Hello :)
I finally got the wings I needed to finish my Avian Knight. My generous dad bought a desert landscape add-on with a vulture so I didn't have to wait anymore.
Putting wings on people sure is tricky. I decided not to chop up the wings so much like I did on an earlier attemp. His sword is my favorite Playmo medevil sword, but to fit in his belt, the blade needed trimming. I used regular hobby paint for the chest armor, blade/pommel on the sword, and the blade section on the axe.
The tape on the bottom of his feet is there because it was so windy outside I had to stick him down to keep him from blowing down.
When the wind dies down I'm gonna take an avatar worthy picture of him--mabye photoshop the back ground a bit too.

:)
great customization, thanks.
this avian knight is related to one of these references - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avians?
???

cachalote,
Fantasy type stuff wasn't really an influence. The most inspirational reference would be the angelic warrior sort of character. I decided to call him a "bird-man" just to be sure I wasn't breaking any message board rules. Also, "Avian" is just a cool sounding word ;D

Wow, a beautiful knight. If he becomes your avatar, this might become a heavy challenge to create for my PF avatar collection :-\

GREAT CUSTOM !!!
Nicely done, Jimmy ... :wow:
All the best,
Richard

Excellent work. Look forward to seeing your avatar.

Thanks everyone.
The avatar is made! Thanks Sylvia! It did lose some detail but I am very happy with it. I was going to put a cloudy sky behind him, but it's just as well I didn't. It would have been too much.

Have you ever seen the film Flash Gordon , the one with the great Queen soundtrack, this figure reminds me of Brian Blessed king of the bird men.
Great work again. :)

Wonderful figure and great avatar photo 8-)

Oh yes, great soundtrack ... hm, and also a good theme to customize: the Flash Gordon motion picture staff ...
BTW, Freddy Mercury would have celebrated his 60th birthday yesterday.

Sir Gareth,
Yes I remember Flash Gordon. It wouldn't be to hard to make one of those guys. They would be be kind of a winged viking.
Someone could even super customize a klicky by putting birds feet on it and create a more man-beast person. It's to bad the wings are hard to get.

Curently available in Germany, and in export markets next year, they have the vulture add-on back again. So the wings will be much more available for a few years.

Knightmo - That is a VERY cool custom! Indeed he looks every bit the angelic warrior leading Heaven's hosts into battle! Keep up the wonderful work.

Hello Jimmy :)
Your custom's are really amazing !! I am very impressed with the attention to detail and the high standard of workmanship. I can sympathise with the problem of klickies blowing over in the wind, as it is one of my biggest problem's. Its even worse when there are a lot of them and you don't realise one has fallen over until you have taken the pictures  ;D.
Kindest Regards Tim :)9

Hello Jimmy,
just analysing your avatar for copying it (to line up in my avatar collection (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/album/thumbnails.php?album=30), if you kindly allow to do so), and I'm wondering where the armor is from. I also couldn't associate the short wings on the helmet to any existing piece. And finally my third question, what color shade did you used for the blades/armor, is it silver, aluminium, or metal?
It would be helpful if you (or anybody else, wo can recognize this) can give me some hints.
Regards
Jochen

Jochen I am pretty sure that the helmet wings are cut from a white flying dove. The chest armour is like the ones in 3666 but a different color, perhaps painted?
-
This was a very nice knight :D Great combination of colours!
-
Hi,
Of course you may copy him!
Thanks!
Tim is right on all counts. The chest armor was originally the dark grey. I also trimmed it to fit around the belt buckle as the Roman armor now is. Some parts are metallic silver hobby paint: Chest armor, Blade section of axe, and all of the sword except the grip.
White hair. Virtuous. Vigilant. Generally a good soul all around :)

Ok, thank you for the support. So I'll see what I can get and what I can make.
