Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this post, since it is my first one on such topic.
I've be starting building my knights (and medieval in general) collection -- I 've all related to the Knights' Empire (3268), Rock Castle (3269 - Dragon knights), Barbarian (4435) and Dragonland sets.
I have been looking for some medieval house to expand this world and already got from Playmobil Hellas the Medieval House with Barn (7145) and Yellow Framework House (7379) along with some older ones from e-bay like Tailors House (3440).
Now I'm looking for the Red Framework House (7785) and Blue timbered house (7847). I also saw that Playmobil DE has re-introduced Medieval Bakery (6219) which is prety much the same as 3441 (?). I believe they also had 7847 available some time ago (?)
So, the questions (!): does anybody knows if the above 7785 and 7847 are going to be released again or how can they be ordered, and if 6219 is going to be available in other countries (like Greece)?
Thank you
-
All steck houses releases through DS were a request from collectors. The re-issued bakery success was a last year request of the pilot group that paved the way to a still developing official Collectors Club. The red, blue, and yellow houses were a result of a much older attempt from sellers to ask for the re-issue of classic medieval sets. If playmobil is willing to re-issue more steck houses is unknown at this point, but I suppose, when the PCC launches, there will be ways to pursuade playmobil to re-produce more such houses.
The blue and red houses can be found in ebay, but saddly for really high prices. 6219 will probably be available from January 2012 onwards in Greece, but rumor has it, as some other threads here state, that its already sold out...
-
I see ...
Thank you for the reply. I have seen the blue and red house in Ebay but the price is very high, almost 100Eu each (incl shipment).
Regards

Blue steck houses are the most expensive of of the DS series . For some reason many come on ebay from time to time from ...Australia i have noticed. The yellow and red are available on ebay , the white one is scarce sealed but easy to make with parts . Green is also not that hard to make form parts . Complete 3440,3441, 3442 ,3443, 3444, 3445 ,3446, 3447, 3448 , 3449, 3450, 3666, 3667, 3888 always command a very high price especially if they have their klickies in the them
Sir Wolf has made a good point, we dont know if the bakery makes it to greece as they seem to have already sold out, i hope playmobil brings out anotehr batch , i have never heard of a compnay selling a product , being sold out and not produce more but playbobil is a bit full of surprises some good some bad !!!!
My advice is to decide if you want a collector's approach where you want at least one of each , complete or just steck houses to build a village or city . For the former i think patience and cost are a must , for the second ebay hunting for the right parts and for a relatively small cost you can build many steck houses , my advice also decide if you want red roofs only or ok with the dark blue ones also ( red, blue, yellow houses ) and if yuo want closed roofs or with the opening . personally i didnt use any opened roof parts in my city and i am still to replace the blue with red , a cost of almost 300 euros for all 14 blue roof steck houses i have and at the moment i prefer to buy klikcies for that money but reckon a red roof only city is much better
Glad to see another one with the steck fever !!!
i want to buy a couple of steck houses now !!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well, given the comments, I gave up and bought 6219 in Ebay yesterday (54.99 !!!!). At least I bought some other stuff with it like Western Windrad 6214, 7927 Magierwerkstatt etc, so that shipping cost is distributed among them.

Ah, yes.. I'm VERY familiar with the "buy more to save on shipping" theory ;D
What I'd really like to find is the red house... not for a fortune, I mean.. :(

Is is true that there were some red houses sold in germany that were of a much ligher shade of red when compared to the ones I have for example in my steck city, from pictures i have seen in some dioramas i dont remember where the red shade was much much lighter , different color all together, looked like Ferrari Rosso Corsa infact !!!

Just for the history; today got somewhat aggressive in E-bay and bought 7785, 7847 and 7109 (all used but claimed to be complete) from the same seller. I'm anxious to get them..
-
Good buys !! were they pictures to show how complete they really are ???? always check for that ... :)
-
definatly, I hate it when they show the box or a catalog picture instead of the real thing unless its still sealed.
-
They are in the post office... Will get them on Monday and update...

Congrats! You will be very happy with these structures!!!
You could get a few of the 7145 barn/house and use those parts to make your own houses - combinations of half-timbered parts and stone walls like the originals. You can also take the coloured pieces out and paint them, too, to make your own painted half-timbered houses. White ones would probably be the best for this.

