Hey!Hey!
Since I couldn't go to William and Kate's wedding party (I sent a long apology letter), I made some more customs, again. Can't help...
I've been using the new Green Dragon design to make two totally new series. Since Wolfie mentioned there hadn't any white Dragons then my first idea was to make a White Dragon, then I tried a Black one, and now I love both.
The design is pretty much the same as the original, except I added twisted horns which IMO, lacked before. I managed to get some of those dark green knights from the 5861 US exclusive set and I quite liked their colors so they became my White Dragon knights.
Then , someone posted a nice picture of what a "lance" should be (was it WoT? Skywalker? Can't remember). I noticed this wonderful Golden Lily horse coat, with a burgundy background and went for it. For this one I made a simple caparison with a large golden lily on the front and back, but the one I'm showing you is quite different. I tried to make a full plate-armor caparison for once, I quite like the result. Though, with hindsight, I should have put a black head cover on the horse. This peculiar caparison was printed on vinyle, that's why it's so glossy.
Finally, I tried my own version of samuraï and Japanese infantry armor. I don't have Master cheng's gift to paint the legs, so I did with what was at hand!
OK, now. Enough talking. Pics.

Brilliant idea on the white and black dragons!!! The horns add a certain character, they look like Balrog's head this way! I love them!!!
The full plate caparison also is great! And the Samurais are awesome!!!
-
I love your dragon knight designs! Your the master!
-
brilliant designs Arnaud!
-
great !!!!! I love the horse and samurai!! the platers are all fantastic!
-
Excellent creations! BTW, sorry you were too busy working on these customs to miss the Royal Wedding! ;)
-
Really like them all !!
-
Pretty sweet!
I like the barding on the horse.
How long did it take you to design that?
-
I never really liked the dragon design... :-[
I was really hoping as I was reading your message,
that you were talking about the golden wyverns... :toot:
But I think you made them quite better,
and the twisted horns look great!
I really like your Lilly knight, excellent job! :wow:
Your samurai were certainly good, :)
But the leg armor was a little short. :-\
Also, it might be an interesting idea
if you used the chest sticker on some plate armor. :yup:
-
Excellent work, Arnaud, and a much better way to spend your time than going to a stupid royal wedding!
-
@WoT: what do you mean about plate armor? I don't get it.

Thanks Gordon.
I thought all the English were fond of their Royal Family! :-\

Thanks Gordon.
I thought all the English were fond of their Royal Family! :-\
Maybe he's Welsh. ;)
-
great design , i really like them all , especially the horse . Good idea to start to work on asian , the yellow is my favorite .
-
I thought all the English were fond of their Royal Family! :-\
Far from it Arnaud. The royal family are a pretty disfunctional lot and although the press go all gaga over them and lots of people get carried away with this, there is a strong and growing feeling that enough is enough and that, if we are to continue with a monarchy then it should be a slimmed down one with fewer members of the family living at the taxpayers' expense. Do you know that no one is allowed to touch the queen? Well, that's true so if she slips and falls in theory whoever is standing near by should just let her!
-
Just because there is media hype doesn't mean everyone buys in to it. Just like not everyone in the US really cares whether Miley Cyrus' parents get divorced and why.
-
@WoT: what do you mean about plate armor? I don't get it.

Hey.
I've already shown most of these, but I made some changes I wanted to share.

That's it! Sorry for the bad lighting; I've tried to make these pictures all day, but in the end I had to wait for the kids to be in bed. Such time consuming passions! (My kinds and PMs!)
Cheers,
Arnaud

Hey! It's been a while since I haven't posted some knight customs. I must say I'm a bit busy with another (computer) project so I haven't used Photoshop for a while. But! I took some time to print a few more designs and make the figures and horse coats (which is, by far, the longest and trickiest part of the process).
To start with, here's the München Knight:
Now, a rider from the Teutonic Knights Order:
Then, I wanted a caparison for the Wolf clan that would fit ont the 2nd generation horses:
Actually, I made two! :-[
(http://i762.photobucket.com/albums/xx266/cowabounga/Knights/Knights%20on%20horses/file-6.jpg)
On Grangel's request, I made this caparison for that lonely knight from set #3137, who has a nice heraldry. I was so happy with the result, I made one for myself! Soory Angelo, but since you're not showing yours...here's my version:
That's it!
Gotta get back to work Photoshop now!
Best,
Arnaud

Congrats from the master himself! I'm impressed. ;D ;D ;D
Thanks Javi! It's a pity you don't post more often here, I think we have lots to share.

