Title: Hi from the Uk
Post by: naflibomyalp on March 26, 2011, 09:34:39
Hi,

My name is Verity, I am 16 and live in the UK.
I received my first Playmobil for my 4th birthday and Christmas (they are only 3 days appart), a 5300 with extension floor and room sets.  My parents bought the mansion and extension and the rest of my family bought a room set each.  Since then I received other Playmobil as gifts such as the market stall and a pond.  When I got older I started to choose and buy my own ( I remember being torn between the camper van or the car and caravan!) I think I would classify myself as a collector when I was about 12.  In 2009 I purchased another 5300 from eBay then a 5305 last year.  On my summer holidays a came across a toyshop which still had 2 sealed 5300s on their shelves for sale needless to say I bought them too and then in the same holiday I got a 5301 which isn't my favourite but serves well as a schoolbuilding.

Anyway I seemed to have rambled quite a bit but mainly I collect victorian and any other sets that I can some how fit into my scenes!
Once I find out how to post photos I will do that.

Naflibomyalp  :)

Hi Verity, welcome from North Yorkshire!

You were wise to snap up those 5300s.  Shortly after starting to collect Playmobil in the late 1990s I passed on buying two 5300s at £60 each and I've always regretted it.   :(

Thanks.

The two 5300s are still sealed and currently stand in my bedroom under a blanket as I can't decide what I want to do with them and they take up quite a bit of space.  One cost me £113 and the other £100 because it had been stored in their basement and was a bit grubby.

Sadly, I can't take credit for my user name it was my dad's idea.   :-[

Other members will probably shout at me, but whatever you do - Don't open them! ;D

I once had an opportunity to buy one at a toymaster for £120, but stupidly I didn't buy it! :(

Hello Verity and welcome to Playmofriends from Greece!!!

I only have one 5300 and opened it... You'll find out that there many members here who own multiple 5300 and some of them are still sealed.

I suggest you keep them sealed, unless the boxes are very dirty, and when you can spare some money, perhaps you can buy a couple of more 5300's, box free, from ebay! Then you can slowly make your way creating victorian street dioramas!

Good to have you with us!

Hi Verity
Welcome from the Scottish Highlands! :coo:

You've managed to accumulate an impressive amount of Victorian Playmobil sets! 8-)
That is my all-time favourite theme also, followed closely by the Fairies/Magic sets and Knights.

Have fun at PlaymoFriends! :)

welcome from san francisco, and congratulations on finding the sealed 5300s.  the victorian series is my favorite as well, although it is not nearly as extensive as that of some of our other friends here.  this is a great forum, the customizing talent and the knowledge base of the members about every little detail about playmobil never ceases to amaze me.

Many members have done some beautiful custom projects! Be sure to investigate Emma J., Playmovictorian, basilsdad, tonguello, & others to see how great customs can be made from this theme that you share interest in!

Hi Elaine,

I am very impressed with your Victorian collection.

Thanks-its nice to hear from people who actually understand what it is!   Most people don't understand.    ::)

It's great to have another UK member here, which part of the country are you from?

I live in Lancashire.  Quick question:  Are you doing an exhibition this summer?  I am definitely interested in coming (with or without some of my Playmobil)!

Verity
