Title: My First Painted Klicky
Post by: bonniebeth on February 28, 2011, 21:15:49
I decided to do this completely on a whim today, mostly just for practice, using nail polish (thank you for the tip, Daniela!) that I had on hand. I think she turned out pretty well, though there are a few mistakes. I handled her a little too soon and had to retouch a few areas, but hey, this was my first time hand painting a klicky. Hope you like her!

BTW, this is my favorite color to use on my nails, with the same glittery topcoat!

Yesterday, I decided to use nail polish on another klicky, and I really liked the results! She's the little girl from this set: http://playmodb.org/setpics/4137.jpg I really was not crazy about the bright yellow skirt she had, as it did not go with the pink printing on her torso or the pink ribbons. The yellow seems to come out of nowhere. So I modified it!

Pink polish on the upper part, white nail polish for the ruffle, and I think it looks much better!

The pink and white skirt is definitely a marked improvement on the little princess' ensemble. I also wonder why they originally used yellow for this skirt. :eh?:

I adore the sapphire blue dress too! You've done a fantastic makeover job on both of them.

Bonnie, what kind of brush did you use? And you just applied the nail polish without diluting it?

The lady in blue is beautiful Bonnie, that is a fantastic shade of blue, and I love the glitter on her collar too.  :wow:
The little princess looks so much better in pink, and thank you for putting the link rather than just saying which set she was from, it made it much easier to see how she started out.  :thanks:

Do you mean the band at the bottom? I did think about painting that white, really the only reason I didn't was that I slopped blue onto it and decided to just go with it.

Yes, just straight nail polish, and I used the nail polish brush that comes with it. Those brushes are already made for delicate painting!

Thank you for all your kind remarks, everyone!

Fantastic! Now I know that if I ever need glossy black or white paint I can use regular nail polish. Thanx for the tips! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/luwerner/gif/cheers.gif)

exquisite work bb!
the glitter blue and sweet pink 'nail-painting' look spray painted!
...they dont look thick or hand-painted at this scale  :)
...let's see which of his soldier's toe nails PrimusP will be painting black or white  ;)
(I did use nail polish for my Tamiya racing cars' rear lights etc)