Some new knights, footmen for a change,

I made the shield for the next one after Elric posted some knights with this crest, luckily I had THE matching cloak. But I have just one.

Hello Javi!
Actually, my first draft was these:
But someone told me the true colours were red and gold, so I checked there:
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:Armoiries_Ibelin.svg
It seems Ridley Scott chose to have his characters wear really worn clothes, hence the faded colours.
Best,
Arnaud
-
wow! I missed this thread for a couple of days...the vikings are awesomeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
and form these last couple of pics I love the white guy with one brown arm
-
OK. Arnaud....you are right!!...
For my personal taste I prefer this second version on Black & White....
-
I've just caught up again with this thread after the first postings. Looking through it all again, the liveries and caparisons are just stunning! I remember in my early teens I had a book from the library Boutel's Heraldry and looking at your customs it's as if it has come to life in Playmobil.
:wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:
This one and the other version of it remind me of the Scottish coat of arms:
http://i762.photobucket.com/albums/xx266/cowabounga/file-70.jpg
-
Thanks all!
@Gordon: actually, this is Guillaume de Beaulieu. I just found the name when surfing on Wiki. He became Grand Master of the Order of the Temple in 1273.
This is the coat of arms of Scotland:

Ah yes, that's it. There was something about the other two coats of arms I couldn't quite place as being different.
-
Love those knights!
Wish I could do that - would love to create my own knights.
But where did you get his spear ?
That's exactly what I am looking for for my heavy guard.
Bogro

But where did you get his spear ?
its from the new Mongol special :)
-
Thanks!
Was afraid of that ...
Bogro
-
Nope.
Wrong guess Panos! It's a long spear, not the short one from the Mongol warrior. It's from set 4840, http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-20-3182
Check the grip, it's much wider than on the short spear.
Best,
Arnaud

they looks so similar... :lens:
-
I´m afraid you´ve got the wrong one, Arnaud.
It´s not the spear from the Egg-mongol, but the spear from the special Mongol; 4745
(http://demandware.edgesuite.net/aabe_prd/on/demandware.static/Sites-DE-Site/Sites-Catalog/de_DE/v1311166291839/imagesOnline/content/4745.jpg)
Just compare the end of the shaft. The Mongol's spear tapers out on the end, while yours has more of a stump.
Also the spearhead is different. Yours has two stubs on either side of the shaft (near the spearhead) so that the tassles stay up. The Mongol's spear hasn't -it's a straight line.
It's definitly the Mongol's spear.
The one without a partnumber ...
darn!
Bogro
-
Yes this was the one I was refering to.
-
:hmm:
I think those are the same, then. So where did I get the short ones from? Or am I completely mistaken and there a no short Silver spears? Gotta check this at home ( at the restaurant having the best pizza in Paris, right now!)
Best,
Arnaud
-
Bon Appetit!

Hey guys!
I'm on holiday with wifey and the kids, but I took a few pics before I left! I have a poor internet connection since I'm using my iPhone as a 3G modem for my computer (still better than no internet at all!) :(
So here's the first figure. He's from Kingdom of Heaven again, I forgot his name but on screen he's played by Jeremy Irons.
Then, this horse coat existed already but not for the second generation horses, so I made one:
Then again. I never liked the Green Dragon knights. Something was wrong with them from the beginning, maybe these awful turquoise boots, maybe the moustache. I don't know...
But, that one with the red shield and caparisoned horse was beautiful. So were the golden accessories in the princess castle's treasure chamber. So I sort of mixed this and that and made two new caparisons for these ugly knights. And customised the rider himself too, of course...couldn't help!
There you go:
Silver version:
Black version:
I have made a whole bunch of new designs, but I can't print them for the moment, so you'll have to wait.
Best,
Arnaud
PS: sorry for the small size of the pictures. I can't upload bigger files, it would take hours!
-
Arnaud, these are superb!!!
-
I quite like the black one! Amazing job. :) :wow:
-
the Jerusalim commander of the guard is fantastic!
and the comparison for the Green dragon is great!

:hmm:

The short spear comes with the Mongol Easter egg but in brown. Not sure if there is a short spear in silver.
