Title: Storing instructions
Post by: naflibomyalp on July 22, 2011, 10:52:47
I hope this is the right place for this...

My dad has a complete collection of MG Enthusiast magazines, you can buy binders from the magazine to store them.  He has about 20 of the things but they keep the magazines in pristine condition and are a compact-ish way of storing them.

They look like this:

My idea was for Playmobil to create their own version (maybe blue like the boxes) for collectors to keep their instructions in sold through DS.  I know I would buy some.  However, to do this they would have to make their instructions standard sizes.  I try to keep mine in plastic wallets within a folder but it annoys me so much when instructions like those for the 5300 are an unusual size and do not fit also some are too wide and have to go in lengthways.   ::)

Anyway, this just occurred to me the other day and I thought I might as well put it here because you never know!   :)

Yes that is a excellent suggestion... I keep mine in two boxes... and its not easy to find what I am looking for quickly...

I have mine in two 13-compartment expandable files, organized by theme. ;D

The problem is that both the instructions and catalog booklets come in many sizes ???.

I have 2 boxes of file folders with sorted instructions in one and catalogs in the other. I also use them to store flat things like rugs/sails/flags, stickers, and assorted paper items.

I've got the instructions from my sets stored in a box file mostly, but some are with the sets where the set can be easily stored in its own box.  I also have them all scanned in and stored on a disk drive by theme.  This means that if I sell a set, I still have the instructions for it if I want to check on something on them or if someone needs a set.

I have something like what naflibomyalp posted (mine is blue with transparent files inside) plus a box for small catalogs and paper parts (extra sails, extra carpets etc)
 ;D

I think you've got your answer there, naflibomyalp.

Those who have a need to file their instructions have already come up with their own ways, so a dedicated Playmobil filing system wouldn't sell.

A couple of concertina files would work for me, if I could ever get organised to it. Just put everything in numerical order.

I'm with you.

That's where my instructions are, in their boxes.

Instructions for the current sets in the catalogue are now available to download from the Playmobil web site.

i just keep everything inside boxes (leaflets, instructions, plastic bags, plastic parts frames...).
and i keep the smaller set boxes inside the medium one and the medium ones inside the big ones.
this helps me to save storage space.
:!: if playmobil could develop this concept making boxes that could go inside others in pairs it would be wonderful.
like the din-A0,1,2,3,4... concept, all boxes could be with a 1.41 ratio so that a bigger one could hold 2 smaller ones inside and then each one of these another 2 smaller ones, etc., etc..
this  would be easy to do.
:) maybe i will just add this idea as a BRAINSTORM IDEA for the future list to come (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=8550.0).

These days there are SO FREAKIN many sizes of playmoboxes - and some quite ridiculous shaped, BTW - and all oversized, it makes it harder and harder to store them.

It's so wasteful :(

I store all my sets that I can in their original boxes, and this is SOOOO annoying 8} 8} 8}

Not like the 80's sets that barely fit back into their original boxes
