Hello All :)
Here are a few pictures from a recent car accident that my fire service attended. As allways the official brigade photographer was on hand to capture the rescue. This accident has been caused by a refuse truck pulling out from a T junction. The truck hit the car on the passenger side and rolled it over. Luckily the driver survived his injuries and made a full recovery :).
The first picture shows the scene from a grass bank at the side of the road. The fire service have allready removed the roof and are now concentrating on freeing the casualty.
The second picture is a view from the ladder of a fire engine showing the incident from another angle.
The Officer In Charge is shown in the 3rd picture wearing his orange jacket and standing next to the OIC from the Rescue Tender.
This 4th picture has been taken from a building across the road.

New supports being used to keep the car stable while it is on its side.

The car's roll bar being removed with the help of a vibrating saw.

I immediately catched the stabilizers in the first photo. Great idea. What are they made from?

First of all thank you both very much indeed for the kind feedback.
To answer your question Little Jo i have made a new post showing some of the latest tools that have been made for my fire service in the customizing forum. The new vehicle supports were made from old roll bars off a jeep and stabiliser feet from the new ladder truck.

It is obvious that the refuse truck driver is at fault !!! ... P)
It appears that he failed to come to a complete stop at the stop sign ... :(
There are no skid marks for either vehicle which suggests that neither vehicle was travelling at an excessive rate of speed. It also suggests that the truck may have never stopped and just continued on into the through lane of traffic.
The refuse truck driver should be given a breathalyzer and drug screen, as it appears that he may have been impaired.

Your analysis was spot on in relation to the cause of the accident :)9. The refuse truck did indeed pull out at the junction without stopping but luckily was only traveling at approx 10 mph at the time. The operative who was a passenger in the refuse truck states and i quote "he didn't even look, I tried to warn him but it was to late". The driver was arrested at the scene of the accident after alcohol could be smelled on his breath 8}. He was later charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and is awaiting his sentence.

Terrific series of photos, Tim! I especially like the way you have shown so many different angles of the scene. :)
The one titled "IncidentCommander" is my favourite because the depth of field makes the whole scene feel very real, which can sometimes be quite difficult to achieve with klickies. ;)

Its funny you should mention it but the Incident Commander pic was my favorite as well but i couldn't work out why until you mentioned it. I think like you say yourself its the depth of the picture, the way you can see into the distance.

The new railway worker's uniform has been on trial with my ambulance service for a few weeks now and i must say they were impressed with the durability and quality of its high visibility properties. Needless to say as soon as i find a few more railway workers in the shop's they will be snapped up quickly.
