As the new cannons are the ones with arrows - which I don't like too much - and also the 5135 big pirates' ship (new 3940-version) comes with those, and I'm gonna use the 5135s for an English fleet (3940s for a French fleet), I needed old-type cannonbarrels that still shoot the small balls. The ones with golden barrels are still available as add-on-sets in Belgium, but black(antracite) or metal-coloured ones fit better with the 5135-ship colours imo...
So I decided to try to order at DS the metal-coloured gunbarrels that came with the blueblack and the redbrown schooner-ships (3029,3860, 3174) several years ago... Only question: would they still be available, and in quantity to equip several ships? :eh?:
Here is the result, the parcel was deliverd about half an hour ago!! :woohoo: :yippee:

WOW!!! congratsulations Erwin!! This is an impressive order!!!!
-
Nice! :)9

Do I count 73 guns? :o
Wouldn't it be great if those were all for one ship... ;D
Congratulations Hadoque.

Indeed WoT, the perfect number for French ship-of-the-line would be 74 cannons.
Nice haul Erwin.

don't shoot your eye out, because we in the US seem to on a regular basis (no springs allowed)

Yeah, apparently US kids are not as smart as the rest of the world. ::) It's like those warning labels that say "this product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer." :lol: If that's the case, why doesn't california tell the rest of the world? :P Regulations are so weird sometimes. 8}

What about the carriages for them?
-
Nice !! shame really i couldnt get any western gunbarrels when i tried , i find it ridiculus that all the western cannon parts are still available except the cannon barrel !!!!
Love the pirate cannons, i bought 18 of them from playmobil greece not that long ago !!!

I think it is more likely to choke on the barrel then shoot your eye out with one of those... ::)
The springs aren't that great... at least not in the "Big Bertha" cannon.

Good old fashioned playmo canon. Very good.

They are! ;D

don't shoot your eye out
yeah, if that would happen I'd look like a real pirate!

Enough of those in the inventory already, it are just the stick-shooting barrels' I don't like, especially when looking at the gunmouth's front when they are sticking out a ship's gunport.
So I decided to replace those barrels on the carriages with the older shooting-system ones, which are also more shiny. Luckily the gunbarrels were still availabe and not expensive!

I guess too many Western-, US Civil War- or Napoleonic War-fans ordered them in large numbers before, so meanwhile they ran out of stock... I too tried to get a few some time ago (though in a much lesser quantity then the guns above), but indeed they weren't available anymore... :(

Arrrrrr, matey, :captain: :arrr:

They are! ;D
Just kidding... and dreaming, hehe ;D

I was quite stunned when reading that!

you're right, the silver ones match much better with the new hull colour. The gold ones would blend in too much against that beige hull.
and I don't know why I asked you where that gun came from, as I just realized it's the same gun aboard my red corsair ship (duh moment for me).
I realized something else; in a previous thread it was mentioned the rocket firing guns dont' fit below deck because of the added aiming sight; this can be remedied by turning the barrel upside down in its carriage.
So, praytell, did you order cannon balls to go with your guns?
and what will u do with the replaced rocket-firing guns now?
-
Glad you were successful, Erwin. It just goes to show you can't lose by asking.
-

No, I didn't. I don't use all the ones that came with all the pirates-sets I have, so I should have plenty enough. And when equipping f.e. a 5135-ship with 12 guns, I won't add a crate of cannonballs for each cannon anyway.
and what will u do with the replaced rocket-firing guns now?
Not sure yet...
Use as ballast? ;D On ships they sometimes stored cannonbarrels in the lowest part of the hull, for stability...

lol!
Thumbs up here!

Erwin,
are these the ones for the complete round balls or for the grooved balls?
Cheers,
