Title: Tudor Hall
Post by: Emma.J on August 17, 2011, 16:27:48
Hi you might remember I made a large Tudor Hall last year that I shared on the forum. I never got around to finishing it as I ended up having to dismantle it, just no room. I've recently had a chance to rebuild it but as usual I got carried away and made it just a wee bit bigger!
Oh and I wanted to paint it as well. I know that originaly the Tudor walls were not black and white but a lot of English ones have now been repainted that way. So here's mine.
I've just done the basic build and now I'm working on the furnishings etc.

 Thanks friends, your encouragement is always so welcome.

Yes Tierman, the walls inside are painted brown stickers, I tried painting by hand but it wasn't neat enough.

Hi Saskia, it started as a giant H shape but I wanted more room for the gallery and if you look at real Tudor buildings they all come forward the same amount and many of the halls have a stone front porch / archway at the main door. Closest in design would be Speke Hall which I think is in Shropshire, England.
It's a bit of lots of houses.  :-\

Hey Tahra, I haven't got a top view but I'll make sure to take one when I do some more photos.

Hey Tahra, I haven't got a top view but I'll make sure to take one when I do some more photos.

Thanks :) So it's like an H with an extra "line in the middle" ?

Yes it is Tahra, Or think of it as a giant E with the top and bottom lines extended backwards. These are the main rooms at the sides. I've done some work on the furniture so pictures next weekend I think of the finished thing - fingers crossed.

This is so impressive!!  :o   8}

It would make an excellent centre of town with a big square and maybe a fountain in the front.

Great job!!  8-)

Superb creation, Emma!  How did you deal with the roofs which must have needed customising?

Sublime building Emma!

It really looks like you got everything right...it is so hard with flooring I have found.

Can't wait to see the following shots furnished and populated ;-)

 Thanks friends, glad you like it though I've been told it has too much wood in the German style, for some peoples tastes. I admit I'm not familiar with German hoses so I'm not sure if that means too much wood altogether or that the wood beams are just in straight lines?
I know a lot of English Tudor building are all wood and many of them don't have fancy shapes so I shall have to do a bit of research about that. The good news is I'm just about to put the last few torches in it and then it's done. So while the weather is good all take some photos and post them soon.

Hi Amd, there was a making of post before for the original Hall somewhere on this thread which covers most of the work I've done on this building. I've just extended it a little.

Hello Playmofire, the roofs are the most difficult bit just trying to get the angle right to cut them up. MacGuyer has done some beautiful molded corners that I would have love to get hold of but I seam to remember he said he gave them to another member - oh well!!!

Hi Giorginetto, I might sell it at Christmas, I'm working on a town at the moment and this hall is my favourite building - even more so than Houghton Hall so I'd only part with it once I've got the plans for a better one sorted out for myself.

I've just finished a water mill and I fancy a prison tower next..

 Hi it's finished I'm going to start a new thread with the interiors so everyone will know it's done rather than update this one.
