Title: Gentillhomme custom

the idea to use this hat is not mine ; i see that the first time on gardenwargaming with someone named specialist (i don't know if he was the first but it's a wonderfull idea !!) so i made a fews with this idea .

if my memory is good the custom of specialist was a bit like this one .

could somebody explain to me the difference between bourgeoisie and aristocracy? i thought they were the same thing ???

Well bourgeoisie is mostly a sociopolitical term, a social class characterised by their ownership of capital. A bourgeois is not an old aristocrat, (who usually owns wealth and property from generations ago, or he may be even broke but still retain his aristocratic look because his brought up makes him so,) but rather a person who is shop owner or a wealthy merchant.

The two terms can overlap as an aristocrat, have invested his capital in a business, has become a bourgeois, while an bourgeois, through acquiring wealth, can be characterised as an aristocrat because of the way he lives, having money and all...

Hope that makes sence...

Nice customs, I really like this time-period in history!
Btw, I also use that western-hat for the same purposes  ;)
The hat can also be used for 17th/18th century colonists...

i think of the film "la folie des grandeurs" with Louis de Funes when i do that , it was in spain but sure we could use this hat to make good customs .
