Hi,
I´ve started to translate the german FAQs.
I will post them in a seperate thread.
Please do not post in the FAQ-thread to keep it readable.
As requested from zugpferdchen the FAQ also contains the german version.
I´ve added some information to make some things clearer or if newer informations have been available.
Due to the fact that I am not a native speaker nor I´ve studied English as foreign language, please feel free to send me a mail with your corrections.
Kind regards
schluss

I'll gladly look through the FAQS as they are posted, or you could email me them first.

Great work schluss and of course the auteurs of the FAQ :-)

Hi,
thanks for the offer.
It´s highly appreciated.
I will mail you the translation first , so that we have later on a proper english version of the text.
I know that often the connotation can make a big difference....
Regards
Rainer

A couple of points. The LGB track is brass, very robust and made for indoor and outdoor use. Playmobil even made an outdoor extension for the power supply - http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4358 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4358)
There are a number of reasons playmobil went to battery operated trains and plastic tracks. Foremost is saftey, having electrified rails, power supplies, and cords could cause problems. The other big problem was layouts, you can't loop the track back onto itself, see cataloge page below with the big red X. Also, LGB track was increasing in price and what does Playmobil do best? make plastic parts.

Knight Train's points make a lot of sense to my ears (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/luwerner/gif/clapping.gif).

Hi Knight train,
these points you have mentioned will be covered in part3 of the FAQ.
But it is very good to have this illustration.
Thanks for that.

Sorry, jumped the gun. You can see how excited I am for the train FAQ ;D ;D ;D

I heard in addition to that of a reason why Playmobil & LGB in the 90s no longer worked together:
There would be probably some differences between LGB and Playmobil.
One point is not right or not detailed enough:
turning loops can be made with LGB tracks (analogous), but you need some electric »tricks« to make it:
• turning loops modules
• »anything with diodes«
• ...
-
I've got parts 2 and 3 to look at and I'll start on them today.
-
The reason Playmobil went on to make the R.C. trains was the ECC regulations that state trains that pick up from the track are not recommended for children under eight years old.
If fact Playmobil made one set that had this on the side of the box in 1998.
If Playmobil fell out with LGB can some one tell me why they were still making moulds for LGB in 2002?

Which moulds did Playmobil make in 2002 (for LGB track, I think, not for the company LGB?!)?
