Title: Removing Hot Glue

I am sure this topic has been covered before, but just wanted to share it as it came as a surprise to me.  About 4 months ago I bought a 5300 mansion on eBay.  It was not complete, by a long shot, but I got it for spare parts.  (You can never have enough spare parts!  :love: )  When it arrived, all of the pieces for the top floor, the attic and most of the first floor were glued together.  At first glance, it looked like air plane model glue.  I was so disheartened that I put it in the storage room and so I wouldn't  have to look at it.  Long story short, I took a look at it earlier this weekend and found that the glue was pretty pliable.   I think it was hot glue.  I threw the whole house in the slop sink in the garage and soaked it in hot water.  To my surprise, the pieces came apart with some careful maneuvering.   Diligent scraping with my trusty thumbnail allowed me to get most of the glue off of everything.  As this was new to me, I thought there might be others out there who could benefit from my experience.  Don't you just love a story with a happy ending?  ;D

BTW did you try the H2O2 to whiten yellowed parts?

Yes I did Gaston and it worked like a dream.   :**:  I think keeping them in a tightly sealed container and in a dark place really did the trick, I am planning on doing another load of whites very soon.

 :wave: I was able to complete this 5305 with the parts I salvaged.  I think it is a little gem!  :love:
