I'm sorry. I'm really really sorry, Giorginetto.
Recently I bought a really nice lot. 3 steck houses, one with pointed roof. Al the bits were there, toast, lanterns, bolts on the doors. Nice price. Some animals, magic tree, furniture and some nice Nuremburg guards.
Decided to clean the lot. Used a detergent called biotex. Works well, normally.

This was the result:

Luckily the rest of the playmobil survived okee. I'll never use this stuff again. A warning to you all!

Oh... wow. :o
Seems like you need to get painting now... ;)
-
:omg: Oh my goodness!!! Who would have thought it would be that much of a disaster? Thanks so much for the warning!
-
:omg: :o I'd go into hiding if I were you!

Perhaps you'd like to have a look at this thread Ali! ;)

Thanks Wolf Knight, yes I followed it back then. It didn't say dipping it in warm water with detergent was going to damage it, only solvents. So I didn;t really expect anything would go wrong. Hm.
-
My initial idea was to shine the chrome with the solvent, but seeing the solvent removing the chrome, i decided, why not, remove all the original chrome and paint it again!

Ouch! That must have hurt! I have used biotex in the past to clean stuff, and in my opinion the "bio" part of the name is a bit misleading, it's pretty aggressive... :hmm:

Maybe eco-unfriendly?
-
Yes, it hurt pretty bad. I'm gonna sue them for damages, those eco-b&^(#(%#@(!
I work with vintage plastics for my other hobby (restoring antique phones) and for that I use ordinary handsoap. Next time I'll use that.
-
Och, so sorry that happened :'(
Perhaps a little off topic, but how do you clean the silver 4434 and gold knights 4430?
-
Well, be careful what you use. A lot of cleaning products are abbrasive.
I think a company called Haggerty makes products that are reasonably safe. The make products that just clean and reverse the oxidation proces.
-
Right, it was Hagerty, one g.

Does anybody have experience with this product in combination with playmobil?

What is your intention about these washed items ? Are you going to keep them ? If not I am interested.
-
To be honest, I'm not sure yet. I was thinking of painting them gloss black for some custom. But I could use other parts of armour for that.
