I wanted interior lighting without rewiring my passenger cars. Its easy to do with cheap parts. The two main parts are led light and a 3v cr2032 lithium battery. The LED leads can be taped to the battery. In my pictures I used a neodymium magnet to attach the light to the roof. In the First picture 1. neodymium magnet 2. battery 3v cr2032 3. 10mm LED white diffused. The last picture not really good I'm going to try to get a picture of the passenger car outside.

KISS principle solution ;D!
I LOVE it, thanks for the idea! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/luwerner/gif/cheers.gif)

This is a great way to do this custom addition for the train cars! Thank you for sharing your ingenious idea with us!

Thas for sharing this very creative idea!
One question, does he light function by just attaching it on the battery?
-
A very simple but clever idea. Thank you.

That is a brilliant idea, with possible application in all sorts of places besides trains. I will definitely have to try it out.

yes the led leads just have to be touching the positive and negative sides of the battery. The leads on the led are different lengths. The longer lead goes the positive and the shorter goes to the negative.

Great idea and quite simple making it even better. From the picture it looks like it is quite effective and realistic

The lighting looks really good! Thanks for showing us how you do it!

Thank you for showing us this, it looks great. :thanks:
Is there any special tape you would use to fasten the light to the battery?

Just about any tape would work. I've used electrical tape and packaging tape. I prefer the packaging tape, because black electrical tape can leave sticky on stuff.
The battery puts off No heat or shock. Looking back on this velcro or blue tacky would work great for attaching the light to the roof or in any building. The Neodymium magnets (these magnets are really strong) are small and pets or young kids could swallow them.

Thanks for the information. :thanks:
