using the lay-out i suggested earlier i decided to "pubblish" this the first contribution.
i hope you can all add suggestions so that this idea can become better.
... or even saying that it is absurd and should never be presented to geobra.
IDEA:
Asking adult celebrities to appear in advertising campaign
SCENARIO:
Sir Roger Moore (who is an UNICEF ambassador) would appear on an add promoting the Secret Agents theme.
Johnny Depp would appear on an add promoting the Pirates theme.
In both cases they would state that playmobil toys is their first choice when they need a toy to offer their children or grandchildren.
WHAT GEOBRA NEEDS:
... To spend a lot of money.
How GEOBRA CAN BENEFIT:
Without having to pay direct royalties to the producers of "James Bond" or "Pirates of the Caribbean", a sub-liminar link to these 2 universes would never-the-less be guaranteed.
By showing a famous adult spending time playing with their children geobra could improve its "slow-toy" concept (instead of their last attempted "ready-made-fast-toy-like-fast-food") as an asset that would put them away from their rivals.
A Playmobil set could then me sold as something that could help you to spend some quality time with your children whan you take it off the box and help them in the assembling process.
HOW HIS CAN ME MIXED WITH OTHER IDEAS:
This could help Playmobil using the full potential of their (already designed and moulded) parts and its "buildable" cababilities.
EXAMPLES FROM OTHER COMPANIES:
Mecanno has recently re-launched their most "abstract" time-consuming earlier sets.
Lego's larger sets couls also be regarded as an example.
HOW THE COLLECTORS CAN HELP:
This is the first help - an idea.

Hi,
is it necessary to have Johnny Depp and Roger Moore itself or would a double be sufficient?

What they need to do is find stars who actually like PM and would do it for free... or cheap... That would fit in better with their advertising model ;)
But no, this is a GREAT idea because there are so many people out there who can't do anything unless a celeb is doing it... and for those who already like PM it would only lead to more sales and therefore more PM... its win-win ;D

It could be nice if such a commercial would start with the actor or actress playing with the clickies together with their kids, thus providing proffesional voice acting for a clickie that matches a previous role of theirs.
Don't know if Gerard Butler has children or maybe nephews, but he could be great for a little ancient greece playmobil collection if they ever release that.
He wouldnt even need to say his famous lines from 300, wouldnt be appropriate for children. But providing a little speech for a playmobil captain to a bunch of hoplites could work. (with the children in the commercial providing a chanting "Wahoo!"response for the hoplites.)
And after that the children could be seen playing with the new toys while Gerard Butler talks about why he thinks playmobil is good for children.
Few shots of him since kids watching the commercial wouldnt care about that, but mostly hearing him speak while the kids play.
This is just an example of course, maybe Gerard Butler cares not at all for playmobil or might be very expensive, or there might never be a greek theme for playmobil.

let them put lady gaga to advertertize the new products.
-
She might fit right in with the circus theme. :)

don't take me wrong but honestly i'm kind of skeptical about this idea...if Geobra wanted to hire celebrities to advertise their toys they would've done it since a long time ago - what toy company does that for instance?
let them put lady gaga to advertertize the new products.
that'd be very kid friendly right?
-
:) dear luís, i guess the problem is that we don't know what geobra wants.
;)this section main purpose - the way i see it - is to create suggestions that geobra can want.
??? i don't know if any other toy company has done this (maybe they all thought of it and decided against it).
i will try to know more.
;D meanwhile, some celebrities are already (kind of) involved with lego - http://freshpics.blogspot.com/2007/11/celebrities-from-lego.html.

Cachalote, are those officially released figures or customs?
Lego is well known for licesing too much - do we want Playmobil to become that? ???
-
Interesting idea. I doubt kids would be impressed by Sir Roger Moore - an old guy with dyed hair and botoxed face: they're too old to remember him as 007.
But they could get bona fide fans - I heard that whatsisname, the famous Spanish footballer is a massive PM fan - to do the adverts and endorese stuff. Children would be more impressed by somebody they actually know about.
-
Yeah, an actual celebrity fan would be cool. Or even just a celeb who buys it for their kid. Can you imagine if Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes said that they bought playmobil for Suri?

The player I was talking about - now I remember - is Andres Iniesta.

Maybe they should get Dan Castalaneta for the commercial. It doesnt matter if kids know him or not, he could voice a hundred clickies differently and proffesionaly.
Might be something to think about at least. If the actor or actress can provide interesting voices for the clickies seen in the commercial, that would appeal to children while knowing who it is would appeal to the parents.
Dan isnt that well known for his appearance though, just for his voices on the simpsons (homer and lots of other characters such as Krusty, grandpa, groundskeeper willie and mayor quimby. )
Mark Hamill however, is well known to adults and is also a proffesional voice actor. Considering his career is not that great anymore he might not ask as much since it could be great publicity that advertizes his vocal skills.
-
i think a company whose main audience are kids is always very cautious about who they pick to advertise their products or services - look at Disney or Nickelodeon for instance...the latter had Jamie L. Spears on a tv show called Zoe and then she turned out pregnant at age 17 :hmm:
i would give a second thought about using celebrities if i were a toy company - kids/teenage celebrities grow eventually, and they're human who makes mistakes too, but those mistakes become errors when they're on the spotlight and image-wise that's not good for any company...
-
True, thats why its better to ask adult celeberties for such a thing. Those that are known to be family people who stayed with their partner for quite some time.
