Title: Playmobil as an aid to interest kids in history
Post by: Jim_K on November 17, 2011, 19:57:52
Hi from a  new member!

My kids have grown out of Playmobil but had endless hours of pleasure from knights, pirates, cowboys and indians in the late 90's and early 00's.

I love certain periods in history and passed some of that interest on to my kids through Playmobil.

I think your terminology is "custom" characters - I created many of these from figures in the knights range.

I'll try and post some images soon!

Thanks for such a fast welcome folks!

To get me up to speed, please could you tell me how to upload photos off my PC?  I have reduced some to the acceptable size and gone into the "additional options" and "attach", but I don't see how to actually insert the image I have attached!  On another forum I use there is an "insert image" button to click once the file is attached. ???

I must be being thick!

Right above the smileys is a row of buttons, the one on the far left is the insert image button. But the pics must be no more than 100kb, and no more than three per post.

It's much easier, I find, to sign up for a free account on http://photobucket.com/ and host the pics there. You can then copy the image code and paste it in your post to imbed the pictures.

Thanks for the guidance bonniebeth - very kind of you.

I've tried the icon first. Having attached an image I clicked on the picture icon but all that appears is " (http://)" not the photo itself.  What am I doing wrong?  Do you click on the picture icon before or after you've "browsed" and "attached"?

Obviously I can try "Photobucket" but I thought I just quickly post a few piccies to get things going!

Ha! My image of Richard the Lionheart IS there after all!  I'll try another - this time some Hospitaller knights from the crusades!

OK, so I think I've got the hang of it!

Here's a few more:

William the Marshall

King William The Lion of Scotland

Philip of France

All characters contemporaneous with Richard l of England.