Just dont paint any steck house in pink !!!

Ok,
here are some pictures as promised

And a small X-mas contribution...

And some comments... 7785 and 7847 are in good condition but in 7109 one of the "arch" windows is in bad shape... I wonder where Giorginetto get all his windows for the castle (?)

I believe DS should have these. If I remember correctly Skypurr got a bunch in the early autumn as part of her order for the display she helps organize.
A quick search found:

Thanks both of you.. Will try and see what I can get ;D

I'm soooooooooooo jealous of the red house..
-
Prices just keep rising. The lockdown is making me crazy so I got myself a sealed 7847 Blue House, which arrived today. Most expensive single item of Playmobil that I have ever bought, but the act is giving me tremendous joy. It's a darn fine looking piece of real estate. Perhaps I will even master the nerves one day and open the bag to actually play with it. 8}
-
The blue house is the one of them I didn't get and of course I really want a couple of them now. They are far too high on eBay though.
-
I splashed out so much money in the assumption that Geobra is never going to reissue the blue house. I might be mistaken, which would be frustrating, but actually great in the bigger picture. Not sure what to wish for now.
-
I think it's a great house, I don't have that blue one either. Congratulations StJohn!

Why the confusion? 159 € incl. shipping isn't excessive. And it sold already, within one day. I told you, these blue houses are hot! :yup:

I repeat, 8}

well, i buy sometime single figures for 20-30 quid.. tahts normal and ok..

It is pretty, but the housing market these days . . . 8}
-
The thing with any of the medieval houses is that they could easily reissue them at any point - probably when they've got rid of all the red ones
But in the grand scheme of collectables it's not a huge sum I guess.
-
Them blue steck houses are my favorites. With 60 stecks houses of all sorts and types they are by far my all time favorites playmos
I just hope and pray that nuremberg guards with shiny armor are brought back one day...
-
I’m not sure how to quote someone with that blue outline, but Mike I saw you mention sometimes paying 20-30 quid for a single model and I thank you for that information as a reference. Since rejoining the hobby and beginning my collection I have been completely unsure what is appropriate to spend on certain items and do not want to overpay. There are times when I really want to purchase a particular item, but have no idea if it is silly to pay past the amounts I have in my head. eBay is one of my few options (especially for older things I’d like to buy) for playmobil because the US website rarely has much in stock. Now I have a bit more of a wide range in mind, appreciate it : )
-
You can only really spend what you think is appropriate, but that's the same really with any collectable. You can search eBay for completed auctions though, which would give you an idea of a fair price range.
The only thing I would guard against is thinking of it as an 'investment', simply because a) Playmobil is pretty niche and b) they will (fairly randomly) re-issue sets
-
Ahh thank you for the insights, very much appreciated as I did not know you could view such a history on eBay. I would only view playmobil as an investment into my imagination; I’m never giving up my inner child : ) ...I get a good laugh when playmobil asks me to complete a survey for the child I’m making my purchases for. The options are basically younger than 12 or over 12 (there’s a third option but it is somewhere around 6 or something) Apparently being in your 30s is completely off of their radar...

That always makes me smile! Playmobil do not really understand the importance of adult collectors, although there was an all-too-brief Playmobil Collectors Club which they axed, to the anger and confusion of collectors. Lego has embraced the adult collector market, even marketing sets as for age 18+ (because of 'difficulty,' not because of 'adult' themes!), but Playmobil hasn't really understood the potential. Judging by membership of forums like this one, there are many PM collectors in Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and increasingly the UK, US and Canada. And Portugal has at least two!
If you enter a search on eBay, then scroll down on the left hand side you can select 'sold items' and this will show you what people paid, though not accepted 'best offers'.
What you pay will depend on how obsessed you are, like Oliver said. But there are many sellers asking unrealistic prices. If it's a recent set, it's worth searching online retailers to see if there is a better deal.
If it's a spare part, it's worth checking if it's available from DS for a lower price. Some sellers seem to buy spare parts and resell for inflated prices on eBay, though Playmobil do not allow this. Check on playmobil.co.uk (scroll to the bottom of the home page and click on 'find spare parts') to see what is currently available and prices. As US DS is notoriously poor, you could ask a Playmofriend (;D) to make an order in the UK and send over to you!
If you don't mind paying the shipping charges or shopping in German, eBay.de has probably the best range of Playmobil, though many sellers there don't ship internationally or use PayPal.

