Title: Is this an actual set?
Post by: naflibomyalp on April 24, 2011, 15:11:48
By actual I mean a set that has been produced by Playmobil and has a set number.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150594146727&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

It's on eBay UK and is described as 'ultra rare'.  I am not interested in buying it- it was just curiosity.
I have never heard of it before (then again I do profess to not know a lot about the framework buildings) and I thought it unusual that it came with so many figures.  :hmm: I have searched my collectors book without success and wanted to know what it was about it that has people bidding £41 with a week to go!

Now, there's a bit of 'whoo haa' with this one.

It's a custom, but I wouldn't buy it as I tried to buy it but this guy who is selling it got it dodgily of the person who was selling it originally from who I was trying to buy it off.

If that makes any sense at all! 8}

I didn't think it was an official set but I was amazed at the price it has already reached.  To me it doesn't look worth it.   :eh?:

Looks like an ASP (all spare parts). I have a signal cabin on my layout that I made the same way.

What ?

The person selling it now bought it in a questionable manner off of a person you were trying to buy if from. Whats with all the re-selling with this lot?

To make money.

I thought, ooh, this looks good, I'll go for this (although I guessed it may go for a bit), but then the seller removed it from sale, and then a week later this other seller was selling it!

I bet the first seller may not be too pleased if it goes for more than he sold it for!

Are you going to show it us, Walt?

No he probably contacted the seller and made an offer. Once when Chris and I were selling legos, within five minutes of listing several sets, Chris got a phone call from a guy wanting to make a deal for several of them, and since there were no bids yet, Chris ended the auctions and sold them to him; ebay allows you to do that. Of course, if others are already bidding on the item, it wouldn't be a very nice thing to do. But that's probably what happened here.

Whatever the matter, I think its a brilliant idea for a custom !!!

Damo :)

Really if you think about it everyone on Ebay and any other auction site is there to make money. If they were just there to get rid of toys and money was not an objective they could much more easily donate the toys to a neighbor kid, charity or worse yet, throw them in the trash.

I guess it is such a nice little custom lot that it attracted the attention of collectors and re-listers alike

I have tried successfully many times to buy a lot by contacting a seller after an auction ends with zero bids but I have never tried to buy before bids or in the middle of an auction. Hmm might have to try now that you say it works  :P

To see the signal box made up of spare parts go to my web site.
On the new layout page it is in the middle of the photograph of Talsarnau 2009.

This steck house is very easy to make , doesnt have the door/ window wall frame as one would expect , its just made of steck pieces , i think all together they are worth about 25 euros tops. Some of the klickies are interesting but nothign more than that . Actually if I was to make a harbour house i would use the blue steck house. i think it would look much better than this . Also the roof panel used is very castle oriented and i think a very poor choice for a 17-18th century steck house.
