Title: STECK
Post by: Giorginetto on April 26, 2011, 08:31:04
STECK IS COMING BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!

HAdocks' post about the new DS  catalogue shows a steck bakwery house in the front . So my signature, half of it so far is coming true !!! I will probably buy 10 of these bakery houses as they are ideal for shops and eventually i plan my next steck city to have 60- 70  steck houses ( currently at 40) . So STECK is coming back !!!! Hopefully more of the old steck houses will be made and i truly hope the next generation of castles be based on steck perhasp with new gates, fortifications, roofs , decorative items BUT still based on the toothed steck rock wall block which is superb for costruction

So someone tell playmobil to bring back the nuremberg guards also , I will buy 500 of them the very day they come out at least !!!!!!!!!!!

Umm steck never left the catalogs, As soon as the steck castles were discontinued the extensions for the castles remained. Then the houses were introduced and the house with barn also follow. The red, blue, yellow, white w/barn and now the bakery house have kept steck alive the whole time  :hmm:

It is going to be great to be able to get the bakery wall at a reasonable price finally  :woohoo:.

Three questions,

did it have the old slanted dormer window or the new pitched ones?

did it have a chimney?

did it have a blank wall with 2 male ends?

I do not get what you are saying? Geobra has been bringing old sets back for quite a while now. I do not know the exact date but all the timber houses were re-releases and also all the classic edition cars/trucks, Victorian fence, beer barrel  :crossed:  etc.....The colors might be slightly different but the sets are old,  so to me this is not a sign of thing to come but a sign of a continuing trend (which is a trend I like very much )

If we collectors continue to support such trends through voting with our money then Geobra being the business that it is will continue  ;)

you are right Rasputin but my hopes are that steck will come back as normal sets, that castles will be based on steck once again and also bring out medieval stores, inns and the old classic sets, evenb bring back the nuremberg guards maybe slightly modified . i really hope for that thus my reference to hope of things to come ...

I'm pretty sure it has the blank wall with 2 male ends. I don't know about the other parts.

The original baker's house had than blank wall and its quite a rare all as if i remember correctly only the bakers steck house had that blank wall . Actually it looks really cool , quite hard to find , at over 10euros each....

Rasputin
My bakery has the slanted dormer window (no inside framing) a chimney, and one of the timbered walls is solid (no windows) with male ends.

If you're looking for the blank white wall, you can find also find it in 3 other old steck-houses (or as loose parts from these sets):

* die Scheune 3443 (the barn):

* das Gasthaus 3448 (the tavern)

* das Museum 3449

for all of our sakes lets hope it has a double male blank wall and a chimney, new or old version or we will have a lynch mob on our hands screens

finally it will be easy to build a bigger timber house, I never wanted to go through all the work Gordon (aka Playmofire) went through to make one ..... dozen 8}

Thanks for the info everyone  :**:

wait a minute guys ... from other topics been discussed here in pf it is mentioned that the mould of this wall -part

does not exist any more ...   ??? ???

Yes I remember that, I was surprised because of it when they decided to do this structure. If the mold really was gone they must have made a new one. I think the colored Steck houses have done well so it would probably be worth the investment. I think they will sell lots of them.

Steck is back . Lets hope they expand it to the next generation mediaval castles so they become once again a proper construction toy only this time with different gates, towers , roofs , all compatible with the old ones of course !!! Now all we I need is nuremberg guards  to make a come back !!!! then i dont need my time machine project to continue anymore

I would LOVE to have walls that curve 45 degrees instead of 90 so it takes 8 wall pieces to make a tower...oh what grand towers you could make!!!

Unfortunately, yo would need all sorts of different platforms and merlins and such as well,
It is really a bigger idea then it seems... The tip of the iceberg if you will.

that would be a grand idea, i would love to see such steck made one day. I am quite positive as system x failed to last , the clip and the latest designs offer no customization and seem even less successful and short lived than steck. On the other hand steck is still on DS catalogues and so many sets have been made sicne the 70s. playmobil can change the style a bit, keep it compatible with the old style, there is no need to change the marvelous toothed basic steck stone wall and create new towers , new gates and perhasp new roofs . the recent blue, red , yellow houses were a great improvement and show i think the massive potential of steck . i think it has been marketed wrong , it could have been promoted more of a construction/ customisation toy on top of everything else ...... a steck house with varius signs and klickies creating 3-4 different types of shops etc just a simple idea.

Oh yes, how great would that be - big towers! I have long bemoaned the small towers.

I am getting all feverish at the prospect of new steck castles! Imagine if that happened!

I remember when Playmobil first came out with their round tower.  It was such a HUGE improvement and I can not say how excited I was to see pictures of it announcing it.

You are right, of course, we need a bigger tower (diameter) - it is way underscale for the size of the figures.  It works much better with 54mm figures.

I wonder why they changed away from the Steck castle pieces in the first place (let alone the other buildings and why System X was introduced at all).  However, I suspect money and marketing were the major players.

i don´t understand the madness about steck parts. there are tons of parts @ ebay for reasonable prices.

if you are looking for one or two parts it does not make such a great difference to buy wherever you are and buy at ebay from the country you live. if you want a big amount of steck you ask some of the sellers at ebay germany for cheap shipping and reduced price and they will help. not all are bad people - at the end nobody who has a shop @ ebay wants a bad review. i just ordered a lot of steck parts i was constantly short of and i saw the amounts of steck that where there. a steck house wall with door and window for 4,50 € for example is a normal price 1. i don´t think that this part will be available as a single spare part 2. what will it cost ? -   2€ ? no way. ....prices will even fall for used parts when they are available. and buying 30 bakerys is just ridiculous if you need the parts for other houses. also the farm steck house which is @ DS right now is the better choice if you need these parts. but + 20 € more you could buy a hole steck castle with lots of parts - easy - 10 every day...

ANd the 3555 farm set. Actually that wall piece is included in almost every eighties Steck house.

If I need a steck fix I usually buy a castle from persons who are even to lazy to put the castle or house together, those are prett cheap on ebay!
