the frame and chassis for the new Squad 3 are almost complete...

Hi FireChief.
Nice work..Is the rear box assembly made of plastic?
Can't wait to see the finished project.
All the best,
Jimbo

Hey Jimbo,
The rear of the truck is made out of a plastic called Styrene. It's used to make model train cars and stuff. They sell it at a train store near me, and its really cheap and easy to use.
Thanks
Ben

That looks great, FC. Can't wait to see more.
I sometimes use styrene (we can get a US brand Evergreen over here), but prefer ABS if possible.
-
Hey Gordon,
The Styrene from evergreen is the stuff I m using, but what is ABS?
-
It's a grey plastic which is easy to work and takes paint well. If I remember right, it's what Playmobil is made of.
If you PM me your address, I'll send you some more info and samples.

Hello Ben
:wow: Your custom Heavy Rescue is looking great and i can't wait to see the finished vehicle. I really do like the paint scheme and the way you have created the back out of styrene sheet. I can understand from first hand experience how difficult it can be to get all the measurements right and think you have done an excellent job.
Kindest Regards Tim

Awesome job Ben! Can't wait to see it completed.
BTW, if you buy your Evergreen at a railroad shop, I am sure they sell Plastruct products as well - the grey structural forms are ABS.
