Title: My New Castle
Post by: twconstantine on May 25, 2011, 14:58:19
After much disapointment I finally got my 3666 and 3667 castle.  It is SOOO much nicer than I thought it would be.  I am actually quite glad that I didn't end up getting the empire castle, because I spend the same amount for this.  It comes with everything except the lady in the pink dress, the pesant one, and the chains for the draw bridge.  It also has a weird "Prison" walls and door that I can't find on any instructions.  I'm not sure where it's supposed to go, so I just stuck it to the side of the castle.  What a great set!!  It's giant and filed with details that my girls are going to love finding.  Trap doors, a treasury, ladders and stairs.  This is so amazing.  I had a blast just putting it all together.  Here are some pictures:

Here are some other pictures of my collection.  I took more, but they didn't turn out very well.

Congratulation on purchasing the best playmobil castle ever!!!!

The dungeon is from 3859 - Pirate's Prison Tower (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3859) and there are quite a few variations of that set!

Congrats!

The 'prison bars' wall section is from the pirate prisons:

http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-09-5270 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-09-5270)

It's a neat addition and I think it would be great in a castle!  Now you've got the Steck bug, you will keep getting as much Steck as possible.

Well done . The 3666 is THE BEST PLAYMOBIL SET OF ALL TIME  in my opinion and its an opinion of someone whose been buying playmos since 1978, the combo with 3667 is simply superb, shame really the new castles are nowhere near that build quality, reality and sophistication , they are so inferior to steck , the 3666 is the king of castles if you ask me !!!

WoT , when you get your first 3666 let me know about any specific parts you might need ...errr i do have a  bit of steck and i would be happy to sent any such parts  ;)

Great pictures, and there is more then just a 3666 and a 3667 because you have an additional round tower which was not part of 3667, so you have got a bit extra. On the other hand I am afraid that you are missing the turret top of the round tower, you should be able to find loose ones on ebay.

I am up to 7 3666 by now with of course many additional steck lots here and there. My fingers are constantly itching to start building but I can't we need to make the Zoo first :-)

No, I have the turret.  I just took pictures before I pulled it out of the bag.  I was still excited about getting it all together.

Isn't what you have a 3666 and a 3888?  (Not a 3666 and a 3667.)

Welcome to the old but not forgotten world of steck my friend. My first medieval castle was a 3268 castle. It was good but has a great problem.it was killer of your imagination. One way only to build it.I have tried to take add ons extra parts but it was always the same. When i got my first 3666 and 3667 it was magic.I have build each one time to check the pattern and it was my last time.i have imagined a different castle pattern bought another two 3666 and 1 3667 and after that some extra parts. Each time i 'm taking out my castle's parts it is a different design of castle.THAT IS STECK.

AND FOR YOU THE SMALL PART(2-3 persons) OF MEDIEVAL COLLECTORS WHO LOVE X SYSTEM.
THE ONLY X SYSTEM CASTLE THAT HAS A TINY INTEREST IS 3269.

STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK!

YOU CAN STILL BUILDING IN ALL DIRECTIONs AS LONG AS YOU HAVE SPARE PARTS.
THERE IS ONLY ONE LIMIT YOUR WALLET!!!!!!!

STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK! STECK!

ENJOY YOUR BEAUTIFUL CASTLES MY FRIEND I AM WISHING YOU SOME MORE!!!

That's what I mean... Assembly buildings are fun to put together... and just about ANYONE can do it, without ever seeing the stuff before or without instructions... Now System X.. maybe I'm just too stupid, but I don't think I can just get to a pile of it and actually build something without instructions...

And it is NOT fun to put those idiotic pieces. And then they stick randomly in one of the two parts when we "break" the thing to put it away - not handy to put in a box.

I feel I need to react, here, guys. I used to be a hardcore steck lover as well. I enjoyed building my castle Neveling a lot. But now it seems I enjoyed building my Sys-x cathedral with equal feelings. It has been discussed a thousand times on the board(s), as to looks, Steck serves the medieval world best. Sys-X is better for modern buildings AND for cathedral/church building. The model I had in mind for my cathedral just couldn't be done with Steck, I needed Sys-X for that. Now my cathedral will be the main orientation point in my Steck city whereas it's built with Sys-x and I'm very happy the system provides exactly the parts I needed.

Steck forever!  ;D
Sys-x forever (if Geobra continues to produce small, interesting, and cheaper parts & plugs)  ;D

Quite. And you know the "worse"? I was never really interested in it. The sets were expensive, and in reality, the castles (and buildings in general) are far too small for the little guys.

Until the day my sister got the magician's workshop (for the rest, not for the tiny ruined tower). I must have played for hours with that dozen pieces....  :-[  It was my downfall.  After that, we got all the assembly...

We made a big find one day, in a store near an old commercial center, the kind that sells mostly mags and newspapers.. we found the old castle (3450)... about 50 EUR (though we didn't have Euros back then) :)

 It was my downfall.

 :evilplan: :evilplan: :evilplan: :evilplan:

When I saw in the mid 90s the 3666 for the first time , i felt dizzy and disoriented , i literally run to toy shops to get one and bought  another a few weeks later, and been buying since then , my downfall wasnt then though it was when i was around 5 and i constantly demanded a klicky every day from my parents, wouldnt let any kids come near my playmobil except a friend who also had loads of playmobil and we used to play with our playmobil ( he donated it all to me when i was about 22...) and keep all the otehr kids away, once a family visited us and the kiddo visiting was messing with my toys , i rememebr i threw him a glass of water ansd said I did it meself. No regrets, i had to protect my collection !!!!

I've bought my first non-steck castle about 1,5 month ago, the new small 4866.
I skpped the previous sys-X castles cause they didn't appeal to me.
The latest ones however look better, though there are again many (even) bigger parts included and no or not much options to change the build-up. But the shape of the 4866, with the DS-extension sets, looks just right for a 17th-18th century harbour-fortress. Think I'll order a few more wall-parts from DS to make enlarge it even more...