So far I’ve found some very friendly playmobil stores on eBay...the interface of eBay isn’t exactly user friendly, however, and piecing together big orders usually means I cannot use the “request a total” feature- the stores generally send feedback sharing that they are aware and will refund excess shipping and handling, but rarely is the refund generous. There are two major European eBay stores for playmobil that I’ve made large orders from this week and the end result (after refund) was nearly 100 dollars in shipping and handling...certainly a form of highway robbery, but I needed their products so it had to be done. Most people are rather kind, but sometimes there are those who choose another path. If I see a playmobil lot on eBay for a long time at a huge price- I tend to present an offer just as an idea in case they wanted to get it off their hands. Despite the offer being worth way more than the items, usually those situations end with the seller sending unkind words about “the price being the price” : / which I understand, but I just don’t think it hurts to entertain the idea?.. anyway, thanks for the tips, any and all advice is most appreciated!
-
It's also always worth asking here about specific things you need. Some of us may have a part or even a set extra laying around we are happy to pass on. You can always ask about prices here as well. We can give you an idea what's reasonable in the market. Some things tend to be really high like trains or Victorian theme, but you can still find ok deals from time to time if you are diligent. The community here can be a great resource.
-
Thanks and you bring up an interesting point. Is there a section here where I would be able to ask about excess parts, which I would be willing to pay for? Also, the reverse of that equation, there are times where I buy a lot on eBay with primarily medieval playmobil but a couple random items mixed in, so I may eventually build up random things I have no use for and might like to sell them. I can, of course, use eBay for that. Although, I could post it here as well to keep it within the community if people have a need for prices far less than they might find on eBay. If not, I can just post a large auction on eBay (with an offer option) and let the community know. If I were to do this I’d just lower the minimum I’m willing to take and only accept the offer if it’s from a member of the community; also as long as such a mission isn’t somehow against any rules/regulations?). I’m not sure if this is possible considering most times I make an offer on eBay it seems the acceptance price is rarely much lower than the listed price. Hopefully this ramble makes any sort of sense.

:omg:
I'm sure some ebay sellers make as much from 'shipping' as they can, instead of charging realistic prices for the goods. There is one shop which charges a large amount for shipping whatever the item, which is usually out of all proportion to the actual cost. I never buy from there, which is a shame because it has some great stuff!
The other thing you could do PG is post a 'want list' on here and see if anyone has the things you want. You ever know!

Sometimes in cases like this when you look further into it, the high postage charge covers you for up to, say, 2kg weight, thus encouraging you to buy more.

There is a buy/sell/trade forum here but I don't think it is visible for use until you reach a minimum number of posts to the general forums.
-
Ahh I was wondering if there was a buy/sell/trade portion to the site, and having a minimum number of posts makes sense. It will be nice to reach that point, I think I will wait to sell the playmobil I have no need for so that I can find good homes for it with members of this site.
-
Do you know how many posts it takes?

On this forum, you need to be a member for six months before gaining access to the buy/sell/trade boards. Other forums such as Klickywelt have access to such boards based on a minimum number of posts.

out of curiosity and within this post, what is the rarest/ most expensive steck house these days ? I always thought the original museum with the amazing , amazing, amazing ultra cool shiny armour and face klicky but it has been re-released ( not with the shiny klicky though) so probably not the rarest now.... ??? ???
-
I think the museum with the chrome knight in good condition would still be top. After that the blue house, then maybe the cream one? Even though the blue house is newer it is less available since the others were available longer. The guard tower with the bell and rocker mechanism would also be high on the list, though the balcony piece dropped in relative value after it being rereleased.
-
Surely the Bakery 3441/6219 must be pretty desirable? It was an early re-release, and I'm not sure how long it was available, but isn't it the only one with the lift-up hatch? I'd love a couple extra of those.

The Balcony piece.... what a great steck part this was in the late 70s/early 80s... Loved it back then and still love it today. nothing ever comes close to the original steck sets , nothing at all if you ask me !!!! :wow:
