Hi there, it's nice to be a member of this community!

Got my first Klicky in 1974/ 1975, a shiny knight in a blister with helmet and sword and I still have it! Two years ago I bought in a sale 6 roman warriors, the Preatorian special and I was again captured by the figures and noticed what evolution Playmobil has gone through.

I started buying ancient warriors; Romans, Egyptians, the beautyful Arab and Mongol warriors and when I discovered eBay I started to collect also the retired ones. (Favourite: Sultanswache). Made little armies with Captains and Kings and then I got it: CHESS !!!!

I'm working now on chess- sets, with real figures as pawns.  A set contains 16 figures so you need two sets and a board for a game.
Sets which are almost ready now are: Romans, Gaules, Egyptians, Mongols and Crusaders. Still working on: Chinese, Japanese (Thank god for the new Samurai!), Indian (from India), African and a spooky one (with skeletons as pawns)

I go on holiday now, I'll be back half october and if anyone is interested, I'll post some pictures of the first sets. And I'll make a proper Avatar.

I love your chess idea and can't wait to see your pictures :-) I miss the classical Medieval set though?

hi, I forgot: Arab and Persian. Classic medieval knights are also on my list, also a magic/ fairy one but I can't do it all at the same time to prevent myself from bankruptcy.. ;) That's also why choose the time before fire arms. Sets of North vs South states, cowboys vs indians, pirates vs ghostpirates... would all be wonderfull if I win the jackpot somehow.

When I'm back I surely will ask you for feedback or ideas, my friends, because I need your expertise...


.....and I'm still waiting for Playmobil to bring a Spartan...

I think you may be the first person to come up with the idea of combining Playmobil and chess.
