying your PM, Pgal :xholly: :xholly: :xholly:
