Title: HiRail or road-rail vehicle
Post by: tomegood87 on March 09, 2011, 20:00:14
I was wondering if anyone has thought of making a road to rail vehicle.  I'm thinking about making one out of an RC truck.  The delivery truck 4322 looks like it would work.

I would certainly be interested to see this happening!

the wheels that go on the rails are my biggest problem.  I have plenty of the regular sized train wheels, but i need find something smaller.

That's an interesting idea for a project! I don't recall seeing any customs of that before.

I would recommend looking for LGB or other companies that would make this and cannibalize the small wheel assemblies for use on your Playmobil truck

I could only find a HO scale but there must be a G scale one somewhere

Here's someone who did it with a 1:32/1:35 scale vehicle:

Title: 4054 (not 4052) for the axles!

I would not take one the most expensive locos 4052 for this custom...
In the DS the axle is not available for years (the model 4052 is much more than 6 years after selling in shops).

4054 has 2 axles like this and it's much cheaper e.g. in bad constitution (in Germany)...
LGB has the same axle in its program, but its more expensive than the playmobil pieces.

In the klickywelt one (klickytrain) made an oldtimer truck which rides on rails (http://www.klickywelt.de/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=43147).

Here is a picture of another one (non playmobil). (http://www.buntbahn.de/fotos/data/6048/81Auto_008.jpg)

Yeah i wasn't expecting DS to have those wheels.   I'm looking now at some different brand wheels.  The cheap newbright  loco have two pilot wheels that could work.
