Sir Bartholomew has his shield low coming into this run and Sir Arjay gets above it, while Sir Bart manages just a shield strike.

2 points for Sir Arjay and 1 Point Sir Bartholomew

Both knights have their shields well up for this run, resulting in single point shield hits for both.

That gives Sir Arjay Rupiks 3 points and the win for this match.

With a win in the first match it looks like Sir Arjay Rupiks will be going on to the playoffs and Sir Bartholomew of Salish has been shut out

Sir Bartholomew hasn’t done as well in this tourney as he did at Winterhaven. Do you think that has to do with being so close to home? Too many distractions?

Well it can certainly be a factor Vanidel

Jousting against Sir Elric

They both had wins the first round and losses the second.  The winner of this match will be the one going on to the playoff rounds.

Off to a good start both knights keep their shields well up and end up with single point hits.
Score 1-1

It looks like they rushed this run a bit and we have two misses
Score still tied at 1

A nicely done shield feint helps Sir Elric avoid being hit for any points, while he does a nice job hitting Sir Merriadoc’s shield square on

Score 2 for Sir Elric, 1 for Sir Merriadoc

Another steady run here results in shield hits for both. With Sir Merriadocs miss in the previous run, Sir Elric takes the advantager and wins with a score of 3 over 2.

Sir Elric will be moving on to the playoffs.

In a repeat of Match 2 in Group C we have the two knights rushing a bit and ending up with a miss for the second run

Rubeous tries the shield feint Sir Arjay had just used to such good effect. Sir Barry manages to just get a hit on the edge of Rubeous’ shield though, and we have one point for each

Still tied, now at 2-2

Wow, very close there. It looked like Rubeous was going to get a head strike off of Sir Barry, but Sir Barry manages to duck just far enough out that Rubeous misses. Meanwhile Sir Barry has taken advantage of Rubeous concentration on the head strike to get his lance above Rubeous’ shield for a strike against Rubeous’ shoulder.

That gives Sir Barry Barrington-Smythe 4 points to Rubeous Raven’s 2. Sir Barry wins the match.

That’s 3 wins in a row for Sir Barry, and he is moving on to the playoffs.

Both come out strong with Sir Jaknoi getting his shield down just in time to avoid getting hit, he manages to catch the edge of JustFred’s shield though and gains a point.

One point Sir Jaknoi

A good play by both of the knights results in shield hits for both.

2 points Sir Jaknoi, one point JustFred

In the last run of the morning Sir Jaknoi comes out aggressively and tries to get above JustFred’s shield. JustFred swings it up but not in time to avoid the head strike. JustFred manages a shield strike, but that’s not going to be enough.

Sir Jaknoi of Gacim wins the match and with two wins moves on to the playoffs.

In Group C today we had wins by Sir Elric and Sir Arjay Rupiks, both of them moving on to the playoffs
And in Group D we had wins by Sir Barry Barrington-Smythe and Sir Jaknoi of Gacim. Both of them are also moving on to the playoffs.

That’s all for this morning’s play. There will be a break now, but please join us this afternoon for the conclusion of the Group Rounds!

Funny how Sir Barry managed to change the visor on his helmet on the first course...
It seems Rubeus will enjoy the rest of the Joust from the crowd. Too bad! Save a pint and a chair for him, he's becoming a real Krull ale addict...
A.

Hmmmm.... a frolic in the flowers, sharing some Jungle Juice It's Fruit with Sven, and meditating on the perfect symmetry of a purple Playmobil posy doesn't seem to have helped JustFred win his match.
Ah well, win some lose some and we all share in the excitement.

Good luck to all the jousters who are advancing (but especially to Fleury... he has nice flowers, too!)

It's his Magical Morphing Helmet.  Someone should really do a photo story about how he came to get it some time.

That wouldn't be me.  That pointed golden visor is the only one I never could lay hands upon (US market only!). Maybe someday…
