I have been meaning to post this for a while but well Real Life has a tendency to get in the way of fun stuff.
We celebrated our Daughters 5th birthday party with an assignment driven treasure hunt. For each completed assignment they would get a clue and combining those clues would reveal the location of the treasure. There was a strong Playmo theme in the assignments although not all of them were linked to PM, still I will share all the assignments, so maybe other can benefit.
Of course we had some Playmo decorations
(http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a415/gorraxpb/Stuffs/Vparty/IMG_4266.jpg)
And a Playmo decorated cake:
For the first assignment they had to make the Playmo farm puzzle.
When completed
(http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a415/gorraxpb/Stuffs/Vparty/IMG_4269.jpg)
They were able to flip it and receive the first clue
(http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a415/gorraxpb/Stuffs/Vparty/IMG_4270.jpg)
They received an actual Playmo Fir Tree and a little piece of paper which stated “-N”. The Clues would be in the form of a rebus.
So the first clue results in DEN (Fir in Dutch) –N = DE (The)
The following assignment was Candy Memory. We placed 20 plastic cups upside down and hid a piece of candy under each. When you found two matching pieces you could keep them. Of course we made sure everyone got the same amount of candy (if you found two matches you were out)
The following assignment was Make Your Pizza. Not really an assignment per se, but it ensured they would only have stuff on their pizza they liked and it always tastes better when you make it yourself.

Then we went on to “Spot the Seven Differences”. I made a tiny Playmo Diorama and made sure there were seven differences. Can you spot them?

We follow that with Handicapped Munching, We used some of my gloves, a hat, a die and a bowl of popcorn. When you rolled a 6 you would get the hat and the glove and you could then proceed to start munching on the popcorn with the “slightly” oversized glove. Here is a picture of the Birthday Girl munching away.

The last assignment was Rescue The Princess. So there was this princess stuck in a maze
(http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a415/gorraxpb/Stuffs/Vparty/IMG_4264.jpg)
They each got a figure (the ones from the cake) and by rolling dice needed to go through the maze opening the treasure chests along the way (making the princess into a real princess again) and finally open the door at the other end.

After all that they had the following rebus:
DEN (Fir) –N = DE (The)
KAT (Cat) K=SCH (yes I made a mistake here) = SCHAT (Treasure)
BIG (Piglet) P=L +T = LIGT (Lies)
SPIN (Spider) –SP = IN (In)
HEK (Fence) H=D –K = DE (The)
KAST (Cupboard)
Of course what followed was a mad dash through the house opening all cupboards. They found their treasure, which had a Special for each of them. After that they ate their Pizzas and we returned them safely to their homes.
I hope you enjoyed this different kind of photostory.
(If the mods think it shouldn’t be here please place it in a different section)

oooh that looked so much fun!
All of the 'assignments' were genius! :wow: :wow: :wow:
My particular favourites being 'rescue the princess' and 'Spot the seven differences', of which I can still only find 4! :eh?:
Your handicapped munching should have been with Playmobil style hands!

That party will be remembered for years to come, Gis. What a great way of organising things without people realising that they were being organised.
There is a problem, though, next year you have to do something different and still more fun!

What a wonderful party, Gis! All the activities were so inventive. My favorite was the memory candy game. (I love candy. :-[ ) I agree with Gordon, you raised the bar pretty high and next year you will have a real challenge. ;D Thank you so much for sharing the party.

Treasure hunts make a wonderful party theme....mom did one for each of the six of us each year complete with verses at each step leading to the next location.....the prizes were very inexpensive trinkets, but everyone adored our parties.
Glad to see how you incorporated PM into the activities. May try one for Hubby next year!
Those were some very fortunate children at your daughter's party!!!
Congratulations! Pgal

Awesome work! Ideas for my daughter's 4th b-day coming up...

I enjoy making these kind of things as much as the kids enjoy doing them.
We've done a couple for my son already and did atleast 4 challenge/treasure hunts during our holiday. There is always a new thing to try out.

The four girls each got the same Special but the boy that was there got a different one. He's not much for Unicorns and Fairies.
Btw we put them all in the big white playmo treasure chest...unfortunately I don't have pics of that.

What a wonderful party! I wish someone would do that for me. :)

Yep, that's what I was thinking too
Looks like she had the greatest birthday ever :)
