Finally joined up after lurking for a year! ;D
Last summer I began to look for a knight's castle for my 3 year old, and somehow (through surfing the internet) found Martin's email address. I wrote him for advice regarding the "best" castle to purchase, and he kindly responded. He also recommended this forum.
I didn't grow up with Playmobil. I was born in 1965, and I don't recall it in the toy stores during my formative years. GI Joe was more to my liking. (The 12-inch tall version)
After having children I've become convinced that Playmobil is a great toy. My three kids love it. I more or less stumbled upon it about six years ago when I was looking for a princess castle for my two girls. The local toy store had a 3019 Dream Castle they'd never sold, so I purchased it. The clerk warned me that it would take "a couple of hours" to put it together. It took me five hours on Christmas day, with my little kids interrupting me every few mintues with "is it ready yet?" questions.... 8}
Ever since then we've been hooked.

Hi Kenny,
When I was little I got a victorian mansion for Christmas and my mum being the smart woman she is built it in advance and hid it in our nieghbours house then went and carried it back under a sheet late on Christmas eve! She said she never wanted to build it again and it has never been dismantled. :lol:
I hope you have a great time on the forum,

Welcome from Oregon!
I went through a 12" phase a few years ago too, I'm about the same age as you are and had the same influences no doubt. Playmo has pretty much taken over the last few years though and Joe has gone back to the attic poor guy.
