Takeda Nobushige (1525 – 1561) was the younger brother of the more famous Takeda Shingen. Nobushige was meant to inherit the Takeda lands, wealth and power, becoming head of the clan. However, Shingen rebelled against their father and seized power. Nobushige nevertheless fought alongside his brother who relied on him for support.
At the fourth battle of Kawanakajima, Nobushige charged his troops(200 mounted samurai and 500 ashigaru) into the enemy but was suddenly surrounded by samurai and was cut down, but not before he killed his killers. :P

(some technical explanations);
Lacquer Black with gold crests were very popular too with samurai armies.
quote wikipedia "During the Edo (1603 - 1867) period, many Japanese foot soldiers (ashigaru) wore 1 piece front chest armor (Breastplate and front tassets only) "hara-ate dou" (munition grade) which were Lacquered iron plates
(replacing the earlier 'dou' which were of lamellar constructed strips of
lacquered hardened leather offerring reasonable protection
against arrows, swords or spears but were no longer enough with the introduction of guns (the samurai were one of the most enthusiastic users of firearms and produced more guns than any European country in this time frame! ;D)
the sashimono('back' flag) bearer (a samurai who has proven his loyalty and fighting skills) wears a small protective metal plate (perhaps its better than nothing when a sword comes down on his head :P) sewn onto his hachimaki (white head scarf)

I really love the historical background and your ''how-to'' info when posting your excellent customs cheng!
Thank you once more!
-
Absolutely outstanding, Cheng! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/luwerner/gif/clapping.gif)

Once again, Cheng, I love the details on your figures, and the historical briefings too.
I like the way the katanas hang horizontally on the right side of the samuraïs, so much nicer than the samuraï PF just launched... :wall:
Are they glued?
A.

Yes, did you do these the same way as before...? 8-)
Hey, Do I see what I think I see? ;)

Brilliant Cheng! :omg:
Those are absolutely amazing!
Magnificently, brilliant idea!!!! :wow: :wow: :wow:
So simple, even I might do it... ;)
-
Wonderful!
I don't know what you think you see WoT, all looks fine and dandy to me.
-
Wow those are just as great as all of your customs
Thanks for sharing
-
Wonderful work again, cheng, dear friend and always you teach us more too. :wow:
-
thanks playmofriends! :)

you meant did I hang them with those white urethane loops? no I didnt...I just inserted their katanas snugly between their wrists and their quite stiff tassels..not enough space for my normal loops :P but still looking for a solution...and of course I still believe in putting them blades facing up for short side arms...so, cowabounga, still no glues on any of my customs until today ;D
Hey, Do I see what I think I see? ;)
huh? I see you put one of those frogs-in-ice-cube thingys which I have been seeing a lot 8} lately...I think its my PC setting since I've maxed my anti-cookies setting...I've been seeing only frogs in many threads :-\

please do join me...I think we must continue hinting to Geobra so that they dont launch a whole samurai theme using the new samurai moulds ;D
I forgot to mention one more thing..those brown strips on their upper arms are supposed to be armor plates sewn onto their sleeves...I'm waiting for some new katana(swords) to spray lacquer-red...again a big hint to Geobra for a sheathed katana :P

Oops, here is this better?
-
Ah..so desu ne! ;D
(only photos hosted on this frog-thingy website cant be viewed by some of us?!)
...anyway, you meant their kusazuri (or kasazuri)
(tassets usually of lamellar construction, from lacquered leather or even iron panels hanging from the bottom of the chest armor "dou")
if I didnt add them, my ashigaru looks 'naked' :P and wont look right. experiment it yourself...1cm x 1cm will be just the right scale
I was wondering how Geobra's developement team would tackle the probalm of making hanging tassets for a samurai but maybe like the new samurai special, they might only put them on their sides ::)

Cheng, if you take a look here: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=7425.0 it should shed a little light on the frog in ice problem, and possibly give you a solution to the problem. :)
-
thanks a lot bonniebeth  will try registering (maybe its got nothing to do with my PC setting afterall) and will ask in the thread you just showed me :)
-
You're welcome! Hope it works.

Thanks for your detailed description of the leg armor, or kusazuri.
What did you make them out of?
Just paper? ???
Can your Ashigaru still sit with them on? :)

no paper/cardboard/magic markerpens :P i need to wash my customs under a running tap when too much dust collects on them...I use the same sticker sheets like those I use for their iron hats (get thicker grades and those U-V proof ones they use for road signs...if they can withstand our sun and rain here all year round, they will last almost forever on my customs, or as long as i'm around ;D
Can your Ashigaru still sit with them on? :)
yes..when i fit them, sometimes I accidentally force them into a sitting position, but I dont want to in case they crease...wonder how Geobra would tackle this ;) )

These look super, Cheng! Thank you for the history lesson too! :)
