Some of us use our Playmobil for more than 1 purpuse, so maybe the question should be 'What do you mostly use your Playmobil for?
I am mainly into displaying, that is the first thing that comes to my mind when I look for a set (even though I don't have much room left anymore :P). I just love to see my sets all set up and together by themes.
Followed by photo art and customizing.
I would love to hear what each and everyone of the PF members finds the most interesting about this hobby and see what's the most and least popular trend 8-)
PS Let me know if I missed a category in the poll
PS2 Voting is limited only to your top-rated preference so we can get more accurante results. Vote! :D

I guess I would fall under displaying. The main thing I like is building dioramas, which I don't have the space to leave up, but they are temporarily on display, and that's when I'm happiest! ;D i also have smaller sets and specials displayed on shelves in my living room.
-
well... I couldn't pick one... but if I had to it would have to be displaying just because I have more limited time for the other activites like photo art, story telling and customizing.
There was a poll a few months ago about this same theme. I wonder how it turned out.... can't find it sorry.

What's "warwaming"?
-
wargaming he meant :)
-
yeah, it was wargaming (sorry aboyt the typo). I just fixed it
i too looked for the old thread and couldn't find it either :)
so far customizing is the most popular :o
-
I think this is a really good topic, so I can see why it has come up more than once ;) I primarily display, but playing is a big part of my collection. I often think about a klicky's love interest or possible niche for him or her our Playmoworld. Collin loves to play with me, too, so I think that helps
-
Playing, displaying, customising (just swapping parts actually or expanding castles), story telling (when time permits...) and keeping some misb sets! :)
So just one vote is not enough for me ;D
-
I make custom. I like to make pictures of them, photostories when I have time. I also have a few collector's figures, maybe six…
Arnaud
-
I selected photo art, but I'm as well a player, customiser and builder.
-
Mainly displaying, at the moment, with a bit of playing. I also like customising and (photo)storytelling, something I haven't had time to do for quite a while though.
I hate keeping Playmobil MIB, that's not what it was ever intended for. ;)
-
I am a story teller mainly. the fact that I have currently three, behind the scenes stories surrounding Winterhaven running with different people tells me as much :-) I am planning to make short photo stories about these adventures left and right :-)
I have never actually built a diorama but setting up for the Winterhaven Jousting Tournament was a lot of fun and we are definitely planning to make a huge Zoo diorama.

Playing, Displaying, Customising, keeping some in boxes etc , why only one choice??? :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
-
My top three are Displaying, playing, and story telling :)
But then I also do a bit of MIBing! :evilplan:
Damo :)

you have to pick your top rated preference and cast your vote towards that one :)
if you like the four choices equally, then i need to edit the poll and allow more than 1 vote per member - should I? ;D
-
:yup:
-
no! it is fun this way! ;D
-
Other, Fulfilling an empty void that was left in me from a very young age due to my parents never guiding me into playmobil purchases. Now I have to over compensate and collect everything in multiples :loco:
-
I chose other, because I use my collection for multiple purposes, so I can't feel comfortable choosing just 1, it's like LAY'S potato chips, no body can eat just one! ;D
-
you forgot Maniac in your list :)
-
displaying seems to be the most popular use of PM so far :D
as for playing - what does your playing normally consist of? i sometimes play with them too, but i end up cracking up about my klicky 'dialogues' (which are normally pretty adult-oriented 'conversations' and situations... ) lol :-[

I'm of the displaying kind as well. I guess its for the creative part of it.

Do you really think there are that many posters? I only have a dozen or two? I never really checked
I like the idea of making fullsized posters out of catalog images

i don't think so - i too have quite a few, around 15 or 18 (which only come in big sets btw)
but playmo1989 hasn't answered, so who knows :P

and you have to open the actual set to even find one. Since Playmo1989 does not even open the boxes how would he know if there was one in there ;)

I've put "displaying" in the vote, but as my son and I share the Playmobil (and my husband has an occasional passing interest) it's more a case of "play and display".
The boy usually sets up a display on the floor, with a running commentary as to what is going to happen, and then we either play together, or I watch and listen, as a story unfolds. If I had more time, I'd record the lot as he has some fabulous ideas. Likewise, I should get the camera out more.
As for customising, he often swaps hair and hats around to suit the purpose of a story or to make one of his people look like someone he knows. He also improvises if he hasn't got something he needs, he'll use something else (also a subtle hint to me as to what's next on the shopping list!!). We also mix and match most of our sets to suit what's going on in his "Playmobil world".
We've done a couple of stop motion animations too, and again, it's more a case of time (or lack of it) that we haven't done any more. There are several in the pipeline (or rather in my son's head).
So, it's almost "all of the above" really, as everything starts with a display. When our builder has finished moving the walls outwards ( ;)) we'll have space to have a display going while we are playing with the other stuff. I'll be able to get the secret stash of Playmobil out of the loft then (bit by bit, of course) 8-) and you can see what else we've got (although you haven't seen everything yet anyway as it's a bit too chaotic here, and I've been a bit too busy to keep on top of the photography of late).

I'm storytelling, with or without pictures ... There's always stories. And characters. Which makes some things difficult, because it's very hard to disassemble the characters, and there are some I simply cannot, so, I usually lack parts for doing new stuff :-[
But, slowly, it goes on! :)
I usually share here only the characters related to my material collection, however, I also do a lot of creation thinking characters from sets I don't have ... It all began (again, after a while, since late '90s) back in 2008, when I found Collectobil.com in the internet ... My first generation is the traditional KLICKY medieval '80s collection, I gave names to all of them, and made stories. Then, I began buying playmo again, and came up with Elmo & Fletcher (who had their names and stories before they arrived  .. even though lots of new stuff happened to them after they arrived, of course).
So, it's stories

I'm actualle mainly a collector. I'd like to do more displaying, but don't seem to find the time as I do like to watch the tv a lot as relaxation.
Resently I've desided to return a room to it's original guest status. Which meant that the official Playmobil room had to be converted. First I had everything in the open. But now I've bought 26 Ikea boxes to put most of it in. Which leaves some shelves free for doing some displaying. And hopefully that wil help me in getting some displaying done.

Only just found this :-[
I voted displying because at the moment I'm collecting and planning things for this years Kirkbean exhibition, but I enjoy photo stories very much and some customising too when I have time. I also play with Playmo with James too.
